Overview

The Samsung OM55N-D is a 55-inch display built for storefronts. One panel serves two sides: a 3,000 nit screen facing the street and a 1,000 nit screen for shoppers inside. It offers a 1,920 x 1,080 VA panel, built-in Wi-Fi and IP5X dust protection. Retailers, banks and property sales offices in Doha and Lusail will find it suits window displays. Request a quote.

What this dual-sided display does

The Samsung OM55N-D is a 55-inch signage display with two screens that face opposite ways. The window-facing side is rated at 3,000 nit typical brightness, so the picture stays readable in daylight, while the indoor side is rated at 1,000 nit typical for shoppers and staff inside the room. One unit therefore covers a storefront and an interior counter without a second screen and a separate mount.

Picture and brightness facts that matter

The panel is a VA type with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, a 4,000:1 contrast ratio and a 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Viewing angles are rated at 178 degrees horizontal and vertical, which helps people standing beside a shop window still see the content. Response time is 6 ms on the outdoor side and 8 ms on the indoor side, colour gamut is listed at 72 percent, and glass haze is listed at 0 percent.

Operating conditions and installation in Qatar

Operating range: 0 to 40 °C, with 10 to 80 percent humidity, non-condensing.
Dust protection: IP5X validated.
Power: AC 100 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz; 500 W in on mode and under 1.0 W in sleep mode.
Size and weight: 726.8 x 1299 x 69.5 mm; 42 kg set and 52 kg packed.

Qatar summers regularly push past 45 °C, so the operating range is an important planning factor. Placement should be shaded and ventilated, or housed in a suitable enclosure, and the free site survey from SmartRooms Qatar is the time to confirm the exact conditions at your frontage. No protective glass option is listed for this model, so the window side needs careful positioning from the start.

Where it fits: three scenarios in Qatar

A retail unit in Msheireb or Lusail showing promotions to pedestrians outside, while customers inside see the in-store side.
A bank branch in West Bay using the street-facing side for service and rate messages, and the indoor side for queue information.
A property sales office in The Pearl showing project renders on the window side and floor plans on the interior side.

Connectivity, content and cabling

Connections include two HDMI inputs, two USB ports, an IR input, an RS232 input and an RJ45 LAN input, with built-in Wi-Fi. Bluetooth, HDBaseT and audio input or output are not listed in the manufacturer data. The embedded MagicINFO Player S6 runs on Tizen, so schedules and content can be updated over the network. A connectivity cover at the top of the set keeps cables neat, and the display needs one power cord and one LAN cable. The model does not support MagicINFO daisy-chain video wall use.

Planning your order

Before ordering, measure the window or wall, confirm the stand or ceiling fixing can carry 42 kg, and map the cable route to the nearest LAN point and power outlet. Organisations buying several units can issue a purchase order (LPO) against one quotation, and SmartRooms Qatar supplies all eight municipalities of Qatar with professional installation available. Request a quote for the OM55N-D and we will confirm stock position and estimated lead time with your quotation, usually within one working day.

Questions about OM55N-D

Who is the Samsung OM55N-D designed for?

It suits organisations that need one screen to serve two audiences: passers-by on the street and people inside the room. Scenarios in Qatar include retail shops in Msheireb and Lusail, bank branches in West Bay, and property sales offices in The Pearl. The 55-inch size suits typical storefront windows and interior counters, and gives buyers flexible mounting choices on a stand or from a ceiling.

What is the difference between the two sides of the display?

The window-facing side has a typical brightness of 3,000 nit, while the indoor side is rated at 1,000 nit typical. Both sides share a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, a VA panel and a 4,000:1 contrast ratio. Response time is 6 ms on the outdoor side and 8 ms on the indoor side. These brightness figures are manufacturer typical values, so confirm the conditions at your own site during the survey.

Can the OM55N-D be installed outdoors in Doha summer heat?

Its stated operating range is 0 to 40 °C with 10 to 80 percent humidity, non-condensing. That is below the summer temperatures above 45 °C that Qatar regularly reaches. Plan a shaded, ventilated position or a suitable enclosure, and confirm your site conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team during the free site survey before the quotation is finalised.

Is there a protective glass cover for the window side?

No. The manufacturer data lists no protective glass option for this model, and glass haze is listed at 0 percent. Because the window-facing side has no added cover, your mounting plan should account for direct sun, dust and reflections. Include details of your window layout when you request a quote so the installation suggestion matches your frontage.

How can the display be mounted?

It can be placed on a stand or hung from a ceiling, which gives you options for positioning it between a window and the floor area. The set weighs 42 kg and the packed unit weighs 52 kg, so confirm that the stand or ceiling anchors can carry the load. Dimensions are 726.8 x 1299 x 69.5 mm with a 22.8 mm bezel. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey before installation.

Can I connect the display to an existing media player or PC?

Yes. The display has two HDMI inputs, two USB ports, an IR input, an RS232 input and an RJ45 LAN input, plus built-in Wi-Fi. Bluetooth, HDBaseT and audio input or output are not listed. Check that your source device uses HDMI or LAN before ordering, and ask the SmartRooms Qatar team if you need a specific control arrangement.

How is content updated and scheduled?

The OM55N-D has an embedded MagicINFO Player S6 running on the Tizen operating system, so content can be managed and played from the display itself. Updates can be sent over the built-in Wi-Fi or the LAN connection, which reduces extra cabling. For a shop changing promotions every week, this removes the need for a separate media player behind the window.

Can several units be linked together as a video wall?

No. The manufacturer data states that MagicINFO daisy-chain video wall support is not available on this model, so each unit should be planned as a standalone display. If you need one large combined picture, ask SmartRooms Qatar for a quotation covering a solution suited to your space.

What power does it need and how much does it draw?

It accepts AC 100 to 240 V with a plus or minus 10 percent tolerance at 50/60 Hz, so the 240 V mains supply in Qatar falls within its stated range. Consumption is 500 W in on mode and less than 1.0 W in sleep mode. Installation uses one power cord and one LAN cable. Confirm the plug type with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.

How do schools and government offices order several units?

Organisations buying several units, such as a government authority fitting out public counters or a bank opening new branches, can issue a purchase order (LPO) against one quotation. SmartRooms Qatar delivers to all eight municipalities, and payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Ask for a quotation that covers installation and a site survey for each location.

Is it suitable for a property sales office in The Pearl?

Yes. The window-facing side can show project renders to people walking past at street level, while the indoor side displays floor plans for visitors. A 178 degree horizontal and vertical viewing angle lets several people see the picture from different positions in the room. Request a site survey to measure the window and fix the display position before you place the order.
