A 98-inch 4K panel built for long hours and large rooms

The Panasonic TH-98SQE2 is the largest model in the SQE2 series of professional displays. Its 98-inch class panel uses 3840 x 2160 resolution, which gives roughly four times the pixels of Full HD, so slides, spreadsheets and floor plans stay sharp when viewed up close. A 500 cd/m² typical brightness and an anti-glare surface with 25% haze reduce reflections from ceiling lights and windows, while the 178-degree viewing angles keep the picture usable for people seated at the sides of a long table.

Where the TH-98SQE2 fits in Qatar

Executive boardroom. A corporate office or government authority in West Bay running Arabic and English presentations side by side can connect laptops through HDMI or USB-C, and share a screen wirelessly when a Wi-Fi dongle is fitted. The large panel suits a long table with video conferencing links to teams abroad.

Lecture hall or training room. An education facility in Education City or a training centre in Al Sadd can use the Intel SDM slot to add a built-in PC, and the SPDIF output lets the room's own sound system take over from the internal 24 W speaker.

Hotel lobby or shopping mall. A hotel in Msheireb or a mall in Lusail can run wayfinding and promotions around the clock. The USB media player plays content from a drive, the Android OS accepts apk files over USB or network, and free Content Management Software for PC schedules playlists.

What to plan before you order

At 99.8 kg, the panel needs a wall or structure that has been checked for load. The rear mounting pattern is 800 x 400 mm with M8 fixings, and the display tilts 0 to 20 degrees, which matters if it is mounted above eye level. Its operating range is 0 to 40 °C at up to 1,400 m altitude, so it should sit in an air-conditioned room, because Qatar summers can exceed 45 °C. If the space is semi-open or exposed to sunlight, confirm the conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team before you commit. A free site survey covers the wall, cable routes and room lighting.

Questions about TH-98SQE2

Who is the TH-98SQE2 designed for in Qatar?

The TH-98SQE2 suits organisations that need a very large screen for many viewers, such as a boardroom in West Bay, a lecture hall in Education City or a hotel lobby in Msheireb. Its 98-inch class panel uses 3840 x 2160 resolution, so detailed content stays sharp from several metres away. Rooms with smaller audiences should compare the 86-inch or 75-inch models in the same series.

Is the screen readable in a room with windows or strong lighting?

Yes, within limits. The panel has a 500 cd/m² typical brightness and an anti-glare surface with 25% haze, which reduces reflections from ceiling lights and windows. In a glass-fronted atrium in Lusail with direct sunlight, we recommend blinds or screening, and our team can review the layout during a free site survey.

Can the display run all day in a control room or busy lobby?

It is rated for 24 hours a day operation, so it suits control rooms and busy public areas. Panasonic advises showing moving content for long periods, because still images left on screen for extended times can cause image retention. That retention can fade when moving images are displayed, so plan playlists with video or changing slides.

What connections does it offer for laptops and conferencing systems?

It provides four HDMI IN ports, one HDMI OUT, one DisplayPort IN and a USB-C input rated 15 W that supports DisplayPort Alternate mode. Three USB-A ports and a microSD slot handle media and peripherals. The HDMI and DisplayPort inputs are HDCP 2.2 compatible, which matters for protected content from licensed sources.

Does it work with Qatar's 240 V mains supply?

The power supply is rated AC 110-240 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz, so it accepts the 240 V supply used in Qatar. Power draw is 450 W in shipping condition and 410 W in Natural picture mode, with about 0.5 W in standby. Our team will confirm the plug and cable type in the quotation before the unit is delivered.

How heavy is it, and what wall preparation is needed?

The display weighs 99.8 kg and measures 2216 x 1271 x 99 mm, so the wall or support structure must be checked for load. The rear mounting pattern is 800 x 400 mm with M8 fixings. A free site survey lets our engineers confirm the wall, fixing points and cable routes before the panel is ordered.

Can it be mounted in portrait orientation or tilted?

Yes. It supports landscape and portrait orientation and tilts 0 to 20 degrees forward and backward in either orientation. Portrait mode suits corridor signage or wayfinding in a hospital or mall, while a slight forward tilt helps when the screen is mounted above eye level in a hall.

What environment does it need during a Qatar summer?

Panasonic rates it for 0 to 40 °C ambient temperature and 20 to 80% humidity, non-condensing, up to 1,400 m altitude. Qatar summers can exceed 45 °C, so install it only in air-conditioned rooms where the air around the screen stays within this range. For semi-open or very hot spaces, confirm conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team first.

How is the display controlled across a network?

It has an RJ45 LAN port compatible with PJLink, supporting 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX, plus an RS-232C serial input and an IR input. It also supports Crestron Connected and Crestron XiO Cloud, with main software V7.218.4.0 or later. An IT team can use these options to switch inputs and manage several displays centrally.

Can it play digital signage without a PC?

Yes. Video and still images saved on a USB drive play automatically through the USB media player. The built-in Android OS lets you install an apk file by USB or over the network, so the display can run signage without a set-top box or PC. Google Play Store is not supported, and Content Management Software for PC, which is free, handles scheduling.

Does it have speakers and audio outputs for a large hall?

It has a built-in 24 W speaker, suitable for smaller meeting rooms. For lecture halls or auditoriums, it also provides a stereo mini jack audio output and an SPDIF output, so an external sound system can be connected. Our team can confirm the cabling and sound requirements for your room during the survey.

Can we add a built-in PC for a university or training centre?

Yes, through the Intel SDM slot standard, which supports 4K signals. Third-party SDM-specified function boards are sold separately, and Panasonic cannot guarantee their operation. The signal sent to the slot must be HDMI. Our team can confirm the board and PC requirements in the quotation before you purchase.
