What the Philips 98BDL3650Q is

The Philips 98BDL3650Q is a 98-inch Q-Line signage display from the Signage 3000 Series, with a 97.5-inch diagonal screen and a 3840 x 2160 IPS panel. It pairs the screen with an internal Android 10 player, so simple playlists can run without a separate computer. Organisations that want one large, sharp screen for information, wayfinding or promotions will find it a straightforward option.

Picture and processing facts that matter

The panel reports a typical contrast ratio of 1200:1, a dynamic contrast ratio of 500,000:1 and a brightness of 400 cd/m². Typical response time is 8 ms, and the 178-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles keep text legible for people standing at the side of a corridor or across a lobby. Picture enhancement includes progressive scan and dynamic contrast enhancement.

Inside, a quad-core Cortex A55 processor works with 16 GB of storage and 3 GB of DDR memory. The player handles MP4, H.264, H.265 and AVI video, plus JPEG and PNG images, from USB.

Connectivity and control for facilities teams

Video inputs are two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DVI-I, two USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 port, with a 3.5 mm audio input and output, a micro SD slot and an OPS slot. For management, RJ45 network control, RS232C and IR all support loop-through, so several units can be chained from a single control point. Keyboard controls can be hidden and locked, and the remote control signal can be locked, which suits public areas.

Where it fits in Qatar

Government service halls in West Bay: a queue and information display where the on-screen menu can be set to Arabic, with content shown on a large, readable panel.
Hotel and serviced apartment lobbies in The Pearl or Msheireb: a main-wall screen for arrivals and events, run from USB or the internal player.
Schools and universities in Education City or Al Rayyan: a foyer or assembly hall display for announcements, with the 3 x 3 tiled option available for a wider wall later.

What to plan before installation

At 65.2 kg and 2193.4 mm wide, this model needs a solid wall or support structure and a planned mounting point. The wall mount pattern is 1000 mm by 400 mm with M8 fixings, and the set is 90 mm deep. Typical power draw is 204 W, standby is under 0.5 W, and the mains range is 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz. The operating range is 0 to 40 °C, so keep the display in an air-conditioned room, away from direct sun through glass. If you plan a video wall, the bezels are 15.9 mm on three sides and 20.1 mm at the bottom. The manufacturer lists a Smart Insert feature for easier installation.

Questions about 98BDL3650Q/00

What is the Philips 98BDL3650Q designed for?

It is a 97.5-inch diagonal 4K Ultra HD digital signage display for places that need one large, sharp screen for information, wayfinding or promotional content. Typical locations include corporate lobbies, hospital waiting areas, hotel foyers and school halls in Doha and beyond. Its 3840 x 2160 IPS panel and 178-degree viewing angles keep content readable from across a wide space.

Can it be installed near windows or outdoors in Qatar?

The operating temperature range is 0 to 40 °C, with 20 to 80 percent relative humidity without condensation, and an altitude up to 3000 m. Outside temperatures in Qatar often exceed 45 °C in summer, so the display should sit in an air-conditioned indoor space, away from direct sunlight through glass. The specifications do not cover outdoor use, so confirm the exact location with the SmartRooms Qatar team before approving a quotation.

How heavy is it and what does the wall need?

The set weighs 65.2 kg and measures 2193.4 mm wide by 1255.3 mm high, with a depth of 90 mm. The wall mount pattern is 1000 mm by 400 mm using M8 fixings. Because of the weight, the wall or support structure should be checked during a site survey before installation, and the mounting plan should be agreed in writing. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys.

Does the on-screen menu support Arabic?

Yes. The on-screen display languages include Arabic alongside English, French, Spanish, Turkish and others. This suits government service desks and Qatari organisations that work in Arabic and English side by side, because staff can set the menus in the language they prefer. Content on the screen is created separately, so plan Arabic and English messaging with your content team.

What connections does it offer for a media player or laptop?

It has two HDMI 2.0 inputs, one DVI-I, two USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 port, plus a 3.5 mm audio input and output and a micro SD slot. An OPS slot accepts a compatible computing module if you prefer a plug-in player. Use HDMI for a laptop or media box, and the USB ports for playing media files directly from a drive.

Can it play content without a separate PC?

Yes. The internal player runs Android 10 with a quad-core Cortex A55 processor, 16 GB of storage and 3 GB of DDR memory. It plays MP4, H.264, H.265, AVI and MPEG video, along with JPEG and PNG images from USB. A hotel lobby or hospital waiting area can run a playlist from a USB drive without a computer, although complex scheduling across many screens may need a network-based content management system.

How can facilities teams control several displays remotely?

The display supports network control over RJ45, and it accepts RS232C and IR control through its 2.5 mm and 3.5 mm jacks. RS232 and IR loop-through let you chain several units from one control source. Keyboard controls can be hidden and locked, and the remote control signal can be locked, so public installations stay under the control of your team.

Can I build a video wall with this model?

It supports a tiled matrix of up to 3 x 3 units, with bezels of 15.9 mm on the left, right and top and 20.1 mm at the bottom. Its pixel pitch is 0.56 x 0.56 mm. For a shopping mall atrium or an airport corridor, plan the wall grid, a suitable video wall controller and the structural load before ordering nine units. Request a quote so the configuration can be reviewed.

Will it work with Qatar's mains power?

The mains input is rated at 100 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz, which covers the 240 V, 50 Hz supply used across Qatar. Typical consumption is 204 W, standby power is below 0.5 W, and the energy label class is G. Ask your installer to confirm the included AC power cord suits your socket before the unit is delivered.

What warranty comes with it?

The manufacturer provides a 3-year warranty on this model, and SmartRooms Qatar supplies it covered by that manufacturer warranty. Ask the quotation team for the warranty details that apply to your order. Keep the purchase order and serial number records in your asset register so warranty claims can be handled quickly.

Can a school or government office order several units through an LPO?

Yes. Schools, ministries and other public bodies can request one quotation for multiple units and raise a purchase order (LPO). Government tenders, including those on Monaqasat, are supported, and payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. For example, an international school in Lusail fitting out several corridors would need matching units and one installation plan.

Is it suitable for unattended public spaces?

It can be, provided access is controlled. The keyboard controls can be hidden and locked, and the remote control signal can be locked, which helps in a hospital waiting area, university atrium or hotel foyer where the public should not change settings. Combine these locks with RJ45 network control so administrators can update content centrally.
