What the Philips 50BFL2214/12 is built for

The Philips 50BFL2214/12 is a 50-inch (126 cm diagonal) 4K Ultra HD LED display from the Signage 2000 Series. It is built for corporate and public-facing screens rather than home entertainment. The 3840 x 2160 panel keeps text and graphics sharp at reading distance, and the landscape orientation suits reception walls, boardrooms, training rooms and corridor directories where information must stay legible all day.

Playback, connectivity and wireless sharing

The display runs Android TV 9 (Pie) with 16 GB of flash storage. Chromecast built in lets presenters share content wirelessly from Windows, Apple and Android devices, which removes cables from meeting tables. For wired sources there are three HDMI 2.0 ports with HDCP 2.2, one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port, an RJ-45 Ethernet port and an RJ-48 interface. Wireless LAN supports 802.11 ac and Wi-Fi Direct. Video playback covers H.264, HEVC and VP9 in AVI and MKV containers, and HEVC can run up to 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz from USB or LAN.

Corporate management and control

The management features matter most to IT and facilities teams. Signage functions include a scheduler, banners and a CMND&Create tool. Screens can carry a custom home screen, location name and device name, so a group of displays across several floors can be identified easily. Auto input selection, auto power on and auto power off support unattended operation, and control compatibility is listed for Crestron Connected (v2), Extron, Neets and SICP over IP. Installation menu lock, menu lock and volume limitation help keep settings fixed in public areas. Eco mode, an auto switch-off timer and a light sensor are included for power saving.

Where it fits in Qatar

• Hotel or serviced apartment lobby in West Bay: a 16/7 landscape screen showing arrivals, amenities and a local weather forecast, managed from the front desk and updated from a central schedule.
• Private school in Al Wakrah fitting out new classrooms: one 50-inch display per teaching room or corridor, connected by Ethernet and run from the same schedule, with the installation menu locked so teachers cannot change core settings.
• Government office reception in Msheireb: a wall display with a location name set for each floor, showing visitor information and service updates that staff change from one schedule.

Climate matters in Qatar. The listed ambient operating range is 0 °C to 40 °C, and outdoor summer temperatures in Qatar are well above that. Install the display only in an air-conditioned indoor space, away from direct sunlight and glazing, and confirm the exact location with the SmartRooms Qatar team before mounting.

What to plan before installation

The set measures 1112 x 647 mm with a depth of 78 to 85 mm and weighs 11.3 kg. The wall-mount pattern is 100 x 200 mm with M6 fixings. Plan the socket position to suit the supplied power cord and a mains supply of 220 to 240 V at 50 to 60 Hz, and route HDMI and Ethernet cables before the screen goes up. The box includes remote control 22AV1905A/12, two AAA batteries, a power cord and an RJ48 to DB9 adapter. A separate setup remote, 22AV9574A/12, is available as an option. The EU energy label lists 65 W with energy class F, and standby consumption is below 0.3 W.
