Overview

The Sony FW-85BZ30P is an 85-inch 4K HDR professional display for digital signage, corporate lobbies and retail floors. It delivers 400 nit brightness and a 3840 x 2160 resolution, with a coating that reduces reflections in bright rooms. Built-in Android signage runs without an external set-top box, and the panel is rated for 24/7 operation. Offices and retailers in Doha, Lusail and West Bay can request a quote.

What the FW-85BZ30P is built to do

The FW-85BZ30P is an 85-inch professional display from Sony's Pro BRAVIA BZ30P series, built to run for long hours in offices, schools, shops and public areas. Its 3840 x 2160 panel supports HDR10 and HLG, so high dynamic range content displays as intended. The key question for most buyers is whether the picture holds up in the room where it will hang, and the figures below address that.

Picture quality in brightly lit rooms

The screen is rated at 400 nit with a 4500:1 contrast ratio and a 300,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. A VA panel with direct LED backlight and frame dimming delivers 92% DCI-P3 colour coverage. The Deep Black Non-Glare Standard coating, rated at 25% haze, cuts reflections from windows and ceiling lights. The XR Processor upscales lower-resolution content towards near-4K, and the 178-degree viewing angle keeps the picture readable from the sides of a room.

Panel: 85-inch VA with direct LED backlight
Response time: 8 ms typical, grey to grey
HDR: HDR10 and HLG

Installation, weight and wall planning

At about 41.5 kg without a stand and roughly 191.0 x 109.1 x 7.3 cm, this is a heavy panel that needs a suitably rated wall bracket, a structurally sound wall and at least two people to lift. The 400 x 400 mm VESA pattern supports horizontal or vertical mounting, and integral carry handles aid handling. We recommend a free site survey before wall-mounting. The product carries no dust-resistance rating (IP rating listed as No), so discuss any lobby or outdoor-facing location with the SmartRooms Qatar team before fitting.

Connectivity and signage without a set-top box

Four side HDMI inputs, two USB ports and one Ethernet port connect your sources, with HDCP 2.3 on HDMI 1 to 4. Android and HTML5 software run on an internal platform, so many signage playlists need no external set-top box. There is 32GB of onboard storage, integrated Wi-Fi and Apple AirPlay for mirroring from handheld Apple devices. A Real-Time Clock keeps schedules running when the display is off, and IP control, RS-232C and HDMI-CEC support integration with control systems.

Where the FW-85BZ30P fits in Qatar

Three situations suit a panel of this size:

A corporate reception in West Bay or Lusail showing wayfinding, visitor information and sponsor content throughout the working day.
A retail store in Msheireb or a mall in Al Sadd running promotions on a single large screen at the entrance, where 400 nit brightness helps the picture hold up near glass fronts.
A training centre or lecture room in Education City, where a wall-mounted screen shows course material and campus announcements to a larger group.

Rated power consumption is 255 W and standby draw is 0.5 W, and Sony states that power use is up to 31% lower than previous models. The EPREL on-mode figure is 127 kWh per 1,000 hours. The data we hold does not include an operating temperature range, so confirm the installation environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before fitting, especially in areas without air conditioning.

To plan the right mounting, cabling and power for your site, request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar. We supply and deliver to all eight municipalities of Qatar, offer professional installation and free site surveys, and usually send quotations within one working day. Purchase orders and government tenders are welcome.

Questions about FW-85BZ30P

What is the Sony FW-85BZ30P best suited for?

The FW-85BZ30P suits digital signage, corporate reception areas, retail entrances and larger meeting or training rooms where an 85-inch screen is needed. Its 24/7 operation rating, 400 nit brightness and Android-based signage platform make it a good fit for visitor information, wayfinding and promotional content. A school or office in Doha can begin with one unit and add more later for a multi-screen layout.

Do I need a media player to run signage on this display?

No external set-top box is required for smart signage on this model. Android and HTML5 applications run on its internal SoC platform, so signage playlists can run on the panel itself. The Real-Time Clock keeps content schedules running even when the display is switched off. For a hotel lobby in Doha or a clinic waiting area, this means fewer devices to install, power and cable.

Will the screen stay readable in a bright lobby with large windows?

The panel is rated at 400 nit and has a Deep Black Non-Glare Standard coating with 25% haze, which reduces reflections from windows and ceiling lights. That suits a glass-fronted lobby in West Bay or a showroom beside a mall atrium. Direct sunlight on the screen still reduces contrast, so the site survey should check the angle of the glass and the times of day when the screen will be most used.

Can I install it outdoors or in areas exposed to dust storms?

No outdoor installation is supported by the data we hold. The FW-85BZ30P is not rated dust resistant (IP rating: No), and the source data gives no operating temperature range. Do not fit it in outdoor canopies, car parks or open terraces without written confirmation. Share the exact location with SmartRooms Qatar before requesting a quote so the environment can be reviewed.

How heavy is the panel, and what does the wall need to take?

The panel weighs approximately 41.5 kg without a stand and measures about 191.0 x 109.1 x 7.3 cm. Use a wall bracket rated for that load, fitted into a structurally sound wall, and plan for at least two people to lift it. The 400 x 400 mm VESA pattern is the mounting reference. A free site survey from SmartRooms Qatar checks fixing points and cable routes before delivery.

Can it be mounted in portrait orientation?

Yes. The FW-85BZ30P is listed as compatible with portrait and tilt orientations, so it can be used for vertical totem-style signage in a corridor, lift lobby or retail aisle. Confirm that the chosen bracket supports portrait mounting and that the cabling leaves enough slack for rotation. Its narrow, evenly sized bezels and centrally placed VESA holes help it look balanced in either orientation.

What inputs and connections does the FW-85BZ30P have?

Four HDMI inputs, two USB ports and one Ethernet port sit on the side of the panel. HDMI 1 to 4 support HDCP 2.3. Over HDMI the display accepts 4096 x 2160 at 24, 50 and 60 Hz, and 3840 x 2160 at 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 Hz. USB playback supports formats including MP4, MKV, JPEG and MP3. Plan cable routes so the side ports remain accessible for maintenance.

Can the display be controlled by a building management or AV control system?

Yes. The FW-85BZ30P supports IP control and RS-232C, and it supports HDMI-CEC for devices connected over HDMI. A facilities or AV team can use these to switch power and inputs from a central system. Support for remote management applications varies by sales region, so confirm which software options apply in Qatar when you request a quote.

Can staff share content wirelessly from their phones or laptops?

Wireless mirroring is supported through Apple AirPlay, so iPhone and iPad content can be shown on the screen over the integrated Wi-Fi. The data does not list other wireless mirroring protocols, so if your team mainly uses Windows or Android devices, confirm the connection method with SmartRooms Qatar before buying. In meeting rooms, a laptop connected over HDMI also wakes the display automatically.

How much energy does it use compared with older displays?

Rated power consumption is 255 W, standby draw is 0.5 W, and the EPREL on-mode figure is 127 kWh per 1,000 hours. Sony states that power use is up to 31% lower than previous models. A power saving mode and dynamic backlight control further reduce energy in long-running signage, which matters for schools and hospitals that run screens around the clock.

Which Qatar settings suit an 85-inch panel rather than a smaller screen?

An 85-inch panel suits a large reception wall, a boardroom or training room in The Pearl or Education City where people sit at a distance, and a retail entrance where content must be read from across an atrium. For a small office or a desk-side setting, a smaller model may be easier to place. Check viewing distances during the site survey before deciding on the size.

How do I order this display from SmartRooms Qatar?
