Name: LG 43UP5Q-EQ 43-inch UHD Digital Signage Display (Discontinued)
Brand: LG
SKU: lg-43up5q-eq
Availability: Discontinued

Overview

The LG 43UP5Q-EQ is a 43-inch UHD signage display with 3840x2160 resolution, built-in webOS 8.0 and 32GB internal storage that supports local content scheduling. Its ports include three HDMI inputs, one DisplayPort input, LAN and RS232C control. The manufacturer has discontinued this model. Organisations in Qatar that already own it, or need an indoor replacement, can request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement.

What the 43UP5Q-EQ is

The LG 43UP5Q-EQ is a 43-inch UHD signage display rated at 3840x2160 resolution, built to show menus, wayfinding, announcements and promotional content in reception areas, corridors and small meeting spaces. Its black bezel measures 8.9 mm on the top, right and left sides and 12.9 mm at the bottom, which keeps the frame slim when several units sit side by side. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so this page is written for organisations that already own it, buyers comparing it with newer models, and anyone who needs a replacement.

Connectivity and on-screen playback

The display provides three HDMI inputs that accept 3840x2160 at 60Hz with HDCP 2.2 or 1.4, one DisplayPort input at the same resolution, a LAN port, an IR input, and RS232C input and output for controlling several panels from one source. Two USB ports, one USB 3.0 Type A and one USB 2.0 Type A, and an audio output complete the connections.

Playback is handled on the panel itself. The built-in webOS 8.0 platform and 32GB of internal eMMC storage support local content scheduling, group management, USB plug and play, failover, and tile mode of up to 15x15 panels. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are included, and the unit supports Crestron Connected, SNMP and Wake on LAN for integration into managed networks.

Heat, dust and placement in Qatar

The rated operating range is 0°C to 40°C with 10% to 80% humidity. Qatar summer temperatures regularly pass 45°C, so a unit placed near a sun-exposed window, in a lobby with poor cooling or in a non-air-conditioned space would run outside its rated range. Keep it in an air-conditioned room and confirm the position with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation. The IP5X rating indicates protection against dust ingress, but it does not make the unit suitable for direct exposure to dust storms.

Mounting, power and planning

Head weight 11.1 kg; packed weight 12.8 kg.
VESA 200 x 200 mount interface.
Optional slim wall mount WB21LMA/B and wall mount LSW240A/B.
Built-in power supply rated AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz.
Typical 69W and maximum 127W consumption per manufacturer data.

Because the head weighs over 11 kg before a bracket is added, a site survey helps confirm wall construction and fixing points before hanging the unit. The 100-240V input covers Qatar's 240 V mains, but check circuit capacity when several displays share one distribution board. Some consumption and BTU figures in the manufacturer data are still marked TBD, so confirm them against the current datasheet when planning.

Requesting a quote

Because this model is discontinued, the best next step is to tell us how many 43-inch UHD displays you need and where they will go. We can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement, deliver to all eight municipalities of Qatar, and arrange professional installation. Schools, ministries and other government bodies can order against a purchase order (LPO) or a government tender. Request a quote, and quotations are usually returned within one working day.

Questions about 43UP5Q-EQ

Is the LG 43UP5Q-EQ still available from LG?

No. The manufacturer has discontinued the 43UP5Q-EQ. If your organisation already runs this display, or you are comparing it with newer models, SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement. Send us the number of units and the installation location, and we will suggest options with a 43-inch size and UHD resolution that fit your requirements.

What kind of organisation is this 43-inch display suited to?

It suits reception areas, corridors and small meeting spaces where visitors stand or walk close to the screen. A clinic reception in Msheireb could show waiting-room information and health notices, while a hotel lobby in West Bay could display directions and event listings. For large lecture halls or boardrooms, a larger panel would be a better fit.

Can I place it near a window or in a non-air-conditioned area in Qatar?

We advise against it. The manufacturer rates operation from 0°C to 40°C and 10% to 80% humidity, while Qatar summer temperatures regularly exceed 45°C. A display facing direct sun through a window, or installed in an unconditioned space, would run outside its rated range. Keep it in an air-conditioned room and confirm the exact position with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation.

How many inputs does it have, and what resolution does it accept?

It has three HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort input, and all accept 3840x2160 at 60Hz. HDMI supports HDCP 2.2 and 1.4, while DisplayPort supports HDCP 2.2 and 1.3. The panel also includes a LAN port, an IR input, RS232C input and output for control, a USB 3.0 Type A port, a USB 2.0 Type A port and an audio output.

Can it play content without a separate computer connected?

Yes. The display runs webOS 8.0 and has 32GB of internal eMMC storage, so it can play locally scheduled content. The manufacturer's feature list includes local content scheduling, USB plug and play, local network sync, failover and play via URL. Confirm your content workflow for each site before ordering, especially if several locations need different schedules.

Which content management software is compatible?

The manufacturer lists compatibility with SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control+, SuperSign WB, SuperSign Cloud, Mobile CMS and Connected Care. It also supports Crestron Connected, SNMP and Wake on LAN, which help with centrally managed deployments. An IT team should confirm the chosen software and network policy before installation, and SmartRooms Qatar can help plan that setup.

Can I combine several units into a video wall?

Yes. Tile mode supports layouts up to 15x15 panels. The bezel measures 8.9 mm on three sides and 12.9 mm at the bottom, so the bottom edge will be the more visible seam when units are stacked vertically. A shopping mall in Lusail might join several panels to show one promotional image. Confirm the layout, controller and wall structure before ordering.

What are the weight and mounting requirements?

The head weighs 11.1 kg and the packed weight is 12.8 kg. The mount interface is VESA 200 x 200. Optional wall mounts include the WB21LMA/B slim wall mount and the LSW240A/B wall mount. A free site survey before installation checks wall construction and fixing points, and the panel can be tilted face down up to 15 degrees with that limit specified at 40°C.

What is the power consumption?

The manufacturer lists typical consumption of 69W and maximum consumption of 127W, with 0.5W in DPM and power-off modes. The built-in power supply is rated AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V mains. Some consumption figures are still marked TBD in the source data. When installing several displays on one circuit, check the load, and SmartRooms Qatar can help you estimate it.

Does the on-screen menu support Arabic?

Yes. The on-screen display language list includes Arabic alongside English, French, Spanish and many other languages. In a ministry office in Doha where staff work in Arabic and English side by side, the menu language can be set on the panel to suit each user. Menu language and content language are separate settings, so check the language of your signage content as well.

What accessories come in the box, and what about warranty?

The basic accessories include a remote controller with two batteries, a power cord, a quick setup guide, a regulation booklet, a phone-to-RS232C gender adapter, two cable holders and an AC cord holder. Wall mounts are sold separately. The unit is covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and you should ask for the warranty terms to be stated in your quotation.

How do schools and government offices order this display?

Send us the quantity, the model reference and the delivery address. We deliver to all eight municipalities of Qatar and accept purchase orders (LPOs), government tenders including Monaqasat, and payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. A private school in Al Wakrah ordering several 43-inch displays can cover the whole quantity under one LPO, with a free site survey before installation.
