QB85R-B

A 4K display for rooms that run all day

The Samsung QB85R-B is an 85-inch signage display with a 3,840 x 2,160 resolution, four times the pixel count of a Full HD screen. Its VA panel is rated at 350 nit typical brightness and a 4,000:1 contrast ratio, which keeps text and photography legible in lobbies, corridors and meeting areas. It is designed for content that stays on screen for long hours rather than for occasional presentations.

The specifications that matter for purchasing

• Picture: 92% DCI-P3 colour gamut, 6 ms response time and a 2% glass haze finish on a non-glossy frame.
• Inputs: two HDMI inputs (version 2) with HDCP 2.2, one DVI input, two USB ports and an audio input.
• Control and network: RS232 in and out, IR input, an RJ45 port and built-in Wi-Fi.
• Power: AC 100-240 V at 50/60 Hz, drawing 198 W in on mode and 0.5 W in sleep mode.
• Size and weight: 1,897.8 x 1,080.8 x 56.7 mm, 48.4 kg, or 63.7 kg in packaging.

The display has no DisplayPort input, so plan HDMI or DVI cabling from your media player or PC. The software side runs on Tizen 4.0 with 8GB of flash memory. Samsung Workspace, secured by Knox, lets a presenter reach a PC over a wireless cloud connection without a physical cable, which suits boardrooms where the person presenting changes often.

Where it fits in Qatar

A hotel in West Bay might place one in its arrival lobby to show event schedules and wayfinding, where its brightness suits a room with indirect daylight. A Msheireb retail unit could use it as a promotional screen facing the street, although the 350 nit rating means a site check is wise if sunlight falls directly on the glass. In a university building in Education City, the display can run timetables and announcements along a corridor, with its RS232 and RJ45 ports available for control from a central system.

What to plan before installation

• Weight: the panel weighs 48.4 kg, so confirm wall or stand capacity during a free site survey.
• Mounting: the rear uses a 600 x 400 mm VESA pattern, and Samsung lists the WMN8200SG as an optional mount for this model.
• Bezel: 10.9 mm on the top, left and right and 12.9 mm at the bottom, which matters if you build a multi-panel wall.
• Environment: rated for 0 to 40 °C and 10 to 80% humidity, non-condensing. Qatar's outdoor temperatures often exceed 45 °C, so install it in an air-conditioned indoor space and confirm the room conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team.

For a school, ministry or hospital buying several units, ask for one quotation covering all panels, mounts and installation. Purchase orders (LPOs), government tenders including Monaqasat, and payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order are all accepted, and units are delivered to all 8 municipalities of Qatar.
