What the 98UH5F-H is and where it fits

The LG 98UH5F-H is a 98-inch standard signage display with a 3840 x 2160 UHD panel, giving four times the pixel count of Full HD. It uses an IPS panel with a viewing angle of 178 degrees both horizontally and vertically, so people standing at the side of a room still see accurate colour and clear text. The body measures 2191.8 x 1246.8 x 83.8 mm, a large single-screen format suited to wayfinding, announcements and presentation walls.

Glare control and brightness for bright Qatari spaces

Many lobbies in Doha have large glazing and strong daylight. This model carries a 28% haze surface treatment that diffuses reflections and helps small text stay legible. Typical brightness is 500 nit, and the panel includes an auto brightness sensor. It is rated for a 120 Hz refresh rate and an 8 ms grey-to-grey response time, with a typical contrast ratio of 1,200:1.

Built-in playback and central control

webOS 4.0 runs on a built-in quad-core SoC with 8GB of internal eMMC storage, so content can play without a separate media player. Control Manager, an embedded web tool, lets an IT team monitor and control several displays in different locations in real time. Crestron Connected and Cisco certification mean the screen can join a professional AV control system or a Cisco video conferencing room.

Connectivity and inputs

Video: three HDMI inputs (HDCP 2.2/1.4), one DisplayPort input and one DisplayPort output, plus a DVI-D input
Network and control: one RJ45 LAN input, RS232C in and out, IR in, and built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Other: two USB 2.0 Type A ports, audio in and out, and two built-in 10 W speakers

Check these before ordering: HDMI out and RGB in are not provided, and the model does not accept OPS modules, so an external PC must connect through HDMI or DisplayPort.

Planning the installation

The head weighs 81.1 kg and the packed weight is 119 kg, so the delivery route, lift access and wall or stand must all be planned for that load. The VESA mount pattern is 800 x 400 mm. Power input is AC 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz with built-in power, which covers Qatar's 240 V supply. Typical draw is 420 W and the maximum is 560 W, which should be included in circuit planning. The operating range is 0 to 40 °C and 10 to 80% humidity, so any space that can run hotter, such as an unventilated corridor or a glazed area in summer, needs cooling designed in. A free site survey will confirm the wall, the access route and the environment before installation.

Qatar scenarios

A bank branch in West Bay replacing a wall of printed posters with one 98-inch screen for rates and promotions, managed centrally across branches.
A government ministry lobby in Doha showing wayfinding and service queue information in English and Arabic, with the menu set to Arabic.
A corporate meeting room in Lusail where an AV controller operates the screen through Crestron and calls connect to a Cisco room system.

Questions about 98UH5F-H

What is the LG 98UH5F-H best suited for?

The LG 98UH5F-H is a 98-inch standard signage display for lobbies, corridors, waiting areas and meeting rooms. Its 3840 x 2160 resolution keeps small text sharp at reading distance, and its 28% haze surface helps in rooms with large windows. It suits organisations that want one large screen for information, announcements and presentations rather than a multi-screen video wall.

Does the display need an external media player?

No. The display runs webOS 4.0 on a built-in quad-core SoC with 8GB of internal eMMC storage, so it can play content without a separate media player. It also supports play via URL and local content scheduling, so a school or hotel in Al Rayyan can run timed messages without leaving a computer connected.

How bright is the screen in a room with daylight?

The panel has a typical brightness of 500 nit and a 28% haze surface treatment that reduces reflections from windows and lighting. The model also includes an auto brightness sensor. For sites that get direct sun, we recommend a site survey before choosing the mounting position, so the window orientation and light path can be checked.

Can it connect to a Cisco video conference system?

Yes. The UH5F-H series is certified for compatibility with Cisco systems and offers integrated control for video calls. That can reduce the time spent adjusting picture settings or changing inputs when a call arrives. Confirm your Cisco codec and room setup with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.

Can it be controlled through Crestron or other AV systems?

Yes. The model is listed as Crestron Connected, which supports professional AV control and automated room control. It also has RS232C in and out, an IR input and an RJ45 LAN input for network control. A government meeting room in Msheireb, for example, could operate the screen from a central control panel.

How do I manage several screens across different sites?

Control Manager is an embedded web monitoring tool that lets you check and control several displays in different locations in real time from internet-connected devices. The model also supports Wake on LAN, SNMP and status mailing. For a school group with campuses in several areas, this means content and settings can be changed without visiting each screen.

What are the power requirements?

The built-in power supply accepts AC 100-240 V at 50/60 Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V mains supply. Typical consumption is 420 W, with a maximum of 560 W and 294 W in smart energy saving mode at 70%. Review circuit capacity with your electrician before installation, especially if several units share one supply.

How heavy is the screen and what mount does it need?

The head weighs 81.1 kg and the packed weight is 119 kg. The VESA mount interface is 800 x 400 mm. The wall or stand must be rated for this weight and match the VESA pattern. At just over 2 metres wide, the display also needs a planned route through doors and lifts, which a free site survey can check.

Is it suitable for rooms that get hot?

The operating range is 0 to 40 °C with 10 to 80% humidity. Spaces that can exceed 40 °C, such as unventilated corridors or glazed atriums, fall outside this range. Summer temperatures in Qatar can pass 45 °C, so confirm the room's cooling capacity with the SmartRooms Qatar team during the site survey.

Does it have Arabic on-screen menus?

Yes. The on-screen display language list includes Arabic alongside English and many other languages. Offices in Doha that work in Arabic and English side by side can set the menus to the language their staff use. Content language is separate and depends on the files you play.

Which ports are available for a laptop or media box?

The display has three HDMI inputs with HDCP 2.2/1.4, a DisplayPort input and output, a DVI-D input, two USB 2.0 Type A ports, audio in and out, and an RJ45 LAN input. HDMI out is not provided and there is no OPS slot, so an external computer connects through HDMI or DisplayPort.

What comes in the box?

The basic accessories include a remote controller with two batteries, a power cord, a 1.8 m DP cable, an IR/light sensor receiver, a quick start guide, a regulation book, a phone-to-RS232C gender adapter and eye-bolts. No optional accessories are listed. Procurement teams can check this list against their project before requesting additional cables.
