Overview

The Samsung QE98C is a 98-inch 4K UHD signage display built for lobbies, showrooms, boardrooms and corridors where a large, uniform picture must run for long hours. It combines a 3,840 x 2,160 VA panel rated at 450 nit typical brightness and 5,000:1 contrast with four HDMI inputs, RS232, RJ45, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Its 16/7 operation support suits busy offices, malls and hotels across Doha and beyond.

A 98-inch 4K display for large rooms and public spaces

The Samsung QE98C is a 98-inch UHD signage display with a 3,840 x 2,160 resolution, the standard 4K grid that keeps text sharp at a few metres. At this size it can anchor a lobby, a trading floor, a conference hall or a retail entrance, replacing several smaller screens with one clear focal point.

The panel is a VA type with 450 nit typical brightness, a 5,000:1 contrast ratio and 178/178 degree viewing angles. An 8 ms response time and a DCI 93% typical colour gamut suit moving video and branded content alike. The 2% glass haze figure describes how much the front glass diffuses light, which matters where windows or ceiling lights reflect off the surface.

Connectivity, control and built-in software

Four HDMI inputs (HDMI version 2, HDCP 2.2) for media players, PCs and other sources
Two USB ports for content playback or service tools
RS232 and RJ45 for external control and network connection
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in, running Tizen 6.5

There is no DisplayPort input and no audio input on this model, so plan around HDMI-based sources and confirm audio requirements before ordering. The unit provides 8GB of flash memory. Operation time support is rated 16/7, which fits venues that run content through long opening hours.

Where the QE98C fits in Qatar

A hotel in West Bay can use the display in its main lobby to show arrival information, event schedules and property promotions, updated from the front desk over the network. A ministry or authority in Doha can place it in a public reception hall to show service guides and queue information. A university lecture room in Education City or a training centre in Lusail can use it so that rows at the back read slides and video clearly.

Planning the installation

The set measures 2180.6 x 1243.9 x 48.4 mm and weighs 56.3 kg, with a packed weight of 87.8 kg, so lifting and handling need a plan. The VESA pattern is 600 x 400 mm. The stand is included in the box, while the wall mount is sold separately. Power is rated AC 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz supply, with 275 W consumption in on mode, 0.5 W in sleep mode and an energy efficiency class of A+.

Operating temperature is 0 to 40 °C, so install the panel in an air-conditioned indoor space rather than an outdoor or poorly cooled area, where Qatar summer temperatures can exceed 45 °C. A free site survey before wall-mounting helps confirm wall structure, mounting height and cable routing.

Send the room size, mounting wall, number of units and any purchase order reference to the SmartRooms Qatar team and request a quote. Quotations usually arrive within one working day, and the product is covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Questions about QE98C

What is the Samsung QE98C designed for?

It is a 98-inch UHD signage display for indoor spaces where one large screen must show information to many people at once. Typical settings include hotel lobbies, bank halls, shopping malls and government reception areas. With a 3,840 x 2,160 resolution and 16/7 operation time support, it suits busy venues that keep content running through long working days.

Can the QE98C be installed outdoors or in a very hot room in Qatar?

No. The operating temperature range is 0 °C to 40 °C, with humidity from 10 to 80 percent non-condensing. Summer outdoor temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45 °C, so outdoor, sun-facing or poorly cooled areas fall outside the rated range. Install it in an air-conditioned indoor space, and confirm the room conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.

Which inputs and network ports does it have?

The display has four HDMI inputs (HDMI version 2 with HDCP 2.2), two USB ports, an RS232 input and an RJ45 network port. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also built in, and Tizen 6.5 is the operating system. The source data lists no DisplayPort input, no audio input and no IR input, so plan media players and control systems around HDMI, RS232 and the network.

Does it have built-in speakers or an audio input?

The manufacturer data lists no audio input and does not mention built-in speaker output. Because lobbies and lecture halls often need sound, confirm your audio requirements with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering. Audio can be supplied from the connected source, such as a media player or a PA system, so plan that chain before the purchase order is raised.

How heavy is the panel and what wall does it need?

The set weighs 56.3 kg and its packed weight is 87.8 kg, so a two-person lift and a clear handling plan are needed. The VESA mounting pattern is 600 x 400 mm, and the wall mount is sold separately. A free site survey before mounting lets the SmartRooms Qatar team check wall structure, mounting height and cable routing before any drilling begins.

How deep is the cabinet, and can it sit close to the wall?

The set measures 2180.6 x 1243.9 x 48.4 mm, so its depth is 48.4 mm, which gives the slim profile of the design. The final flush appearance depends on the wall mount you choose and how cables are routed behind the panel. Mark the planned position and cable path during the survey so the bracket and cables are fixed before the panel is hung.

What would a hotel in West Bay use this display for?

A hotel in West Bay could place the QE98C in its main lobby to show arrival information, event schedules and property promotions. With 16/7 operation time support it can run through the day, and HDMI inputs let staff connect a media player that is updated from the front desk. Position the screen away from direct sun through glass so guests see the 450 nit picture clearly.

How could a government office in Doha use it?

A ministry or authority in Doha could mount the QE98C in a public reception hall to show service guides, queue information and announcements. The RJ45 port and Wi-Fi let the content team manage it over the office network, while RS232 allows control from a building management system if one is in place. A site survey before installation helps fix the best position for visitor flow.

Is it suitable for a lecture hall or training room in Education City or Lusail?

Yes, for rooms where back rows must read slides and video clearly. The 98-inch screen with a 3,840 x 2,160 resolution gives a large, detailed image, and the 178-degree viewing angles help students seated at the sides. Plan the room lighting and viewing distance first, and confirm that the air-conditioned room stays within the 0 °C to 40 °C operating range.

Will it run on Qatar's electrical supply?

The power supply is rated AC 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz, and that range includes Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains. The set uses 275 W in on mode and 0.5 W in sleep mode, with an energy efficiency class of A+. The source data does not describe the plug type, so confirm the socket arrangement with the SmartRooms Qatar team before the installation day.

Can a government body or school order it through an LPO or tender?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including Monaqasat, and accepts payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. The QE98C is sold by quotation, so send the model name, quantity, mounting location and procurement reference to receive a quote, usually within one working day. Products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
