It suits shops, lobbies and corporate reception areas in Qatar. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement.

What the 55B4E31T is built to do

The Hisense 55B4E31T is a 55-inch 4K UHD display made for digital signage, designed to run advertising, menus, wayfinding and information loops in busy indoor spaces. It sits in Hisense's indoor 18/7 range, meaning it is rated for up to 18 hours of operation a day across seven days. The manufacturer lists this model as discontinued, so this page is written for organisations that already run it, buyers comparing it with newer displays, and anyone who needs a like-for-like replacement.

Picture quality, brightness and viewing angle

The panel is an IPS type with a DLED backlight and a native resolution of 3840 x 2160, which gives four times the pixel count of Full HD. Typical brightness is 500 nits and typical contrast is 1,200:1. That level suits lobbies and shop floors under ordinary interior lighting, but a screen facing a large window in direct sun needs a site check before it is specified. The 178° viewing angle keeps content readable for people approaching from the side, which matters for corridor screens in hospitals and hotels.

Running content around the clock

Inside the set are a dual-core System on Chip and internal memory, so playlists can be stored on the display and played without a PC attached. You can also drive it from a CMS of your choice. The Hisense CMS platform handles playlist editing, synchronised playback across screens and status monitoring with real-time control. When connected to the internet, the display sets its local time zone automatically, which keeps schedules accurate across sites. Connectivity covers Wi-Fi on 2.4G and 5G bands and a 10/100Mbps wired LAN port, while RS232 over an RJ45 connector and an IR remote allow control from a building system or a handheld remote. The operating system is Android 8.0.

Where it fits in Qatar

Retail unit in Lusail: a 55-inch screen at shop-front height running promotions from its internal memory during opening hours.
Clinic waiting area in Al Sadd: portrait orientation for a queue number or directory board, mounted on a 400 x 400 mm VESA bracket.
Corporate reception in Msheireb or West Bay: a landscape welcome screen with built-in 8W speakers for short announcements.

What to plan before ordering

Check the environment first. The rated operating range is 0 to 40°C with 20 to 80 percent humidity, so the display belongs in an air-conditioned interior. Qatar summer temperatures outdoors can exceed 45°C, so avoid open courtyards, unventilated kiosks and positions where direct sun or dust storms reach the glass. The set weighs 16.6 kg net (21.8 kg packed) and measures 1241.8 x 712.6 x 69.7 mm, so a rated wall bracket and a site survey are advisable. For video walls, the 13.9 mm bezel on each edge sets the visible gap between panels. It draws 171W in operation and under 0.5W on standby, and carries CB, CE, ERP, RCM, FCC, IC, CEC and cTUVus certifications.

The box contains a user manual, a remote controller with battery, a power cord, an RS232 cable and an HDMI cable. For a school or office ordering several units, a purchase order (LPO) can be raised, and SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey to confirm wall positions and power points. Request a quote for a current replacement that matches your wall, cabling and content plan, and expect a quotation from our team usually within one working day.

Questions about 55B4E31T

Is the Hisense 55B4E31T still available from the manufacturer?

No. Hisense lists the 55B4E31T under discontinued products, so new units may no longer be obtainable from the manufacturer. SmartRooms Qatar can quote for a current equivalent or a compatible replacement that matches the 55-inch size, 4K resolution and 18/7 operation you need. If you already run this model, tell us how many units you have and where they are installed, and we will suggest options and a replacement quotation.

What is the 55B4E31T designed for?

It is a 55-inch 4K UHD display built for digital signage that runs up to 18 hours a day, seven days a week. It suits shop floors, mall units, restaurant entrances, hotel lobbies and corporate receptions where advertising, menus, wayfinding or information loops must play all day. Because it stores media internally and supports RS232 control, it works both as a standalone loop player and within a managed network.

How bright is the screen for a lobby with daylight coming through the windows?

The panel is rated at 500 nits typical brightness, which suits indoor areas with ordinary artificial lighting. A lobby with large windows facing the afternoon sun can wash out the picture, particularly in summer when the sun is high. We recommend a site survey to check sightlines, glare and the screen position relative to the glazing, and to choose a spot away from direct sunlight.

Can it show content in portrait mode for a queue or directory board?

Yes. The panel supports both landscape and portrait orientation, so the same model can serve as a tall directory board, a queue number screen or a vertical menu. In a clinic in Al Sadd or a government service centre in Doha, portrait mounting suits narrow corridors and reception columns. Set the orientation before fixing the bracket, and confirm that the 400 x 400 mm VESA pattern matches your wall mount.

Will it run on Qatar's mains power supply?

The power input is rated AC 100V to 240V at 50 to 60Hz, which covers the 240 V, 50 Hz supply used in Qatar. Power consumption is rated at 171W, and standby consumption is below 0.5W, so a screen left in standby overnight adds very little to the electricity bill. A power cord is included in the box. Please confirm the plug type with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering, as the data sheet does not state it.

What temperature and humidity can it handle?

The rated operating range is 0 to 40°C with humidity between 20 and 80 percent. Summer temperatures in Doha, Al Khor or Mesaieed can climb above 45°C, so the display should be installed in an air-conditioned space, not in an open courtyard, an unventilated kiosk or a position where direct sun or dust storms reach the screen. Confirm room cooling and airflow during the site survey before choosing the location.

Can I run content without a PC?

Yes. The internal memory and dual-core System on Chip allow media and playlists to be saved on the display and played back with no computer connected. This suits a retail unit or reception desk where dedicating a PC would add cost and another point of failure. To update content across several screens, use the Hisense CMS platform or another CMS you choose. The display runs Android 8.0 as its operating system.

Which content management systems does it work with?

You are free to choose the CMS you already use. Hisense also offers its own platform, which lets you edit playlists, arrange rich media, synchronise playback across several displays and monitor status with real-time control. For a school group or a bank branch network managing sites across Qatar, one scheduling system for every screen simplifies operations. Ask SmartRooms Qatar to confirm that your chosen CMS works with Android 8.0 before you buy.

How do I control it from a room system or a remote?

The display accepts RS232 control through an RJ45 connector, and an RS232 cable is in the box. It also responds to the IR remote supplied with its battery. Wired LAN runs at 10/100Mbps, and Wi-Fi supports the 2.4G and 5G bands. That speed is adequate for playlists and status messages, but it is not suited to moving large video files quickly, so store media locally wherever possible.

Can several units form a video wall?

Yes, but plan the bezel carefully. The set has a 13.9 mm bezel on all four sides, so adjacent panels will show a visible gap. Each unit weighs 16.6 kg net and 21.8 kg packed, so a multi-screen wall needs a bracket rated for that load, secure fixings and a survey of the wall structure. A menu wall in a Lusail shopping mall or a lobby in The Pearl needs a layout drawn before the order is placed.

What is included in the box?

The box includes a user manual, a remote controller with battery, a power cord, an RS232 cable and an HDMI cable. The packing data does not list wall brackets, so confirm mounting hardware with your installer or with SmartRooms Qatar when you request a quote. The packed weight is 21.8 kg and the packed dimensions are 1350 x 860 x 160 mm, which helps when planning delivery to a site in the Industrial Area or Ras Laffan.

Can a school or government office order several units on a purchase order?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including those on Monaqasat, and payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. For a school in Al Wakrah fitting out a corridor with several 55-inch units, we can quote all units on one order after a free site survey confirms wall positions, power points and cable routes. Include the quantity and mounting locations when you request a quote.
