Overview

The Samsung OH46F is a 46-inch outdoor digital signage display with an IP56 enclosure and 2,500 cd/m2 brightness, so content stays readable in direct Qatari sunlight. Its 1920 x 1080 S-VA panel operates from -30 to 50 °C, and a filter-free self-cooling system removes the need for extra cooling equipment. It suits shopfronts, campus entrances and forecourts across Qatar that need a screen running outdoors all day.

What the OH46F is designed to do

The Samsung OH46F is a 46-inch display from the OHF outdoor range, supplied as model LH46OHFPKBC/UE. The power section, network hub and playback connections sit inside one cabinet measuring 1069.0 x 623.6 x 85.0 mm. Because it is only 85.0 mm deep, it can be wall or frame mounted without a separate media box, and it is built for public spaces where a screen must run through full sun, dust and heat.

Brightness, protective glass and daylight viewing

The panel is rated at 2,500 cd/m2, the figure that matters most for daylight viewing in Qatar. It uses an S-VA panel at 1920 x 1080 with a 4.9 mm bezel. A 5 mm tempered protective glass, rated IK10 for impact, carries an anti-graffiti finish and reduces infrared effects. An air gap separates the glass from the LCD, so the panel is protected if the cover breaks. An ambient light sensor adjusts brightness automatically as sunlight changes through the day.

Ratings and what they mean on a Qatari site

IP56 enclosure: protection against dust ingress and powerful water jets, relevant to dust storms and rain.
Operating range: -30 to 50 °C, with humidity rated 10 to 80 percent non-condensing.
Cooling: a heat exchanger with no filter to clean or replace.
Power: AC 100 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz, with a maximum draw of 500 W.

Summer afternoons in Qatar can exceed 45 °C, so the 50 °C upper limit is the figure to check against your site. Review shaded mounting positions and any enclosure around the unit with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.

Where it fits in Qatar

Three typical settings suit this model. A shopfront in West Bay or Msheireb can show promotions to passers-by during the day, where high brightness and anti-reflection glass keep content visible in direct sun. A campus entrance in Education City can carry directions and event notices, and the portrait or landscape option lets the unit work as a wayfinding post. A fuel station forecourt in Al Rayyan or a gate in the Industrial Area or Mesaieed can show safety messages without a separate indoor media room.

Connections, content and planning the install

The OH46F offers two HDMI inputs, one USB port, a D-Sub RGB input, an HDBaseT input over LAN, RS232 in and out, RJ45 in and out, and a stereo mini jack audio output. MagicInfo support allows playback scheduling and monitoring from a central location. The VESA pattern is 995 x 500 mm for the basic mount, with a 1000 x 400 mm optional pattern that the manufacturer says applies to 46-inch and 55-inch models. The panel is heavy, so a site survey should confirm wall or frame loading before installation. The package includes a power cord, remote controller and batteries, and the product is covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Questions about OH46F

Which Qatar sites suit the Samsung OH46F best?

The OH46F suits locations where a 46-inch screen must run outdoors or in covered, unconditioned areas, such as shopfronts in West Bay, campus entrances in Education City, fuel station forecourts in Al Rayyan and gates in the Industrial Area or Mesaieed. The IP56 enclosure and the -30 to 50 °C operating range match these conditions. Air-conditioned lobbies can be served by indoor models instead.

Can the OH46F handle a Doha summer afternoon above 45 °C?

The listed operating range is -30 to 50 °C, which sits above typical Qatari summer afternoons of 45 °C. Samsung states that its self-cooling system with a heat exchanger removes the need for additional air conditioning. The margin to 50 °C is limited, though, so shading and any enclosure around the unit should be checked with the SmartRooms Qatar team during a free site survey before ordering.

Will content stay readable at midday on a busy Doha street?

The panel is rated at 2,500 cd/m2, and an ambient light sensor adjusts brightness automatically as the sun moves. The anti-reflection Magic Glass cuts glare from the protective cover, which helps in direct sunlight. For a shopfront facing afternoon sun in West Bay, use large text and high contrast so messages stay clear to pedestrians.

What does the IP56 rating mean for dust and rain?

IP56 means dust ingress is limited to a level that does not interfere with operation, and the enclosure resists powerful water jets. That covers dust carried in storms and rain falling on the screen in Qatar. It does not mean the unit can be submerged, so ask your installer about drainage and cleaning routines for a screen mounted in an exposed position.

Which video and data inputs does the OH46F provide?

It has two HDMI inputs, one USB port, a D-Sub RGB input, an HDBaseT input over LAN, RS232 in and out, RJ45 in and out, and a stereo mini jack audio output. A 3G dongle option is listed for 3G only. These ports cover a media player, a laptop, a network feed or building control. Confirm your source type and cable run before ordering.

Can content be managed on several units from one place?

Yes, the product data lists MagicInfo support. MagicInfo lets you schedule playback and monitor the display remotely from a central location, which suits a group of sites such as several fuel station forecourts or a campus with multiple entrances. The unit also supports auto source switching and recovery, so the display can change inputs automatically.

Is the OH46F compatible with Qatar's 240 V mains supply?

The power supply is rated AC 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains. Maximum power consumption is 500 W, and off and sleep modes draw under 0.5 W. A power cord is included. Your electrician should confirm the cord and socket arrangement at the installation point before the unit is connected.

How much space and mounting planning does the OH46F need?

The set measures 1069.0 x 623.6 x 85.0 mm with a 4.9 mm bezel. The basic VESA pattern is 995 x 500 mm, with a 1000 x 400 mm optional pattern. Samsung notes its optional brackets apply to 46-inch and 55-inch models. Because the panel is heavy, the wall or frame should be checked during a site survey before the installation date is agreed.

Could a shopfront in West Bay use this display for daytime promotions?

Yes, a glazed shopfront facing the street is a typical use. The 1920 x 1080 panel at 2,500 cd/m2 can show offers to passers-by throughout the day. Choose portrait or landscape orientation to suit the frontage, and leave automatic brightness control switched on. Request a quote after a site survey confirms the mounting position.

What would a campus entrance in Education City need from this display?

A campus entrance needs directions, event notices and safety messages that are readable outdoors from a short distance. The 5 mm tempered glass rated IK10 resists impacts, the anti-graffiti finish helps the screen stay clean, and the portrait option suits a short wayfinding post. Plan power and network routes in advance so cabling is complete before the display is switched on.

Is the OH46F suitable for a fuel station forecourt in Al Rayyan or a gate in Mesaieed?

Yes, for open locations where the screen is exposed to sun, dust and heat. The IP56 enclosure and the -30 to 50 °C operating range suit these conditions. Use the screen for wayfinding, safety notices and promotions, scheduled centrally through MagicInfo. Because open forecourts can receive sun all day, confirm orientation and shading before ordering.
