Overview

The LG 22XE1J is a 21.5-inch full HD display with 1,500 nits typical brightness through glass, built for outdoor and semi-exposed locations. Its IP56 rating covers dust and water, and the listed operating range, up to 50°C, covers Qatar's summer heat. Built-in Wi-Fi and webOS 4.1 simplify content updates. Suited to outdoor wayfinding and retail frontages in Doha and Lusail. Request a quote.

What the LG 22XE1J is built for

The LG 22XE1J is a 21.5-inch signage display for places where a standard indoor screen would not last. It pairs a 1,920 x 1080 IPS panel with 1,500 nits typical brightness measured through the protective glass, and its sealed body carries an IP56 rating against dust and powerful water jets. It is a compact, light unit for outdoor and semi-exposed sites where content has to stay readable at all hours.

Brightness and protection that matter outdoors

1,500 nits typical with glass, so messages stay visible in daylight.
IP56 sealing against dust and powerful water jets.
2 mm chemically strengthened glass that is anti-reflective and shatter-proof.
Conformal coating on the power and circuit boards against dust, humidity and iron powder.
Auto brightness sensor that raises output in strong light and lowers it in darkness.

Where it fits in Qatar

In a shopping mall car park in Doha, the 22XE1J can show entrance directions and promotions to people waiting to enter, and its auto brightness helps it stay readable from midday into the evening. Along a covered walkway or bus stop in Lusail, it can display route information in a unit built to resist dust and rain. At a factory gate in the Industrial Area or Mesaieed, it can carry safety instructions and site rules, with the IP56 seal protecting the electronics from fine dust.

Connectivity, software and remote control

The unit offers two HDMI inputs, an RS-232C input, an RJ45 LAN input, a USB 2.0 Type A port and an external speaker output. It has no DisplayPort, no audio input and no built-in speaker, so plan the audio path and the signal source before you order. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 16 GB of internal storage and webOS 4.1 let the unit run content without a separate media player. Local content scheduling, group management and four video tags are listed, and remote monitoring is supported through Control Manager and SNMP. Connected Care is an optional LG cloud service for remote fault diagnosis.

What to plan before installation

The display measures 557.3 x 319.8 x 65 mm and weighs 8.3 kg without a stand, so the wall or post must suit that load. It mounts on a 100 x 100 mm VESA pattern and can tilt face-down by up to 15 degrees. Power comes from a built-in AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz supply, drawing a typical 85W at full white and a maximum of 115W. The listed operating range is -30°C to 50°C, and summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so confirm the sun exposure of each mounting point. A free site survey from SmartRooms Qatar covers that check before any wall is drilled.

SmartRooms Qatar supplies the LG 22XE1J, delivers it to all eight municipalities of Qatar, arranges professional installation and issues quotations usually within one working day. Purchase orders and government tenders are accepted. Send your site location, quantity and mounting plan to request a quote.

Questions about 22XE1J

What is the LG 22XE1J built for?

The LG 22XE1J is a 21.5-inch full HD display built for outdoor and semi-exposed signage, such as bus shelters, car park entrances and building forecourts. It is rated at 1,500 nits typical with glass, which keeps content visible in daylight, and it carries an IP56 rating against dust and water. Its data lists 24/7 operation, so it suits organisations that need a sign running all day.

How bright is it, and can people read it in direct sunlight?

Typical brightness is 1,500 nits measured with the protective glass fitted, and the manufacturer's data lists direct sunlight use as supported. An auto brightness sensor raises output in strong light and lowers it in darkness. The glass is anti-reflective, and haze is rated at 25 percent. For a sign facing south or west in Doha, test the angle at midday before fixing it to a wall, and ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to confirm the mounting position.

What does IP56 mean for a display in Qatar?

IP56 means the sealed enclosure is protected against dust and powerful water jets, which matters during dust storms and heavy rain. The data also describes the unit as built to withstand sun, rain, dust and wind. Its circuit and power boards carry a conformal coating against dust, iron powder and humidity. Cable entry and bracket design still need planning with your installer, so the seal is not undermined at the wall.

What operating temperature range does it support for Qatar summers?

The listed operating temperature range is -30°C to 50°C, with operating humidity from 5% to 100%. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so the upper limit gives a margin, but direct solar heat on a dark wall can raise the local temperature. Confirm the exact spot, shade and airflow with the SmartRooms Qatar team during the site survey, because the figure is a manufacturer rating rather than a guarantee for every location.

Does it need a separate media player?

For many setups, no. The data describes a quad-core SoC that runs several tasks at the same time, with webOS 4.1 handling playback. Content can be scheduled locally, played via URL and organised with four video tags, and gapless playback and screen rotation are also listed. A small mall operator can load playlists directly, while a larger estate should connect a content management system such as SuperSign CMS.

Which inputs and ports does the 22XE1J include?

It has two HDMI inputs (HDCP 2.2 and 1.4 listed), one RS-232C input for control, one RJ45 LAN input and one USB 2.0 Type A port. It has an external speaker output but no audio input. DisplayPort, DVI, RGB, HDMI output and daisy chaining are not listed. If your media player only outputs DisplayPort, you will need a converter or a different player, so confirm the signal source before ordering.

Can we manage several units from one office?

Yes. The data lists Control Manager web monitoring, which lets authorised users check each unit and adjust settings from a PC or mobile phone while connected to the network, with current and past data. SuperSign CMS and Promota are also listed as compatible, and LG ConnectedCare is an optional cloud service for remote fault diagnosis. A logistics company running displays at Industrial Area and Mesaieed sites could manage them all from one office.

How much power does the LG 22XE1J use?

The built-in power supply accepts AC 100-240V at 50/60Hz. Typical consumption is 85W at full white and 36W under the IEC 62087 test, with a maximum of 115W. Smart energy saving is listed at 40W, and power-off consumption is 0.5W. A power cord is included in the box. Before installation, confirm with the SmartRooms Qatar team that the supplied cord and the site outlet arrangement match.

What wall or stand space does it need?

The monitor measures 557.3 x 319.8 x 65 mm and weighs 8.3 kg without a stand, with a packed weight of 10 kg. It mounts on a 100 x 100 mm VESA pattern and tilts face-down by up to 15 degrees. Bezels measure 38.3 mm on the sides and 24.0 mm at top and bottom. The source data lists no optional stand, so plan the bracket and wall fixing with the team before ordering.

Is it suitable for an indoor lobby as well?

Yes. The listed operating range covers indoor use, and the IP56 sealing adds protection for lobbies that open onto the outdoors. A hotel entrance in West Bay or a clinic reception in Al Sadd could use the same unit for wayfinding. The auto brightness sensor lowers output in dim areas. Mention whether the location is indoor or outdoor when you request a quote so the setup suggestions match the site.

Can we buy it through a purchase order or government tender?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including those run through Monaqasat, and accepts payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. For example, a school or ministry buying several 22XE1J units for entrance boards can send the tender reference and quantities and receive a quotation usually within one working day. Products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
