Overview

The LG 49SH7DB is a 48.5-inch (49-inch class) Full HD signage display rated at 700 nits, with a 7.4mm even bezel that suits portrait installations and video walls. It offers HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI and RJ45 control, plus OPS compatibility for a media player of your choice. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so organisations in Qatar that already run it, or need a comparable replacement, should request a quote.

What the LG 49SH7DB is and why it matters

The LG 49SH7DB is a Full HD signage display from LG's SH7D series of high-brightness models. Its panel measures 48.50 inches (1232.00 mm) on the diagonal, with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 and a brightness rating of 700 cd/m². The manufacturer has discontinued this model. This page is written for organisations that already run the display, for buyers comparing it with other signage panels, and for anyone who needs a current equivalent or a compatible replacement.

Key facts for specification

Bezel: 7.4 mm, even on the top, bottom, left and right edges, so tiled panels show narrower seams.
Cabinet: 109.5 cm x 63.7 cm x 3.2 cm, with a head weight of 15.6 kg.
Mounting: VESA 400 mm x 400 mm interface.
Brightness: 700 cd/m², the figure to compare when lobbies or corridors receive daylight.

The bezel is designed with portrait layouts and video walls in mind. The display can be stacked vertically for menus or wayfinding, or tiled into a larger wall.

Connectivity, control and media players

On the input side the panel offers one each of HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, analog RGB, audio and USB, along with RS232C (phone jack type), RJ45 and IR receiver control. An optional pixel sensor can be added for control use. On the output side there is a DisplayPort out, an audio out, an external speaker output with left and right channels, and an RS232C out that passes control signals on to the next display in a row.

For media playback, the model is compatible with OPS-type players. The optional KT-OPSA OPS kit fits the display, and external media players such as the MP500 or MP700 can also be attached. The display is listed as compatible with SuperSign-w lite and SuperSign-c content management software.

Where it fits in Qatar

A hotel reception in The Pearl could use a 49-inch panel to show arrivals information and local event listings, where the 700 cd/m² rating helps when daylight enters from the entrance. In West Bay, a shopping mall unit might stack two panels in portrait orientation beside a store entrance. A government authority in Doha could place a single unit at a public counter to show queue numbers and service guidance, with content managed remotely by its facilities team through the control interfaces.

Planning the installation

Before ordering, check the wall or bracket against the 400 mm x 400 mm VESA pattern and the 15.6 kg head weight, then plan cable routes for HDMI or DisplayPort, control cabling and power. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys and professional installation, which is a practical step before wall-mounting a large display in a lobby or a stacked portrait arrangement. The product is covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Heat also matters in Qatar, where summer temperatures can exceed 45°C. The operating temperature range is not included in the data we hold for this model, so confirm the environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installing outside an air-conditioned space, particularly near windows or outdoor-facing walls.

Questions about 49SH7DB

Can SmartRooms Qatar supply the LG 49SH7DB today?

The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so it is no longer in the current LG range. If you need one for an existing installation or a like-for-like swap, send us your requirement and we will quote for it where possible, or propose a current equivalent or compatible replacement. Quotations are usually issued within one working day.

What is the LG 49SH7DB best suited for?

It suits public-facing information displays such as hotel reception screens, retail promotions, corporate lobby wayfinding and waiting-area notices. Its 48.50-inch panel and Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 give clear text and menus at close viewing distance, while the 700 cd/m² rating helps the image stay readable where daylight enters. It is a display only, so plan a separate media player.

Will 700 nits be enough for a hotel lobby in The Pearl with a glass frontage?

The panel is rated at 700 cd/m², a sound starting point for a lobby with glass frontage. Placement still matters: keep direct sunlight off the screen and avoid positioning it opposite the entrance, where reflections are strongest. SmartRooms Qatar can review the layout during a free site survey before you confirm quantities.

Can I stack panels in portrait for a mall entrance in West Bay?

Yes, the model suits portrait and video wall layouts. Its 7.4 mm bezel is even on all four sides, so stacked or tiled panels show a narrow, consistent seam. Once rotated, each panel stands 109.5 cm tall and 63.7 cm wide, and the head weighs 15.6 kg, so the bracket or wall must be specified for the rotated footprint.

Which connections does the display have?

The panel has one HDMI input, one DisplayPort input, one DVI input, one analog RGB input, one audio input and one USB input. Outputs include a DisplayPort out, an audio out, an external speaker output for left and right channels, and an RS232C out. Control inputs include RS232C on a phone jack, RJ45 and an IR receiver, with a pixel sensor available as an option.

Can I use my own media player with it?

Yes, within the OPS standard. The model is OPS-type compatible, and the optional KT-OPSA OPS kit is the accessory that fits it. Any media player that complies with OPS can be used, and external players such as the MP500 and MP700 are also listed as attachable. Confirm your player model with SmartRooms Qatar before ordering so the kit matches your content setup.

Which signage software works with it?

The manufacturer's data lists compatibility with SuperSign-w lite and SuperSign-c. Choose software according to how many displays you manage and where content is updated, whether that is a single school hall or a retail chain with several branches in Qatar. Ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to confirm the exact player and software combination for your project before you issue a purchase order.

How can a facilities team control it from a central system?

A facilities team at a campus in Education City can control the display through RS232C on the phone-jack connector, through RJ45, or with the IR receiver and remote. The RS232C out allows a control signal to continue to another display in the same run. Confirm the control protocol and cabling with your integrator, because the data we hold does not describe command sets.

What comes in the box?

The basic package includes a remote controller with two batteries, a power cord, a quick start guide, an RGB cable, a phone-to-RS232C gender adapter and an IR receiver. Optional accessories include the SP-2100 external speaker, ST-200T, LSW440S, the AN-WF500 WiFi USB dongle, the KT-OPSA OPS kit and the KT-SP0 pixel sensor. Add any of these to your quotation if your project needs them.

What should I plan before wall-mounting the screen?

Check the 400 mm x 400 mm VESA pattern, the 15.6 kg head weight and the 109.5 cm x 63.7 cm x 3.2 cm dimensions against the wall or bracket. Plan cable routes for HDMI or DisplayPort and any control cabling. SmartRooms Qatar provides free site surveys and professional installation, which is useful for a large lobby wall where the final position must suit viewing angles.

Can it be placed near windows in Al Khor where summer heat is strong?

Our data does not include an operating temperature range for this model, so we cannot confirm a figure. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so avoid placing the display near windows, outdoor-facing walls or unconditioned rooms unless the environment is confirmed. Send the room details to the SmartRooms Qatar team and they will advise before you order.

What should I check when comparing it with a newer LG model?

Compare screen size, resolution, brightness in cd/m², bezel width, inputs, OPS support and the mounting pattern, then check whether a newer model keeps your existing bracket and media player. Because this model is discontinued, weigh a like-for-like replacement against a current equivalent. A government authority or school procurement team can ask for both options in a single quotation.
