OH55A-S

The Samsung OH55A-S is a 55-inch display made for signage that must stay readable outside a building rather than behind a window. It pairs a VA panel at 1,920 x 1,080 resolution with an enclosure rated IP56 against dust and water, so it can be mounted where sun, sand and rain reach the screen. Qatar's summer heat and dust storms are the conditions this model is built to handle, and the figures below show how.

Brightness, glass and enclosure figures that matter

• Brightness: 3,500 nits typical and 4,000 nits peak, with a built-in sensor that adjusts output to ambient light.
• Glass: 5T tempered Magic Protection Glass with an anti-reflection coating, rated for total reflection below 1.5 percent.
• Protection: IP56 against dust and water ingress, and IK10 impact resistance.
• Cooling: four concealed fans in the lower part of the enclosure, designed to reduce condensation caused by external humidity.
• Operating range: -30°C to 50°C and 10 to 80 percent humidity, non-condensing.
• Picture: 6,000:1 static contrast, 100,000:1 dynamic contrast, 6 ms response time and 72 percent colour gamut.

Viewing is rated at 178 degrees horizontally and vertically. The screen uses polarisation so that content can be seen through polarised lenses, although the manufacturer notes that faint patterning may appear through polarised sunglasses because of the tempered glass.

Connectivity and built-in playback

The OH55A-S has two HDMI 2.0 inputs with HDCP 2.2, an HDBaseT input for long cable runs over network cabling, one USB port, a stereo mini-jack audio output, and RS232 and RJ45 connections on both input and output for chaining control. Playback runs on the embedded MagicINFO Player S7 on Tizen 5.0 with 8GB of flash memory. A MagicINFO licence must be purchased separately. The display has no power outlet, so each unit needs its own supply within the stated 100-240V, 50/60Hz range, drawing 530 W in on mode and 0.5 W in sleep mode.

Where it fits in Qatar

A retail frontage in Msheireb or West Bay that wants promotions visible day and night is a typical fit, since the automatic brightness sensor adjusts to daylight and evening light. A hotel entrance in Lusail can use the panel for arrival messages and wayfinding under a covered drop-off area. At an industrial site in Mesaieed or the Industrial Area, a gate or yard display can show safety notices and visitor information where dust is routine. In each case, shade, airflow and the mounting position should be confirmed against the 50°C upper limit before installation.

What to plan before installation

The mount is sold separately, so choose a bracket that matches the listed VESA pattern of 1186 x 560 mm. The set measures 1260.6 x 731.4 x 85 mm and weighs 46.1 kg, which means a two-person lift and a wall or structure rated for that load. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey to check the fixing point, cable route and sun exposure before anything is mounted. Professional installation is available across Qatar.
