A 22-inch class board that also handles attendance and entry

The Hikvision DS-D6122TH-D/C is a wall-mounted electronic class board built around a 21.5-inch panel at 1920 × 1080 resolution. Its 10-point capacitive touchscreen has an 8 ms response time, so writing, annotation and app navigation feel direct during a lesson or meeting. The unit runs Android 12.0 on a quad-core Cortex-A55 processor at 1.8 GHz, with 2 GB of memory and 16 GB of internal storage.

The specifications that matter for planning

Display: 600 cd/m² brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 72% NTSC colour gamut and 178° viewing angles both horizontally and vertically.
Light sensing: a built-in light sensor adjusts brightness to the room, which helps in spaces that mix daylight and lamps.
Build: a 27 mm thick body with 3 mm anti-glare toughened glass that reduces glare from windows and ceiling lights.
Water protection: IPX3 rated, so it tolerates water spray from any direction, useful in busy school corridors.
Face attendance: a 2 MP WDR camera with a face database of up to 50,000 pictures, verifying up to 10 people on the same screen, with accuracy above 99% and at most 0.5 seconds per person.
Access control: a 13.56 MHz RFID reader for Type A and Type B cards, plus Wiegand protocol output and relay control for door locks.
Power: up to 60 W in use and 0.5 W or less on standby, supplied by a 24 VDC, 2.5 A adapter.

Where it fits in Qatar

A private school in Al Wakrah fitting out new classrooms could mount one unit beside each door. Teachers use the touchscreen during lessons, while the camera checks attendance as pupils arrive. In an office in Lusail, a unit beside a meeting room can serve as a staff sign-in point, and a staff card tap can release a relay-controlled door. At a training centre near Education City, the board can be used for presentations during the day and as an entry point for trainees at the start of each session.

What to plan before you order

Without its base, the product measures 514.06 mm wide, 383.79 mm high and 26.6 mm deep. It weighs 6.54 kg net and 8.21 kg packed, so confirm that the wall and fixings can carry that load. Face detection reaches up to 5 m and can be adjusted in software, while 0.3 m to 1.5 m is the recommended distance for capture, so plan the mounting height and the standing position in front of the screen in advance.

The rated working temperature is 0 °C to 40 °C, with humidity from 10% to 90% without condensation. Summer temperatures in Doha can pass 45 °C, so install the board in an air-conditioned room away from direct sunlight and hot glazing. If you are unsure about conditions in a particular room, confirm them with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation.

The unit connects through one LAN port or built-in Wi-Fi, and it also offers two USB 2.0 ports and Bluetooth 4.0. The box includes the power adapter, power cord, access control linkage cable, screw kit, L-type ring spanner, dust-proof bag and quick start guide. Ask your IT team to review the network plan and Wi-Fi coverage in the room before ordering.

Questions about DS-D6122TH-D/C

Who is the Hikvision DS-D6122TH-D/C designed for?

This board suits classrooms, training rooms and small offices in Qatar that want one wall-mounted touchscreen for lessons or presentations, with attendance checks and door access handled on the same unit. Its 22-inch size fits small and medium rooms better than large lecture halls, where audiences need bigger screens. Compare it with larger class boards if many people will view the screen from a distance.

What screen size and resolution does it have?

The panel measures 21.5 inches with a Full HD resolution of 1920 × 1080 at 60 Hz. The active display area is 478.66 mm by 260.28 mm. The touch layer is 10-point capacitive with an 8 ms response time. Brightness is rated at 600 cd/m², and the built-in light sensor adjusts it to the surrounding light, which helps in classrooms close to windows.

How does the face attendance feature work?

A 2 MP WDR camera compares faces against a database that can hold up to 50,000 JPG pictures. The unit can handle 10 people on the screen at once, with verification accuracy above 99% and at most 0.5 seconds per person. Face detection reaches up to 5 metres, and 0.3 m to 1.5 m is the recommended range. Review your data protection obligations before enabling face records for students or staff.

Can it control door access in a school or office?

Yes. The unit supports the Wiegand protocol for access control devices and can switch relays to control door locks. For example, it can be linked to a classroom door or a staff entrance beside a meeting room in Lusail, so a valid card tap or face check releases the lock. An access control linkage cable is included. Confirm that your existing access system supports Wiegand before ordering.

Which types of cards does the RFID reader accept?

The built-in reader operates at 13.56 MHz and is compatible with standard Type A and Type B cards. Its response speed is high, so staff are not held up at the door. Before ordering, confirm with your card supplier that your access cards match these two types, especially if your site already uses cards from another system.

Will it cope with Doha summer heat?

The rated working temperature is 0 °C to 40 °C, with humidity between 10% and 90% and no condensation. Doha summer temperatures can exceed 45 °C, so install the board in an air-conditioned room away from direct sun and hot glass. If a room may run hotter than the rated range, speak to the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation to agree on a suitable location.

Can it be installed outdoors or in a dusty entrance?

The body is rated IPX3 for protection against water spray, and the package includes a dust-proof bag for transit. However, the listed operating range is 0 °C to 40 °C with non-condensing humidity, so these figures do not cover open-air use. If the position is an open entrance or a lobby exposed to dust storms, ask the SmartRooms Qatar team for advice before choosing the mounting location.

How much space does it need and how is it mounted?

It is a wall-mounted unit measuring 514.06 mm wide, 383.79 mm high and 26.6 mm deep without its base. It weighs 6.54 kg net and 8.21 kg packed. The box includes a screw kit and an L-type ring spanner. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey to check the wall construction, mounting height and cable route before installation.

How do I connect it to the network?

The unit provides one LAN port and built-in Wi-Fi, so you can use a cable where a network point exists or wireless in rooms without one. It runs Android 12.0 with 2 GB of memory and 16 GB of storage, and it also has two USB 2.0 ports and Bluetooth 4.0. Your IT team should review the network plan and Wi-Fi coverage in the room before the installation date is set.

Does the screen adjust its brightness automatically?

Yes. A built-in light sensor adjusts the screen brightness to match the surrounding light, keeping the image readable near windows or under bright lamps while saving energy. The panel is rated at 600 cd/m² with a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Staff therefore spend less time adjusting the display manually during bright afternoons.

Can a school or government buyer order several units on an LPO?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts LPOs and government tenders, including Monaqasat, as well as payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. When fitting out several classrooms, we can prepare one quotation covering every unit in the same configuration, with installation and the site survey included. Quotations usually follow within one working day, and lead times are confirmed with the quotation based on stock.

What is included in the box?

Each unit ships with a 24 VDC, 2.5 A power adapter, a power cord, an access control linkage cable, a screw kit, an L-type ring spanner, a dust-proof bag, a quick start guide and a cloud digital signage card. The product is covered by the manufacturer's warranty. When you request a quote, tell us about the power arrangements in the room so we can confirm the right setup.
