LG 49UH5J-H 49-inch UHD Standard Signage Display

Overview

The LG 49UH5J-H is a 49-inch UHD signage display with a 500 nit IPS panel, 3840 x 2160 resolution and a 24/7 operation rating. It runs webOS 6.0 with 16GB internal memory, offers three HDMI inputs and a LAN port, and carries IP5X dust protection plus a conformal-coated power board. It suits indoor marketing screens in Doha malls, airport-area retail and corporate lobbies.

The LG 49UH5J-H is a 49-inch standard signage display built around a 3840 x 2160 IPS panel. It is meant for content that has to be read from a distance in busy public areas, such as promotional loops in shopping malls, airport concourses and retail floors. The typical brightness of 500 nit is the figure to check against the light in your space, because the manufacturer recommends this model for indoor displays.

Panel, colour and viewing performance

The IPS panel offers a 178-degree viewing angle both horizontally and vertically, so people approaching from the side still see the same picture. Colour depth is 1.07 billion colours with 95% BT709 gamut coverage. The native contrast ratio is 1,000:1 and the dynamic contrast ratio is 1,000,000:1. The 60Hz refresh rate and 8 ms grey-to-grey response suit looping video and motion graphics. A 28% haze surface treatment is intended to reduce glare from windows and overhead lights, which matters in lobbies with glass frontage. The edge backlight is rated for at least 50,000 hours.

Built-in software, connectivity and control

The display runs webOS 6.0 with 16GB of internal eMMC memory, plus built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Three HDMI inputs, a DisplayPort input, a DVI-D input, a LAN input, a USB 2.0 Type A port and RS232C in and out give integrators several ways to connect players and control systems. HDMI and DisplayPort signals can be daisy-chained through an HDMI output. The software list includes Crestron Connected, Cisco certification, SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Cloud, Mobile CMS and Connected Care, so the screen can be managed centrally rather than visited site by site. Tile Mode and PBP/PIP settings support multi-screen layouts.

Dust protection, power and installation planning

The 49UH5J-H carries an IP5X rating for protection against dust ingress, and its power board has a conformal coating that guards against salt, dust, iron powder and humidity. The operating range is 0 °C to 40 °C with 10% to 80% humidity. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45 °C, so the screen should sit in an air-conditioned indoor space away from direct sun through glass, and room temperature should be checked during the site survey. The head weighs 15.4 kg and 16.0 kg with the optional ST-653T stand. The 300 x 300 mm VESA interface accepts the optional LSW350B wall bracket. Bezels measure 9.9 mm on the top and sides and 14.4 mm at the bottom. Power consumption is 100 W typical and 140 W maximum on AC 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz through a built-in power supply.

Where it fits in Qatar

Retail and malls: a shop front or mall corridor in West Bay or Msheireb running looping product promotions.
Transport hubs: a gate-area or check-in information screen in the Hamad International Airport area.
Corporate lobbies: a reception screen in Lusail or The Pearl showing visitor information and company news, updated remotely.

What to plan before you order

Confirm the mounting method, cable routes and room environment first. If you are buying several units for a video wall in a mall atrium or lobby, decide the tile layout early and account for the wider bottom bezel. Request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar and we will arrange a free site survey, delivery to all eight municipalities of Qatar and professional installation. We accept purchase orders and LPOs, and quotations are usually issued within one working day.

Send your room dimensions, lighting conditions and mounting details and ask for a quotation for the LG 49UH5J-H.

Questions about 49UH5J-H

What is the LG 49UH5J-H designed for?

The LG 49UH5J-H is a 49-inch standard signage display for indoor public and commercial spaces such as shopping malls, airport areas, retail stores and meeting rooms. Its 3840 x 2160 IPS panel and 500 nit typical brightness keep promotional and information content readable from a distance. It suits buyers who need a reliable screen for looping adverts or wayfinding, rather than a touch-based interactive panel for meetings.

Is 500 nit bright enough for a shop front facing daylight in Qatar?

