Overview

The LG 49XE4F-M is a 49-inch full HD outdoor display rated at 4,000 nits typical brightness, sealed to IP56 and fitted with an IK10-rated front glass. It suits sunlit entrances, outdoor menu boards and kiosks across Qatar. LG has discontinued this model, so buyers who already own one, or want a comparable replacement, should request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar.

What the LG 49XE4F-M is and who it suits

The LG 49XE4F-M is a 49-inch outdoor display from the XE4F series, built around a full HD 1920 x 1080 IPS panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio. It is made for content that must remain readable outside a building rather than behind glass: digital menu boards, kiosks, entrance screens and wayfinding points. Because the panel runs in landscape or portrait, it also suits vertical totem layouts.

Brightness and viewing under strong sun

Brightness decides whether outdoor content can be read at midday. This model is rated at 4,000 nits typical and 3,200 nits minimum, with a 1,300:1 contrast ratio. The IPS panel offers a 178-degree viewing angle both horizontally and vertically, and its quarter wave plate keeps the picture visible through polarized sunglasses. The panel is specified for 24/7 operation with a typical lifetime of 50,000 hours.

Protection for outdoor and semi-exposed sites

The enclosure is sealed to IP56, which the manufacturer describes as protection against rain, snow, dust and wind as well as the effects of sunlight. The front is 5 mm tempered glass with an IK10 impact rating, anti-reflective treatment and infrared resistance. The operating range is -30 °C to 50 °C at 5% to 100% humidity. Summer temperatures in Doha, Al Khor or Mesaieed can exceed 45 °C, so shade, airflow and the mounting position should be checked on site before the unit goes live.

Connectivity, control and remote management

The display has two HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort input, all supporting HDCP 2.2, plus two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, RS232C in and out and two RJ45 connections. One RJ45 port is a LAN connection and the other is HDBaseT, which can carry video, Ethernet, control and USB over one long cable. The unit is managed through SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control+ and Connected Care, the last of which lets you monitor and adjust the screen remotely in real time. The on-screen menu includes Arabic and English. There are no built-in speakers.

Where it fits in Qatar

Three realistic uses show where the panel earns its place:

A retail frontage in West Bay or Lusail, where direct sunlight would wash out an indoor screen.
A hotel or serviced apartment entrance in The Pearl or Msheireb, showing arrivals and directions under a shaded canopy.
A menu board or kiosk in Al Rayyan or Al Wakrah that needs content updates from head office.

What to plan before ordering

The head weighs 32 kg and 37 kg packed. The source data does not list a VESA mounting interface, so the bracket has to be matched to the wall or column during a site survey. Allow for the 88.0 mm depth and the bezels, which measure 38.4 mm at top and bottom and 26 mm on each side. The model has been discontinued by LG, so buyers should ask for a quote on a current equivalent or compatible replacement. If you already run this model and need to match it, send us your existing setup.

Send us your location, mounting height and content plan, then request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar and we will reply, usually within one working day, with a current equivalent for your LG 49XE4F-M requirement.

Questions about 49XE4F-M

Is the LG 49XE4F-M still sold by LG?

No. LG has discontinued the 49XE4F-M, so new units may not be available from the manufacturer. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement for your outdoor signage project. If you already own one and need to extend or match an installation, send us the existing setup and we will suggest a suitable match.

What is the LG 49XE4F-M designed for?

It is a 49-inch full HD display built for outdoor and semi-exposed signage such as menu boards, kiosks, shopfront screens and wayfinding points, where indoor panels struggle with sunlight. Its 16:9 panel can be used in landscape or portrait, which suits drive-through menus and vertical totem layouts across Doha and the wider country.

Can it be read in direct sunlight at a West Bay or Lusail storefront?

The panel is rated at 4,000 nits typical and 3,200 nits minimum, which is the figure to compare when sunlight hits a glazed frontage in West Bay or Lusail. The source data also lists a quarter wave plate, so viewers wearing polarized sunglasses can still read the screen. Check the direction of glare on site before fixing the final viewing angle.

Will it cope with Qatar summer heat?

The operating range is -30 °C to 50 °C with 5% to 100% humidity, and the unit includes a built-in fan and a temperature sensor. Qatar summers can push ambient temperature above 45 °C, so airflow and shade still need planning. SmartRooms Qatar will confirm the mounting position with you during a free site survey before quoting.

What do IP56 and IK10 mean for this model?

IP56 is an ingress rating covering protection against dust and water. The manufacturer says this sealing protects the unit from rain, snow, dust and wind, as well as the damaging effects of sunlight. IK10 is the highest impact rating and applies to the front glass, which is 5 mm tempered glass. Good sealing does not replace shade, so keep airflow in the site survey plan.

Which inputs and connections does it have?

It has two HDMI inputs with HDCP 2.2, one DisplayPort input with HDCP 2.2, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, RS232C in and out, and two RJ45 ports, one for LAN and one for HDBaseT. There is an external speaker output but no built-in speakers and no audio input. There is no HDMI output, so it cannot pass a signal on to a second display.

How does HDBaseT help with cabling?

HDBaseT carries video, audio, Ethernet, control signals, USB and IR over a single long-distance cable, so one run can feed picture and management data to the display. On this model the HDBaseT port is one of the two RJ45 connections. The source data does not state a maximum cable distance, so confirm the transmitter and cable length with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation.

Can it be managed and monitored remotely?

The model supports SuperSign CMS and SuperSign Control+, and Connected Care web monitoring lets you check and control the unit from a mobile phone at any time, with current and past data. It has 16GB of internal eMMC memory, local content scheduling, Wake on LAN and SNMP support. For multiple sites across Qatar, ask our team which management setup fits your network.

Does it need a separate media player?

The specification lists 16GB internal eMMC memory, local content scheduling and a play-via-URL function, so some basic playlists can run without an external player. There is no OPS slot and no OPS compatibility, so a plug-in computer module cannot be added. Confirm your content workflow with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.

Can a 49-inch, 32 kg panel be wall-mounted in a Doha lobby?

The head weighs 32 kg and packs at 37 kg, with an outer carton of 1287 x 797 x 207 mm. The source data does not list a VESA interface, so the bracket must be confirmed against the actual mounting plate before purchase. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey to check wall or column strength, access and fixing points before installation in a Doha lobby or shopfront.

We are fitting a kiosk in a Lusail mall. What should we check?

Start with the tilt. The source lists a face-up tilt of up to 15 degrees and gives no face-down figure, so confirm the angle your kiosk needs. Check that the 1153 x 656.2 x 88.0 mm body fits your enclosure, and allow for the 26 mm side bezels and 38.4 mm top and bottom bezels when laying out content. Request a quote and we will confirm the dimensions with you.

Can we buy it through an LPO or a government tender?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs), government tenders including Monaqasat, and payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. A ministry or school ordering several outdoor units for entrances or wayfinding can issue one LPO covering all of them. Because this model is discontinued, the quote will cover a current equivalent. Products carry the manufacturer's warranty.
