What the 86-inch XRT is and where it sits in the range

The Newline 86" XRT, model XRT-8626, is the largest member of the XRT outdoor digital signage series, which spans sizes from 43 to 86 inches. It uses a 4K LCD panel with direct LED backlighting and an IPS panel type, and presents a 1,895 x 1,066 mm display area inside a 35.9 mm bezel. The screen supports both landscape and portrait orientation, so the same unit can run wide banners on a plaza or tall layouts along a narrow walkway.

Brightness, weather sealing and impact protection

Outdoor screens are judged first on brightness. This model is rated at 2,500 nits, paired with a 1,200:1 contrast ratio and a 25% haze rating. The front is 5 mm tempered glass with an IK10 impact rating, and the enclosure carries an IP56 rating against dust and strong water jets, which matters for the rain and fine dust that buildings in Qatar face. The unit is specified for 24-hour, seven-day operation.

Working temperature: -30 to 60 °C
Humidity: 0 to 90% RH, non-condensing
Power draw: under 1,500 W at full load, under 0.5 W on standby

Ports, connectivity and control

The rear panel offers two HDMI inputs, one USB-C port rated at 15 W with full-function Alt mode, one USB 3.0 port for the Android system, a 1000M RJ45 LAN input, a 3.5 mm line out and two RS232C ports, one for input and one for output. Those serial ports let a single controller pass commands along several displays or link the screen to a scheduling or building management system that supports RS232. Inside, an octa-core processor with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage runs Android 14, with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and Wake-on-LAN and Wake-on-WiFi. Two built-in speakers are rated at a maximum of 10 W each.

Where it fits in Qatar

Three situations suit this model well. At a university or school in Education City, it can sit on an open walkway or shaded plaza to show event schedules, campus maps and safety notices where indoor screens would be too far from the entrance. A mall or hotel forecourt in West Bay or Lusail can run promotions and wayfinding that stay readable in daylight. A site near the Hamad International Airport area can show travel information on a 4K panel mounted in portrait orientation along a narrow passage.

Planning the installation

At 119 kg net and 137.8 kg gross, the 86-inch unit needs a wall, column or frame rated for that load, so a free site survey should come before any mounting work. A wall-mount bracket is included, with an 800 mm VESA pattern, and a stand is available as an optional installation method. Plan the circuit for the full-load draw of under 1,500 W. The box includes UK and EU power cables of 2.5 m each, so confirm the plug arrangement with the SmartRooms Qatar team to match the BS 1363 sockets used in Qatar. Orders are supplied to all eight municipalities, and a quotation usually follows within one working day. Purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders are accepted.

To check whether the 86-inch XRT suits your site, send the mounting wall, the intended orientation and the number of units to SmartRooms Qatar and request a quote.

Questions about 86" XRT

What is the Newline 86" XRT designed for?

It is an 86-inch outdoor digital signage display for places where a screen is exposed to weather, such as covered walkways, plazas, campus entrances and building forecourts. Its 2,500 nits brightness, IP56 dust and water rating and IK10 glass suit public content that must stay visible through the day. It can also run in indoor lobbies, but the outdoor specification is what separates it from standard commercial displays.

How bright is the 86-inch XRT, and is it readable in direct sunlight?

The 86-inch model is rated at 2,500 nits, and the manufacturer describes the XRT Series as built for direct sunlight and high ambient light. Wall orientation still matters in Doha. A shaded or north-facing position usually gives better results than a west-facing wall in the late afternoon. Ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to check the orientation during the site survey before fixing the mounting point.

What is the operating temperature range, and does it suit Qatar summers?

The working range is -30 to 60 °C with 0 to 90% relative humidity, non-condensing. Summer air temperatures in Qatar above 45 °C fall inside that range. Direct sun on the wall or cabinet can still raise the temperature around the unit, so plan shade or ventilation at the mounting location and confirm the final arrangement with SmartRooms Qatar when you request a quote.

Is the XRT-8626 protected against dust, rain and impacts?

The enclosure carries an IP56 rating, which covers protection against dust and strong water jets. The front is 5 mm tempered glass with an IK10 impact rating, the highest level of protection against mechanical impacts. That suits dusty industrial areas and busy public spaces where screens face knocks. Keep cable entries and connectors sealed as the installation guide describes so the rating holds after installation.

Which ports and inputs does the 86-inch XRT have?

The rear panel has two HDMI inputs, one USB-C port rated at 15 W with full-function Alt mode, one USB 3.0 port for the Android system, a 1000M RJ45 LAN input, a 3.5 mm line out and two RS232C ports, one in and one out. This covers a media player or laptop feed, a wired network connection and serial control. Check the output on your source device and whether it needs an adapter before ordering.

Can the display be controlled by a building management or scheduling system?

The two RS232C ports allow serial control. One port receives commands and the other passes them on, so several displays can be daisy-chained from one controller. Wake-on-LAN and Wake-on-WiFi support remote power-on, and the 1000M LAN port provides a wired network link. The box includes two 3 m RS232 cables. Confirm the command protocol with your system integrator before purchase.

What processing, memory and wireless does it include?

The display runs Android 14 on an octa-core processor with four A72 and four A53 cores, backed by 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. Wireless connectivity is Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5.2. For a school or office planning a large content library, 32 GB is a limit to check against video file sizes before ordering, since the storage is fixed on the unit.

How much power does it need, and what power cables come with it?

Full-load draw is under 1,500 W and standby draw is under 0.5 W, so the circuit should be checked during site planning. The box includes a UK power cable and an EU power cable, each 2.5 m long. Qatar uses BS 1363 (Type G) sockets, so confirm the plug arrangement during quotation to make sure the correct cable is supplied before installation.

How heavy is the 86-inch XRT, and what wall work is needed?

The net weight is 119 kg and the gross weight with packaging is 137.8 kg, with an 800 mm VESA mount pattern. A wall-mount bracket is included. Because the unit is heavy, the wall, columns or frame and its fixings must be checked for load before mounting. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey, and professional installation can be arranged once the quotation is accepted.

How does the 86-inch compare with the 75-inch XRT for a large outdoor screen?

The 86-inch model offers a display area of 1,895 x 1,066 mm, against 1,650 x 928 mm for the 75-inch. Both are rated at 2,500 nits with IP56 and IK10 protection. The main trade-offs are weight, 119 kg net against 85.5 kg, and power, under 1,500 W at full load against under 591 W. Choose the 86-inch when viewing distance and wall structure justify it.

Can a school or ministry order several units under a purchase order?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including those on Monaqasat. Each unit is quoted with its wall-mount bracket and power cables. For a multi-site project, send the quantity and mounting locations together so the quotation covers installation planning. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Since each unit weighs 119 kg net, confirm lifting and delivery arrangements for every site.
