A 55-inch 4K panel built for continuous signage

The Newline 55" DSX pairs a 1210 x 680 mm active area with 3840 x 2160 resolution, so menus, wayfinding and promotional loops stay crisp at the distances people usually read them. The 700 nit panel is rated for brightly lit foyers and glazed corridors, and a 178° viewing angle keeps the picture readable for people standing to one side. Its display life is rated at 50,000 hours, and the unit is specified for operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The specifications that matter at this size

Panel: Direct LED with 1.07 billion colours, 5000:1 contrast, 60 Hz refresh and 6.5 ms response time
Power: 105 W in standard mode and 0.5 W in standby
Smart system: Android 14 on an eight-core processor with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage
Wireless: Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, plus a 1000M LAN port for wired networks
Ports: two HDMI inputs, one HDMI output, a USB Type-C port rated 15 W, a USB 3.0 port, and S/PDIF and line outputs
Control: RS232C in and out, for passing control commands from one display to the next

Two 15 W speakers are fitted at the rear, which matters if the screen plays announcements or video with sound.

Where the 55-inch DSX fits across Qatar

A private school in Al Wakrah refreshing its main corridor can use the screen for timetables, event notices and announcements, mounted in portrait or landscape depending on the wall space available.

A café or quick-service outlet in The Pearl or West Bay can mount the panel in portrait to show a tall digital menu, then switch to landscape for promotions on the same wall. The 700 nit output suits counters close to shopfront glass.

A clinic in Al Sadd or a hotel lobby in Msheireb can use it as a waiting-area information screen, showing wayfinding and appointment directions around the clock. Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and content management through Newline Signage Pro, which requires a subscription, let staff update messages from one place.

Planning the mounting, power and environment

The unit uses a 400 x 400 mm VESA pattern, so the wall bracket or stand must match that pattern and carry its weight. The outline measures 1237 x 708 x 70 mm, with a net weight of 13 kg and a packed weight of 18.5 kg, so plan for two people to handle the packed unit. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey, which is worth booking before any wall is drilled.

The operating range is 0°C to 40°C and the storage range is -20°C to 60°C. Summer temperatures in Qatar can rise above 45°C, so install the display in an air-conditioned indoor space and keep it out of direct sunlight through glass. If the location is semi-open, a loading bay or an unconditioned room, confirm the environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.

Standard-mode power draw is 105 W. The package includes UK and EU power cables, so confirm the plug and socket arrangement for your site when you request a quote.

Organisations ordering several units can raise a purchase order (LPO), and SmartRooms Qatar delivers to all eight municipalities of Qatar. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order.

To receive a quote, send SmartRooms Qatar your wall plan, the number of screens and the type of content you intend to run. Quotations are usually issued within one working day, so request a quote for the Newline 55" DSX today.

Questions about 55" DSX

What is the Newline 55" DSX used for?

The 55-inch DSX is a commercial display for digital signage, designed to run continuously. It suits menu boards, wayfinding, promotional loops and information screens in corridors, reception areas and food outlets. In a café in Msheireb it can show the day's menu, and in a clinic in Al Sadd it can direct patients to departments. Its 1210 x 680 mm screen is sized for close to medium viewing distances rather than large halls.

Will the screen stay readable in a sunlit lobby?

The panel is rated at 700 nits, which helps content stay clear in brightly lit foyers, glass-walled atriums and retail frontages. Brightness does not remove glare from direct sunlight passing through glass, so position the screen away from direct sun and check the glazing at your site. The 178° viewing angle keeps the picture readable for people approaching from the side of a hotel lobby, such as one in The Pearl.

Can it be used through a Qatar summer without overheating?

The operating range is 0°C to 40°C, and the storage range is -20°C to 60°C. Summer temperatures in Qatar can rise above 45°C, so the display should sit in an air-conditioned indoor space where the room stays within its operating range. For a location such as a loading bay, a semi-open walkway or an unconditioned room, confirm the environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before you order.

Do I need a subscription to manage content?

Yes. Newline Signage Pro is built into the DSX and lets you design, schedule and manage content from one platform, but the source data lists a subscription as required. The unit runs Android 14 with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. Other listed software includes Cast, Broadcast, Display Management Plus and Cast+, which is available in the App Store. Factor the subscription into your planning from the start.

What connections does it offer for video sources and mirroring?

The rear panel has two HDMI inputs, one HDMI output, a USB Type-C port rated at 15 W, a USB 3.0 port, S/PDIF and line outputs, RS232C in and out, and a 1000M LAN port. The HDMI output lets you mirror content from one DSX to another display, useful for extending a lobby message to a second screen. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 are also built in.

How do I control several displays from a central system?

The DSX has RS232C in and out, so an AV controller or building system can send commands and pass them along to the next display in a chain. The package includes two RS232 cables, one with a 3.5 mm plug at one end and a D-sub connector at the other, and one 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm cable, each listed at 3 m. Confirm the control protocol your system needs with the SmartRooms Qatar team.

What wall bracket and space do I need?

The VESA pattern is 400 x 400 mm, so the bracket or stand must match that pattern and carry the load. The outline is 1237 x 708 x 70 mm, the net weight is 13 kg and the packed weight is 18.5 kg. Before drilling, check the wall structure, ventilation clearance and cable route. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey, which is useful for a corridor in a school in Education City or a clinic in Al Sadd.

Can it show a tall menu or directory in portrait?

Yes. The DSX supports both portrait and landscape orientation. A café in West Bay can mount it in portrait for a tall digital menu, then use landscape layouts for promotional content on the same wall. Portrait mounting affects the bracket orientation and how content is laid out, so plan the content template before installation.

What power does it draw and which cables are supplied?

Standard-mode power draw is 105 W and standby draw is 0.5 W. The package includes a UK power cable and an EU power cable. Ask SmartRooms Qatar to confirm the plug and socket arrangement for your site when you request a quote, so the unit is supplied with the correct cable for the outlets you have.

We are a school ordering several units. How do we order?

Schools and government bodies in Qatar can order multiple 55-inch DSX units on a purchase order (LPO). A school in Al Rayyan fitting out several corridors can receive one quotation covering every screen, with delivery to all eight municipalities of Qatar. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Send the number of screens and the mounting locations when you request a quote.

How does it compare with the 65-inch DSX?

The 55-inch model has a 1210 x 680 mm display area, 105 W standard power draw, 13 kg net weight and a 400 x 400 mm VESA pattern. The 65-inch model is larger, with a 1428 x 804 mm display area and 155 W standard power draw, but it needs more wall space. Choose the 55-inch for narrower corridors and counters, and the 65-inch for longer viewing distances. You can request a quote for either model.
