What the LG 22SM3B does on a small screen

The LG 22SM3B is a standard-format digital signage display for showing menus, promotions and information in compact spaces. Its panel is listed at 21.5 inches with a 1,920 x 1,080 Full HD resolution and a brightness rating of 250 cd/m². Those figures suit close viewing distances, such as a counter menu or a screen at a till, where text has to stay readable without a large footprint.

A quad core system-on-chip is designed to run several tasks at the same time, which the manufacturer links to smooth content playback. The data also lists compatibility with the SuperSign-w lite and SuperSign-c software, so managers can plan how content is scheduled and updated across their screens.

Connections and control that matter for a menu board

The display has one HDMI 1.4b input with HDCP 2.2, one analog RGB input with a matching RGB audio input, and one USB 3.0 port for playing content from a drive. It has no DisplayPort or DVI input and no SD card slot, so check the output of your source device before ordering.

For control, the unit offers RS232C IN, an RJ45 control port, a built-in IR receiver and a pixel sensor input. The pixel sensor is sold as an optional accessory (KT-SP0). The package includes a remote controller with two batteries and a phone-to-RS232C gender adapter to help with cabling.

Mirroring: the data lists content sharing over a Wi-Fi network.
SoftAP: the display can operate as a wireless access point for mobile devices.
Media player: no OPS slot and no external media player attachment are listed.

Where it fits in Qatar

A café or restaurant in West Bay or Msheireb can mount the 22SM3B at counter height to show a changing menu, with a laptop or USB drive feeding the screen through HDMI or USB. Because the unit is light and slim, staff can update it without rebuilding the frame.

A pharmacy outlet in Al Sadd or The Pearl could use one for health tips and service announcements near the counter, keeping the message loop separate from the main dispensing area. A private school in Al Rayyan could place several units in corridors for timetables and notices, where the control options help the facilities team manage them from one point.

Planning the installation

Head dimensions are 510.3 mm x 302.1 mm x 53.8 mm, with a weight of 3.6 kg.
The VESA mount interface is 100 mm x 100 mm, so check your bracket spacing before ordering.
The bezel is 16.3 mm on all four sides, which shows as a visible gap if several units are placed side by side.
The data does not list an operating temperature range, so confirm the environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team for sun-exposed shopfronts or dusty lobbies.

Questions about 22SM3B

What is the LG 22SM3B designed for?

It is a 22-inch digital signage display for showing menus, promotions and information in compact spaces. Its 21.5-inch panel at 1,920 x 1,080 suits counter menus, small retail displays and back-office information screens where viewers stand close. Check the 250 cd/m² brightness rating against your room's lighting before you commit to a location.

Does the 22SM3B need an external media player?

No. The data lists no OPS slot and no compatible external media player. Content can be played from a USB 3.0 drive, and the listed software compatibility covers SuperSign-w lite and SuperSign-c. If you plan to manage content from a central system, tell the SmartRooms Qatar team which software you use when you request a quote.

Which video inputs does it have?

The display has one HDMI 1.4b input with HDCP 2.2 and one analog RGB input with a matching RGB audio input. There is no DisplayPort or DVI input and no SD card slot. A laptop with only a DisplayPort output would need a suitable adapter, so check your source device before ordering.

How can the screen be controlled from a management system?

The listed control options are RS232C IN, RJ45, a built-in IR receiver and a pixel sensor input. The pixel sensor is sold separately as KT-SP0. A phone-to-RS232C gender adapter is included to help with cabling. Confirm your control method with the team so the correct cables and accessories are included in your quotation.

What comes in the box?

The basic package includes a remote controller with two batteries, a power cord, a quick setup guide, an RGB cable and a phone-to-RS232C gender adapter. The pixel sensor is an optional accessory and is not included by default. Ask for it in your quotation if you plan to use that input, so it is not missing on installation day.

Can staff share content to the screen from phones over Wi-Fi?

The data lists a Mirroring feature for content sharing over a Wi-Fi network, and a SoftAP function that lets the display act as a wireless access point for mobile devices. These are useful for quick content updates in a café back office or meeting area. Ask the team to confirm how your network and staff devices will connect before purchase.

Will it fit a menu board in a café in West Bay?

The head measures 510.3 mm by 302.1 mm by 53.8 mm and weighs 3.6 kg, so it suits a slim wall or counter frame. It mounts on a 100 x 100 mm VESA pattern. Measure your frame opening and bracket spacing against these figures, and book a free site survey if the wall is a glass partition or shopfront.

Is it suitable for a shop with sunlight on a glass frontage?

The data does not give an operating temperature range or a sunlight rating for this model. For shops in Msheireb or the Industrial Area with glazed frontage, or lobbies exposed to Qatar's summer heat and dust, confirm the environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before quoting. Keeping the screen out of direct sun is the safer plan until that is confirmed.

Does the 16.3 mm bezel matter for multi-screen layouts?

The bezel is 16.3 mm on the top, right, left and bottom edges. When several units sit in a row, that border shows as a visible gap between images, so the 22SM3B suits separate menu or information screens better than a continuous video wall. Plan the layout with the team when you request a quote.

Is the LG 22SM3B covered by a warranty?

Products supplied by SmartRooms Qatar are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. The data provided for this model does not list a warranty period or terms, so those details should be confirmed with your quotation. Ask for the warranty terms in writing if your procurement process needs them before issuing a purchase order.

We need several units for a school in Al Rayyan. How do we order?

Schools can order by LPO, and payment is accepted by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. For corridor notice screens, state the number of units, the wall locations and the control method in your request. SmartRooms Qatar delivers to all 8 municipalities and can arrange professional installation, and a free site survey helps confirm mounting heights and nearby power points.
