What the Hisense 55SOF25LW is designed for

The Hisense 55SOF25LW is a 55-inch landscape digital signage display made for permanent wall mounting outdoors. Its enclosure carries an IP55 rating, which protects the internal components against dust and water projected from jets, and the manufacturer lists it for full outdoor working environments. The manufacturer has discontinued this model. If you already own one, or are comparing it with newer displays, the figures below will help you decide, and SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement for the same outdoor role.

Screen and brightness for daylight viewing

The panel is a Full HD screen at 1920 x 1080 pixels with a 16:9 aspect ratio and an active area of 1210 x 680 mm. Brightness is rated at 2500 nits, with a contrast ratio of 1200:1 and viewing angles of 178 degrees horizontally and vertically. A light sensor adjusts brightness to the surroundings, the backlight is rated at 50,000 hours, and the display is specified for 24/7 operation with an 8 ms response time. A P-CAP touch option with 10 touch points, rated at 10 ms or less, is listed for this model; confirm it is available for your unit when you request a quote.

Protection against heat, dust, rain and tampering

IP55 enclosure against dust and water jets
Built-in airflow fan and overheating protection
6.8 mm tempered, laminated and anti-reflective glass, specified as anti-vandal
Galvanized, powder-coated steel housing in black
Three-point anti-theft lock with internal bolts and concealed hinges

Operating ambient temperature is -20°C to 45°C, with humidity from 5% to 90%. Summer temperatures in Doha can exceed 45°C, so the mounting position matters. A wall that takes sun all afternoon needs shade or open ventilation around the cabinet to help keep the unit within its rated range. Discuss the exact location with the SmartRooms Qatar team before the unit is fixed to a wall.

Where it fits in Qatar

A retail frontage in Msheireb or West Bay can use a landscape panel on an external wall to show offers and wayfinding after dark, with the light sensor adjusting output to the street. In the Industrial Area or at a site gate in Mesaieed, a unit mounted near a loading yard can display safety instructions and visitor directions. A hotel or serviced apartment entrance in Lusail can run arrival information and event listings on a covered wall, where the IP55 enclosure suits sites exposed to dust and sand.

Planning the installation and connections

At 118 kg net, with dimensions of 1450 x 920 x 150 mm and a packing carton of 1590 x 1160 x 380 mm, the wall, bracket and access route all need checking before delivery. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys, which is the right time to confirm wall construction, fixings and cable routing. The source lists mains input as AC 100/220V, 50/60Hz, with a built-in power supply and maximum consumption of 380W, so confirm the power arrangement with the team when you request a quote.

Questions about 55SOF25LW

Is the Hisense 55SOF25LW still available?

No. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so a new unit may not be obtainable in its original form. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement with similar outdoor specifications, keeping the same type of installation. Send us your intended mounting position and cabling so the team can match it.

What is this display designed for?

It is a 55-inch landscape display for permanent outdoor wall mounting, and the manufacturer lists it for full outdoor working environments. It suits shopfronts, bus shelters and building entrances where content must stay readable in daylight and the unit must resist dust and rain. For covered indoor lobbies, a standard indoor display is usually the better fit.

How bright is the screen for daylight viewing in Doha?

The screen is rated at 2500 nits, the figure that matters most for bright outdoor conditions. A light sensor adjusts brightness to the surroundings. The panel is Full HD at 1920 x 1080 pixels with a contrast ratio of 1200:1, so design content at that resolution and review it on the actual site before launch.

What does IP55 mean for a display in dust storms and rain?

IP55 means the enclosure is protected against dust ingress and against water projected from jets. Dust storms are common in Qatar, so the rating is directly relevant to any unit fixed outdoors. It does not mean the unit can be submerged, so avoid locations where water collects below the display.

Can it handle summer heat on a sun-facing wall in Doha?

The rated ambient operating range is -20°C to 45°C, with humidity from 5% to 90%. Summer temperatures in Doha can exceed 45°C, so a wall that faces the sun for hours needs shade or open ventilation around the cabinet. The unit has a built-in airflow fan and overheating protection. Ask the SmartRooms Qatar team for a site check before installation.

How heavy is the display and what kind of wall does it need?

The net weight is 118 kg, and the unit measures 1450 x 920 x 150 mm. The wall and bracket must carry that load safely, so a structural check is advisable before mounting. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys before installation, which is the right time to confirm wall type, fixings and access for the installation team.

What power supply does it need?

The source lists an AC input of 100/220V at 50/60Hz, with a built-in power supply and maximum consumption of 380W. It does not specify 240V operation, so confirm the supply arrangement and any step-down requirement before ordering. A dedicated, protected circuit for an outdoor display is a sensible plan.

What video inputs and outputs does it have?

It has two HDMI inputs, one USB 2.0 port, one LAN port, a TF card slot and an RS232 port for control. Outputs are one HDMI out and one AV out, so the HDMI output can feed a second screen. Wi-Fi or LAN connection is listed, while 3G/4G is an optional extra to confirm when you request a quote.

Can staff manage the content, and does the software support Arabic?

The unit runs Android 7.1 on a quad-core Amlogic processor with 2GB DDR4 memory and 16GB eMMC storage. A TF card slot supports cards up to 128GB. The listed interface languages are Chinese and English, so prepare Arabic content as finished image or video files and check the content workflow with SmartRooms Qatar before ordering.

Is a touch version available?

The source lists a P-CAP touch option with 10 touch points and a response time of 10 ms or less. Touch is an option rather than a standard feature, so confirm it can be supplied with your unit before designing an interactive layout, such as a wayfinding panel that visitors touch at a building entrance.

Our school or government department needs several units. How do we order?

Send the quantity and intended mounting locations, and SmartRooms Qatar will issue a quotation, usually within one working day. Purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including Monaqasat, are accepted, and payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Because this model is discontinued, the quotation will cover a current equivalent.

Is the unit covered by a warranty, and how does the design resist tampering?

Products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and the terms are confirmed in the quotation. The cabinet uses a three-point anti-theft lock with internal bolts and concealed screws and hinges, which makes tampering harder at publicly accessible sites such as car parks and event forecourts. A front door with lock also simplifies maintenance.
