What the 32RS1Q is and how its screen behaves

The LG 32RS1Q is a 31.5-inch electronic ink display built on the Eink Spectra 6 panel technology listed in its specification sheet. Unlike a backlit LCD or LED screen, an electronic ink panel keeps its image without continuous power and only consumes power when the content changes. The manufacturer rates typical consumption at 4W, maximum at 6W, and 0.5W or less when switched off. The 16:9 panel has a native resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 (QHD), a 180 degree viewing angle both horizontally and vertically, and can be used in portrait or landscape orientation.

Specifications that matter for a Qatar deployment

The housing measures 724.7 x 420.1 x 17.8 mm and narrows to 8.6 mm at its slimmest edge. Its 13.3 mm calming beige bezel gives it a neutral look that suits offices, clinics and hotel receptions. The head weighs 3.1 kg with its battery and two hanging bolts, and the packed weight is 5.4 kg. A built-in 72 Wh battery is charged through a USB Type-C input with the supplied 65W adaptor, which the manufacturer says takes about three hours to fully charge. The adaptor lists an input of 100 to 240V AC at 50/60Hz. The display is rated for 24/7 operation with a lifetime of at least 50,000 hours, and includes 8GB of internal memory, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It has no built-in speaker.

Where it fits in Qatar

Cafes and restaurants in The Pearl or Msheireb: a menu or daily specials board that changes a few times a week, without a backlit screen running all day.
Pharmacies and clinic receptions in Al Sadd or Al Rayyan: queue notices, opening hours and health information that staff update from one location, with the display changing only when new content is loaded.
Hotel lobbies and serviced apartments in West Bay or Lusail: wayfinding, event schedules and welcome messages with a calm, paper-like finish that suits the decor.

Content management and connectivity

Content can be loaded from USB storage, through Content Manager in a web browser, or from a customer's own CMS server. Control Manager handles device settings from the browser, so no mobile app is needed. Local content scheduling runs each unit's playlist, and LG SuperSign CMS is listed as compatible for managing several screens from one platform.

Planning the installation and operating environment

The operating range is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius with 30 to 70 percent non-condensing humidity, so the 32RS1Q suits air-conditioned indoor spaces. Keep it away from outdoor areas, direct sunlight and entrances, where summer heat in Qatar can exceed 45 degrees Celsius. Wall mounting uses a 100 x 100 mm VESA pattern, and the ceiling option uses a wire-hanging mount with two bolts supplied. The panel tilts face-up or face-down up to 30 degrees. A free site survey helps confirm ceiling fixings, cable routes and sightlines before installation.

Questions about 32RS1Q

What is the LG 32RS1Q and who is it for?

The LG 32RS1Q is a 31.5-inch electronic ink display for signage that changes occasionally, such as menus, notices, room schedules and wayfinding. It suits cafes, pharmacies, hotel lobbies and offices in Qatar that want a paper-like screen with low power use. If your content is video or changes many times a day, a conventional LCD or LED display is usually a better fit. Request a quote and we will confirm which product matches your content.

How does an electronic ink display use power compared with a normal screen?

The 32RS1Q only consumes power when its screen content changes. The manufacturer rates typical consumption at 4W and maximum at 6W, with 0.5W or less when powered off. A backlit display keeps drawing power to show the same image, so the 32RS1Q suits static content that is updated from time to time. This reduces running cost for menus or notices that stay on screen for hours.

What resolution and viewing angle does the 32RS1Q offer?

The panel has a native resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 (QHD) in a 16:9 aspect ratio. The manufacturer lists a viewing angle of 180 degrees horizontally and vertically, so text can be read from the side of a counter or from a corridor. The contrast ratio is listed as 15:1 minimum and 22:1 maximum, which suits text-based content rather than photographs or video.

How is the 32RS1Q charged, and how long does the battery last?

The unit has a built-in 72 Wh battery and a USB Type-C power input that accepts the supplied 65W adaptor. The manufacturer quotes about three hours to fully charge with that adaptor. The data does not state a battery runtime, so runtime depends on how the unit is used and should be confirmed with SmartRooms Qatar before you rely on battery-only operation.

Can the 32RS1Q be installed outdoors or in a hot Qatar space?

No. The operating temperature range is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius at 30 to 70 percent humidity, non-condensing. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45 degrees Celsius, so the 32RS1Q should be placed indoors in air-conditioned areas, away from windows, entrances and direct sunlight. If you are unsure about a specific location, ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to review it before you order.

How is the 32RS1Q mounted, and does it need a site survey?

The rear has a 100 x 100 mm VESA mounting pattern for wall installation. For ceiling installation, a wire-hanging mount with two bolts is supplied. The head weighs 3.1 kg with battery and bolts, so it is light, but a site survey is still useful for confirming ceiling fixings, cable routes and sightlines. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys before installation.

Can the screen be used in portrait orientation or tilted?

Yes. The manufacturer lists portrait and landscape orientation as supported. The display can also be tilted face-up or face-down to a maximum of 30 degrees. Portrait use suits menu boards, directory signs and corridor notices, while the tilt range helps when placing the unit on a counter or table as well as on a wall.

How is content loaded and scheduled on the 32RS1Q?

Content can be delivered through USB storage, through Content Manager in a web browser, or from a customer's own CMS server. Local content scheduling lets each unit run its own playlist, and the display switches to power-saving mode outside scheduled updates. For several screens, the source lists LG SuperSign CMS as compatible, so a facilities team can distribute content from one platform.

Does the 32RS1Q have a built-in speaker or wireless connectivity?

The 32RS1Q has no built-in speaker, so it is intended for visual signage only. It includes built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 8GB of internal eMMC memory, and one USB 2.0 Type-C input. It also has acceleration, temperature and humidity sensors and local key operation on the unit, which helps with setup in a shop, clinic or office.

Will the supplied power adaptor work with Qatar's 240V supply?

The adaptor lists an AC input range of 100 to 240V at 50/60Hz, which covers Qatar's 240V, 50Hz mains supply. The data does not state the plug type of the supplied power cord, so please confirm the plug fitting for BS 1363 (Type G) sockets with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering, especially if you need a specific cable length or wall outlet location.

Is the 32RS1Q suitable for a restaurant or cafe in The Pearl or Msheireb?

Yes, for a menu or daily specials board in an air-conditioned dining area. Its typical power use of 4W and maximum of 6W keeps the running load low, and it only refreshes when new content is loaded. Mount it on a wall away from direct sunlight and kitchen heat, which stays within the 0 to 40 degree operating range, and ask us for a quotation for the number of units you need.

Can a school, ministry or company order several 32RS1Q units with an LPO?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders and LPOs, including for government ministries, authorities and schools, and payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. We supply and deliver to all eight municipalities of Qatar, and quotations are usually issued within one working day. Send the quantity, mounting method and delivery location to receive a quotation for your 32RS1Q units.