The 500 nit typical rating is the figure the manufacturer recommends for indoor displays. A unit facing a glass frontage in West Bay or Msheireb can look washed out in direct daylight, so position it away from windows and check the lighting during a site survey. Ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to review the layout before you request a quote, because glare depends on the room.

Can I install it in an unshaded outdoor area or a room without air conditioning?

No, that is not a suitable location. The manufacturer lists an operating temperature of 0 °C to 40 °C and humidity of 10% to 80%, and summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45 °C. Choose an air-conditioned indoor space such as a lobby or corridor, and confirm the environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before placing your order.

What does the IP5X rating mean for a dusty site?

IP5X means the enclosure is protected against dust ingress, which helps where fine sand and dust are common, such as industrial areas around Mesaieed or Ras Laffan. The power board also has a conformal coating that protects against salt, dust, iron powder and humidity. Dust protection does not change the 40 °C operating limit, so it is not a reason to place the screen outdoors.

Which inputs and outputs does it offer for connecting players and devices?

The display has three HDMI inputs, one DisplayPort input, one DVI-D input, one RJ45 LAN input, a USB 2.0 Type A port, audio in and out, IR in, and RS232C in and out. An HDMI output allows daisy-chaining. It has no RGB input, no touch USB and no DisplayPort output. It is compatible with piggyback-type OPS modules, but OPS power is not built in; the optional OPS Kit KT-OPSF is the listed accessory for that use.

Can it play content on its own, and how much storage does it have?

The display runs webOS 6.0 with 16GB of internal eMMC memory, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and listed features including Local Contents Scheduling, Play via URL and USB Plug and Play. These let you schedule content locally on the screen, but the right setup depends on your content and network. Confirm the playback method with SmartRooms Qatar when you request a quote, especially for shops with limited network access.

Can it be integrated with a Crestron or other AV control system?

Yes. The specifications list Crestron Connected support, which allows integration with professional AV control systems and network-based control. The model also lists RS232C control and Wake on LAN. Confirm your control processor version and the commands you need with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation, so integration is planned from the start.

Can I build a video wall with several units, and what bezel width should I expect?

Yes, the display supports Tile Mode settings for multi-screen layouts. Its bezels are 9.9 mm on the top, left and right and 14.4 mm at the bottom, so the bottom join will be slightly wider than the sides. For a lobby wall in Lusail or a mall atrium, plan the grid, cable routing and the weight of each unit during a site survey before ordering several units.

How heavy is it, and what mounting options are available?

The head weighs 15.4 kg and 16.0 kg with the optional ST-653T stand, and the packed weight is 18.8 kg. It has a 300 x 300 mm VESA interface for the optional LSW350B wall bracket. Tilt is listed as up to 30 degrees face down. Before mounting on plasterboard or an unsupported wall, a site survey should confirm the structure and fixings suitable for a unit of this weight.

Does the on-screen menu support Arabic?

Yes. The on-screen menu language list includes Arabic alongside English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, Russian and many others. This helps offices and schools in Doha where staff work in Arabic and English side by side, and it lets facilities teams adjust settings in the language they prefer. Confirm the language setup with the SmartRooms Qatar team when you request a quote.

How much power does it use, and what comes in the box?

Typical consumption is 100 W and maximum consumption is 140 W, with 70 W under Smart Energy Saving and 0.5 W in power-off mode. It runs on AC 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz through a built-in power supply. The box includes a remote controller with two batteries, a power cord, a quick start guide, a regulation book and a phone-to-RS232C gender adapter. The stand and wall bracket are optional extras.

How do I order this display for a school, government entity or tender?

Request a quote with the number of units, the mounting plan and the room environment. SmartRooms Qatar supplies the 49UH5J-H with delivery to all eight municipalities of Qatar and professional installation, and a free site survey is available before a 15.4 kg head is wall-mounted. We accept purchase orders, LPOs, and government tenders including Monaqasat, with payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Quotations are usually issued within one working day.
