The IAdea MOP-8620 is an OPS media player that gives a compatible OPS-ready commercial display a current Android 15 platform without replacing the screen. It carries a MediaTek Genio 720 processor, 4GB LPDDR5X memory, 64GB eMMC storage and Wi-Fi across 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz. Managed through Microsoft Intune, it suits Qatar organisations that want to modernise existing signage or meeting-room displays with a centrally managed endpoint.
What the MOP-8620 adds to a compatible display
The MOP-8620 is an OPS media player, a computing module that plugs into the rear OPS connector of a compatible commercial display. Once fitted, it runs Android 15 on the Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform, giving the screen a current enterprise software base while the panel, mount and touch system stay where they are. For organisations that own capable displays but are stuck with ageing embedded software, that separation is the main point.
Compatibility is set by the host display. The module follows the OPS form factor, but complete functionality depends on the display implementation and the project requirements. Checking the make and model before ordering avoids buying a module that a display cannot run fully.
Processing, memory and connections
Inside sits a MediaTek Genio 720 processor with an integrated MediaTek NPU rated at up to 10 TOPS of system performance, which handles AI tasks on the unit itself. The MOP-8620 carries 4GB of LPDDR5X memory and 64GB of eMMC storage. Its sibling in the series doubles the memory to 8GB, so this model suits standard signage playlists, dashboards and meeting-room content.
Wireless connectivity covers the 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz bands under 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, using the external antenna supplied in the box. Ports include Ethernet, HDMI input, USB-A, USB-C, microSD and a DC input. Bluetooth is listed as reserved in the specification, so it should not be part of your plan.
Security and fleet management
Management runs through Microsoft Intune, which covers enrolment, centralised provisioning, policy control and monitoring across a fleet of displays. Network access can be restricted with 802.1X authentication, so only approved endpoints join the network. Boot protection, verified operating system integrity and hardware-backed trust help guard each display, and applicable platform and security updates keep supported units current for longer.
Where it fits in Qatar
- Ministries and corporate lobbies in Msheireb or Lusail: one IT team manages wayfinding, announcements and visitor information across several floors from a single console.
- Schools and campuses in Education City or Al Wakrah: timetables, campus notices and digital noticeboards can be updated centrally across buildings.
- Hotels and malls in West Bay or The Pearl: lobby dashboards and promotional content run on existing panels without replacing the whole screen.
Heat, space and planning
The module is rated for operating temperatures from 0°C to 50°C. Doha summers regularly exceed 45°C, and the inside of a display cabinet or a glass-fronted lobby can run hotter than the room. Confirm airflow and installation conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team during a free site survey before fixing the display.
Measure the OPS bay of your display against the module's dimensions of 200 x 135 x 32.5 mm, and its weight of 0.680 kg. The power adapter is specified at 12V, 3A, but the package contents list only a quick-start guide and an external wireless antenna, so ask for the power arrangement to be confirmed in your quotation. For several units, a purchase order (LPO) or government tender can cover the full order.
