What the Sharp PN-M862 is built to do
The Sharp PN-M862 is an 86-inch Message display from the MultiSync M Series, sized for lobbies, boardrooms and corridors where a large screen must run through the working day. Its 3840 x 2160 IPS panel with Direct LED backlight shows UHD 4K content at 550 cd/m², and the unit is rated for 24/7 operation.
Brightness, glare and colour for busy spaces
The panel uses a high-haze finish rated Pro at 25%, which scatters light from windows and ceiling fittings so that signage and presentations stay readable in bright rooms. Contrast is rated at least 8000:1, viewing angles are 178 degrees horizontal and vertical, and the panel supports 10-bit colour depth with 72% of the NTSC gamut.
Factory calibration covers gamma, intensity, RGB, uniformity and white point. The Display Wall Calibrator software adds corner uniformity and white point adjustment, which helps when brand colours must match across several screens.
Connectivity for meeting rooms and signage networks
- USB-C 1: UHD video input with DisplayPort alternate mode, USB data and up to 65 W of power for a laptop, all over one cable.
- HDMI and DisplayPort: two HDMI inputs, an HDMI output, DP IN 1 and a DP OUT loop, all at UHD 60 Hz with HDCP 2.2.
- Network: LAN 1 and LAN 2 at 100 Mbit/s, 802.1X support over LAN, and external control through SNMP, PJLink and an HTTP browser.
- Control: RS-232C at 9600 bps, IR input, HDMI CEC and HDMI ARC.
Where it fits in Qatar
A corporate reception in West Bay or Lusail can run wayfinding and brand content from opening to closing, with the unit scheduled through its built-in scheduler. A boardroom in Msheireb or Al Sadd that connects to teams abroad benefits from the USB-C laptop connection and listed compatibility with Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex and Crestron rooms. In Education City or an Al Rayyan training centre, the 86-inch size suits a larger lecture hall where students at the back still need to read slides.
What to plan before installation
- Dimensions are 1,927.6 x 1,099.1 x 83.2 mm and the unit weighs 47 kg, so confirm the wall structure during a site survey.
- The VESA pattern is 600 x 400 mm with M8 holes. Wall mount options include L20PNWALL90EU and SF680P, and a trolley (L20PNSR780MEU) is also listed.
- Operating temperature is 0 to +40 °C and humidity 20 to 80%, so install it in an air-conditioned indoor space with clear ventilation.
- The 100-240 V AC internal supply covers Qatar's 240 V mains. Typical power consumption is 190 W.
- Optional accessories include the Eco Sensor (KTES1) for human presence detection and a speaker (SP-RM3a).

Questions about PN-M862
What is the Sharp PN-M862 designed for?
The PN-M862 is an 86-inch 4K display for digital signage and meeting rooms that run for long hours. It is rated for 24/7 operation and 550 cd/m² brightness, so it suits corporate reception areas, boardrooms and public information screens in Doha. Its 3-year warranty includes the backlight. SmartRooms Qatar can quote the unit with a wall mount or trolley option.
Will the screen stay readable near windows in a bright Doha office?
The panel has a high-haze finish rated Pro at 25%, which reduces reflections from windows and ceiling lights, and it is rated at 550 cd/m². This helps in West Bay offices and lobbies with glass frontage, where sun glare can wash out a standard screen. Shading and viewing position still matter, so a free site survey from SmartRooms Qatar can check placement before you order.
What resolution does the PN-M862 support?
The native resolution is 3840 x 2160 (UHD 4K) at a 16:9 aspect ratio, with a panel refresh rate of 60 Hz. HDMI IN 1, HDMI IN 2 and DP IN 1 accept UHD at 60 Hz with HDCP 2.2. The supported list also includes lower resolutions such as 1920 x 1080 and 1280 x 720, which helps with older sources and legacy presentation laptops.
Can I connect a laptop with just one cable?
Yes. USB-C 1 accepts UHD video at 60 Hz using DisplayPort alternate mode, carries USB 2.0 or 3.2 data, and provides up to 65 W of power to the laptop. This suits meeting rooms where staff bring their own devices. The laptop's USB-C port must support DisplayPort alternate mode, so confirm your device model before ordering.
Is the PN-M862 compatible with Microsoft Teams, Webex and Crestron?
The manufacturer lists compatibility with Crestron, Cisco Webex, Q-Sys and Microsoft Teams. Its certifications include Crestron CCV2 and XiO Cloud, Cisco verification for collaboration devices, and a Q-Sys plug-in. Before ordering, confirm your exact room system and software version with SmartRooms Qatar so the installation matches your meeting platform.
How does the display connect to a corporate network?
LAN 1 and LAN 2 both run at 100 Mbit/s, and LAN 2 loops through to LAN 1 for daisy-chaining. The unit supports 802.1X over LAN for enterprise authentication. Remote management uses NaViSet Administrator 2, and external control includes SNMP, PJLink and an HTTP browser. IT teams in ministries, banks and hospitals can manage the screens under their own network policy.
Can it be installed in a hot area or outdoors in Qatar?
No. The operating temperature range is 0 to +40 °C with humidity from 20 to 80%, and Qatar summers regularly exceed 45 °C. Install it only in air-conditioned indoor spaces with clear ventilation around the cabinet. Ingress protection is IP5x at the front and IP2x at the back, so it is not rated for dusty, outdoor or semi-enclosed locations.
What wall space and mounting details do I need?
The display measures 1,927.6 x 1,099.1 x 83.2 mm and weighs 47 kg. The VESA pattern is 600 x 400 mm with M8 holes, and the wall mount options L20PNWALL90EU and SF680P are listed. The packaged unit weighs 64 kg, so plan for two installers and confirm the wall structure during a site survey before mounting.
Can I mount it in portrait orientation for a corridor or mall screen?
Yes. The supported orientations are landscape, portrait and face-up. Portrait mounting suits tall wayfinding or directory content in a mall corridor in Msheireb or Al Rayyan. Check that the bracket you choose supports portrait use and that the wall can carry 47 kg. SmartRooms Qatar can confirm the bracket and mounting layout with your quotation.
Does it have sensors that adjust the display or save power?
It has an integrated ambient light sensor and three temperature sensors, with programmable triggered actions. A built-in scheduler can switch the display on and off. Standby consumption is below 0.5 W, or below 2 W in networked standby. The optional Eco Sensor (KTES1) adds human presence detection, which suits school corridors and offices where screens should run only when people are present.
Can I manage several units for a school or government office?
Yes. Clone Settings allows one configuration to be copied across units, and NaViSet Administrator 2 supports remote management. Schools and government offices can order several units on one purchase order or LPO, and tender submissions are supported. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Ask for the quantity pricing in a single quotation.
What does the warranty cover and can it be extended?
The source data states a 3-year warranty that includes the backlight. Optional 4th and 5th year warranty extensions are available from the manufacturer, and additional services are also offered. SmartRooms Qatar can include the extension in your quotation so that the coverage period is agreed before purchase.
