Overview

The Marvel MWE663 is a high-brightness stretched bar LCD with 1366 x 196 resolution and 400 cd/m2 brightness, built for shelf edges, aisle headers and price strips. An internal Android player runs video, images and rolling text, updated over Wi-Fi, Ethernet or optional 4G through a cloud CMS. Its IP65 rating and included wall bracket suit supermarkets and retail stores across Qatar. Request a quote for your layout.

What the MWE663 is built for

The Marvel MWE663 is a stretched bar LCD: a long, narrow display intended for shelf edges, aisle headers, checkout lanes and price strips rather than full-width viewing. Its display area measures 410.5 x 61 mm inside an outline of 432.5 x 83 x 30.5 mm, so it takes little depth on a wall or fixture. The 16:2.3 display ratio and 1366 x 196 resolution suit short, high-impact messages such as promotions, prices and store notices.

Brightness, playback and remote control

Rated at 400 cd/m2 with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and a 1ms response time, the panel is built to keep prices readable in busy, brightly lit aisles. An internal Android 4.2.2 player on a Cortex A7 dual-core processor, with 1GB DDR3 memory and 8GB NAND flash storage, plays AVI, MP4 and MPEG video, JPG, BMP, PNG and GIF images, and MP3 and WMA audio. It can also show rolling subtitles and weather information, and the specification lists stereo sound.

Content can be pushed remotely over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, with 4G available as an option, through a cloud content management system. That lets a head office change a promotion across several branches without visiting each shelf. Confirm which connection options are fitted to your unit in the quotation, because 4G is listed as optional.

Where it fits in Qatar

Hypermarket in Al Rayyan: a bar above a chilled-aisle header showing weekly promotions, updated from head office before the weekend rush.
Pharmacy in Msheireb: a slim strip beside the counter for opening hours and service notices.
Mall unit in Lusail: a row of bars along the inside of a shopfront to announce seasonal offers.

Environment, power and mounting planning

The listed operating temperature is 0 to 50 °C, with operating humidity from 20% to 85%. Afternoon temperatures in a Qatar summer can exceed 45 °C, so a bar on a sun-facing window or beside a heat source leaves little margin. The data sheet lists the application as indoor in one section and outdoor in another, and carries an IP65 rating, so confirm the mounting location with the SmartRooms Qatar team before fixing it.

Power is DC 12 V at 15 W from the supplied adapter, whose listed input of AC 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz supply. The adapter, power cord and wall mount bracket are included. Measure the mounting run and check the outline dimensions against the fixture before ordering. The source lists several screen sizes, including 16.4-inch, 28-inch and 28.8-inch options, so state the size you need in your enquiry.

SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys to confirm placement, cabling and power access before you order. Quotations are usually issued within one working day, and we accept purchase orders (LPOs) for retail groups, with payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Questions about MWE663 High Brightness Stretched Bar LCD

What is the Marvel MWE663 and who is it for?

The MWE663 is a high-brightness stretched bar LCD, a long, narrow display for shelf edges, aisle headers and price strips. It suits supermarkets, pharmacies and retail units that need a slim, remotely updated message strip rather than a full-size screen. It runs its own Android-based player, so content can change without a separate media PC.

Which screen sizes does the MWE663 come in?

The manufacturer data lists 16.4-inch, 28-inch and 28.8-inch variants, and its specification table also shows 16.3, 18.9 and 34.9-inch sizes. Because the size sets the fitting length, name the size you need in your enquiry. SmartRooms Qatar will confirm the available configuration in the quotation before you order.

What brightness and resolution does it offer?

The panel has a brightness of 400 cd/m2, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, a 1366 x 196 resolution and a 16:2.3 display ratio. The response time is 1ms and the listed life is 50,000 hours. These figures suit short text and price messages in lit retail aisles, where a long, low-profile message must stay readable from a distance.

Can it be used outdoors or in sun-exposed locations in Qatar?

The data sheet gives an IP65 rating but lists the application as indoor in one section and outdoor in another, so the environment is not settled. Before using it near windows, entrances or open shopfronts, ask SmartRooms Qatar to confirm suitability. Summer heat above 45 °C in Qatar also needs checking against the listed 0 to 50 °C operating range.

What is the operating temperature and humidity range?

The listed operating temperature is 0 to 50 °C and the operating humidity is 20% to 85%. In Qatar, summer afternoons can approach the upper limit, so plan airflow and avoid mounting near heaters, sun-facing glass or hot display cases. Discuss the exact location with the team during the site survey before fixing the unit.

How is content updated and managed remotely?

Content can be pushed over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and 4G is available as an option. The manufacturer's cloud content management system lets a head office update playlists for several stores from one place. Remote monitoring availability depends on how the unit is configured, so confirm the connection options fitted to your unit when you request a quote.

Which file formats does it play?

The player handles AVI, MP4 and MPEG video, JPG, BMP, PNG and GIF images, and MP3 and WMA audio. It can display rolling subtitles and weather information, and the specification lists stereo sound. Prepare promotional clips and price graphics in these formats, sized to the 1366 x 196 resolution, so the strip shows text clearly.

What ports and network connections does it have?

The port list includes two USB 2.0 ports, one SD card slot, one HDMI output and a 100M LAN port, with a further LAN entry also listed. Wireless connectivity is Wi-Fi, and 4G is optional. Use the USB ports for local media and maintenance, and plan cable routing to the network point before installation.

How would a supermarket in Doha use this bar display?

A supermarket in Doha might mount a bar above a chilled-aisle header to show weekly promotions and unit prices, then change the playlist from head office for each branch. Because the bar is narrow and light enough for a wall bracket, it suits headers where a full-size screen would not fit. Ask for a site survey to measure the header first.

What comes in the box and what power does it need?

The listed accessories are an adapter, power cord and wall mount bracket. The unit runs on DC 12 V and draws 15 W, with the adapter's stated input of AC 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz. Mains sockets in Qatar are BS 1363 Type G, so confirm the outlet position for each bar and plan cable routing to it.

Do you offer a site survey before a multi-unit order for a mall or hypermarket?

Yes, SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys. For a retail group ordering several bars for different aisles, a survey can measure fixture lengths, confirm mounting height and check power and network access at each point. This prevents ordering the wrong size for a header. Request a quote with the store locations and the sizes you need.

Can a retail group pay through an LPO for MWE663 units?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs), and payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Quotations are usually issued within one working day. Send the quantity, sizes and delivery addresses across Qatar, and ask for the warranty terms stated in the quotation for the manufacturer's coverage.
