A compact Android player for Ultra HD signage

The Trend TC-Amax-464 is a small media player box built to drive one Ultra HD screen at 3840x2160 from its HDMI output. It runs Android on an Amlogic S905X2 quad-core ARM Cortex A53 processor clocked at 2GHz, with 4GB of memory and 64GB of onboard storage. Its ARM Dvalin MP2 GPU handles graphics. The unit is intended for digital signage, so it sits behind a display rather than acting as the screen itself.

Size and weight: 115 x 115 x 22 mm, 0.5 kg, plastic chassis

Why the Ultra HD output and memory matter

Memory and storage decide how much content a player can hold and how many tasks it can run alongside playback. The source data lists image formats including JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP and TIF, and audio formats including MP3, AAC, FLAC and Ogg. It does not list video codecs, so confirm the video files you plan to play before ordering. The interface languages listed are English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.

Where it fits in Qatar

A private school in Al Wakrah could mount one unit behind a corridor screen to show timetables, announcements and student work, with the player hidden in a ceiling void or cabinet. A hotel in West Bay might use several units for wayfinding screens, one per display, since each box has a single HDMI output. An outpatient clinic in Al Sadd could run appointment and health-advice slides in its waiting area. In each case the wired Ethernet port is the most stable network choice, with Wi-Fi as the fallback where cabling is impractical.

What to plan before ordering

Confirm the environment: the source data gives no operating temperature range, so ask our team to review any cabinet, outdoor or non-air-conditioned location before installation.
Check the power supply: the unit runs on DC 5V/2A, so confirm the adapter for Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains.
Plan one player per display and measure the cable run to each HDMI port.
Decide whether you want the optional digital signage software with 1GB of cloud server storage, and include it in your request.
The unit carries a one-year manufacturer warranty, so keep your purchase order details with the equipment record.

Questions about TC-Amax-464

What is the TC-Amax-464 used for?

It is an Android media player box that sends content to a screen over HDMI, so it is the device behind a display rather than a display itself. Its stated use is digital signage. Typical uses in Qatar include reception screens, meeting-room information panels and looping announcements in schools, clinics and hotel lobbies. Each screen needs its own player because the unit has one HDMI output.

What resolution does it output?

The source data lists a resolution of 3840x2160, which is Ultra HD. Before ordering, confirm that your screen accepts this resolution over HDMI, because picture quality depends on both the display and the cable route. Ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to check the screen specification against the player when you request a quote.

How much memory and storage does it have?

The TC-Amax-464 has 4GB of memory and 64GB of storage, powered by an Amlogic S905X2 quad-core ARM Cortex A53 processor at 2GHz. Storage keeps your playlists, images and audio files on the unit, so playback does not depend on a constant connection. For a school showing a daily timetable and announcements, that leaves room for a large library of slides. Check your file sizes before uploading.

Which file formats can it play?

The data lists image formats HD JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG and TIF, and audio formats MP3, AAC, WMA, RM, FLAC and Ogg. It does not list video codecs, so the source does not confirm which video files will play. Before ordering a looping video campaign, ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to confirm your specific video files.

What ports does it have?

The unit has one HDMI port, one AV output, two USB ports, one RJ45 Ethernet port, one TF card slot and one IR receiver. The HDMI port is the video output to your screen. The two USB ports are useful for local files or accessories. When fixing the player behind a display, plan the cable route and wall box around these connections.

Can it connect to the network by cable or Wi-Fi?

Yes. It has a 10/100/1000 Mbps auto-adaptive RJ45 port and 802.11n Wi-Fi on 2.4GHz and 5GHz. For a permanent screen in a government office or bank, a cabled connection is usually more stable than wireless, so run Ethernet where you can and keep Wi-Fi as a backup. The source does not state a Wi-Fi range, so ask the team to check signal strength at your site.

Can I control it with a remote?

The unit has an IR receiver and Bluetooth 4.x with voice remote support, so it can be operated with a remote during setup or in a meeting room. Confirm the remote model included with your order when requesting a quote, because the source data does not list a remote as a standard accessory.

How is it powered, and does it suit Qatar's power supply?

The player is rated DC 5V/2A and shows a blue LED when working. The source does not state the adapter's input range, so confirm the adapter supplied for Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains and BS 1363 Type G sockets before installation. Keep a socket within reach of the mounting point, and consider a UPS if the signage must keep running through short outages.

How big is it, and where can it be mounted?

It measures 115 x 115 x 22 mm, weighs 0.5 kg and has a plastic chassis, so it can sit behind a screen, inside a cabinet or on a shelf. The source data does not list a mounting bracket or VESA pattern, so ask the team which accessories are available. A free site survey helps plan airflow and cable routes, especially inside enclosed cabinets.

Can it run in a hot or dusty location, such as a car park?

The source data gives no operating temperature range or dust-protection rating, so the TC-Amax-464 should not be assumed suitable for outdoor areas or car parks. Qatar summer temperatures can exceed 45°C, and dust storms are common. Ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to confirm the environment, and plan a ventilated, protected enclosure for any location outside air-conditioned space.

Does it support Arabic on screen?

The language list in the source data includes English, French, German, Spanish and Italian, but Arabic is not named, so the source does not confirm Arabic interface or content support. If your signage is Arabic-only or bilingual, ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to confirm before requesting a quote, and check how your content editor handles right-to-left text.

Is digital signage software included, and what is the warranty?

Digital signage software with 1GB of cloud server storage is offered as a configuration option, so include it in your request if you want it. The manufacturer's warranty is one year. Your quotation will set out exactly what the order includes, so confirm the software option at that stage before placing an order.
