Overview

The Sony FW-98BZ30L is a 98-inch 4K HDR display from the Pro BRAVIA BZ30L series, built for lobbies, boardrooms, retail floors and corporate signage. It pairs a 3840 x 2160 panel with 440 cd/m² brightness, the Cognitive Processor XR, 32GB of on-board storage and portrait or tilted mounting. Organisations across Qatar that need a large, always-on screen can request a quote from our team.

What the 98-inch FW-98BZ30L is built for

The Sony FW-98BZ30L is the largest model in the Pro BRAVIA BZ30L range, a 98-inch LCD display with a 3840 x 2160 resolution, a VA panel and a full array LED backlight with local dimming. It suits rooms where one large screen has to carry a message to a wide audience, such as a presentation in a boardroom, a wayfinding map in a mall atrium or a schedule in a hospital waiting area. Operation is rated for 24/7 use, which fits lobbies and signage loops that run all day.

Picture performance and the figures behind it

The panel is rated at 440 cd/m² brightness with a 5000:1 contrast ratio and a dynamic contrast ratio of 700,000:1. It covers 95% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and supports HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision. The Cognitive Processor XR and XR Triluminos Pro handle picture processing, and XR 4K Upscaling lifts lower-resolution sources towards the panel's 4K output. A 6.5 ms grey-to-grey response time and 178-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles keep the picture readable from the sides of a long room.

Resolution: 3840 x 2160, with HDMI signal support up to 4096 x 2160p at 60Hz
Audio: four 10W speakers, two down-firing and side-back arrangements
Motion: XR Motion Clarity for smoother moving images

Installation and mounting details

The FW-98BZ30L can be installed in portrait or landscape orientation, with a tilt range from -15 to +20 degrees. This helps when a corridor or wayfinding column needs a vertical layout. All signal connections sit on the side: four HDMI inputs, two USB ports, one Ethernet port, plus audio and control terminals. The VESA hole pattern is 600 x 400 mm, and the bezel is 20 mm wide. Without stand, the display measures 2199 x 1255 x 85 mm and weighs 67.2 kg. The packed carton measures 2330 x 1394 x 283 mm and weighs 91 kg gross, so plan for two people to lift it and confirm that the wall or stand is rated for the load.

Where it fits in Qatar

In Doha, a corporate lobby in West Bay or Msheireb could use the display for visitor directions and company content, with BRAVIA Signage Free playing HTML, video and photos copied onto a USB stick. An education facility in Education City could place one in a seminar room and use Google Meet from the Google Play Store with a compatible webcam for hybrid sessions. A retail floor in Lusail could rely on Pro Mode to disable input and remote control functions, remove labels and block buttons so visitors cannot change the settings.

What to plan before you order

Check that the wall or bracket supports 67.2 kg and the 600 x 400 mm pattern, and leave room for side connections and cable routing. The manufacturer data does not list an operating temperature range, so confirm the installation environment and ventilation with the SmartRooms Qatar team during a free site survey. Rated power consumption is 328 W, with 0.5 W in standby. If a procurement file asks for EPEAT status, the product is registered at Bronze tier in 23 countries, and registration varies by country.

SmartRooms Qatar supplies the FW-98BZ30L to all eight municipalities of Qatar, with professional installation and a free site survey before wall mounting. Quotations are usually issued within one working day, and we accept purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders. Request a quote and we will confirm availability and the installation plan with you.

Questions about FW-98BZ30L

Who is the Sony FW-98BZ30L designed for?

It suits organisations that need a very large screen in a public or meeting space, such as a corporate lobby in West Bay, a boardroom or a retail floor in a mall. The display is rated for 24/7 operation, offers 178-degree viewing angles and shows a 3840 x 2160 picture, so people at the back of a large room can read the content. Ask for a quote if your room is bigger than a typical meeting space.

How bright is the screen, and will it work in a room with sunlight?

The panel is rated at 440 cd/m² brightness with a 5000:1 contrast ratio. The manufacturer data does not list a non-glare coating, so avoid placing the screen directly opposite windows. Check how sunlight moves through the room during the day before choosing the mounting position, and our team can review the space during a free site survey.

Does it support HDR, and which formats?

Yes. The display supports HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision and covers 95% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The Cognitive Processor XR and XR Triluminos Pro handle picture processing, while XR 4K Upscaling improves lower-resolution sources. This suits media rooms and marketing teams that show video or design work, and it helps brands that want consistent colour across several screens.

Which ports are on the side of the display?

All signal connections sit on the side: four HDMI inputs, two USB ports, one Ethernet port, a digital audio output, an analog audio input and a hybrid input for composite video and S-Center speaker. Control options include RS-232C and IP control, and HDMI-CEC is supported. Side terminals keep connections accessible when the panel is wall mounted, so confirm the cable route with us before ordering.

Can it be mounted in portrait orientation?

Yes. The FW-98BZ30L can be installed in portrait or landscape orientation, with a tilt range from -15 to +20 degrees. Portrait mounting suits corridors, wayfinding columns and digital menus in restaurants. The panel can also be carried in portrait, which helps in lifts and stairwells. Because it weighs 67.2 kg without stand, have a qualified installer check the wall or bracket first.

What are the VESA pattern and weights for wall mounting?

The VESA hole pitch is 600 x 400 mm. The display without stand measures 2199 x 1255 x 85 mm and weighs 67.2 kg, and the gross weight of the package carton is 91 kg. Plan for at least two people and a suitable lifting method. We recommend a free site survey from SmartRooms Qatar before mounting a panel of this size on a wall.

How much storage is there, and what can run without a PC?

The display has 32GB of on-board storage for apps, photos and signage content. The HTML5 platform can show interactive content without a separate media player or PC, and BRAVIA Signage Free plays HTML, video and photos copied onto a USB flash drive. This suits schools and clinics that need looping content without extra playback hardware.

Can it be used for video conferencing?

Google Meet can be installed from the Google Play Store, and the display can be paired with a compatible webcam for video calls on the 98-inch screen. The data does not list a built-in camera or microphone, so you will need to supply a webcam and confirm compatibility before ordering. For a meeting room in Doha that connects to teams abroad, request a quote that includes the camera and set-up.

Can I share content wirelessly from a phone or laptop?

Yes. Apple AirPlay and Google Chromecast are built in, and the display includes Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and an integrated wireless LAN that is Wi-Fi certified. Presenters can share from their own devices without a cable, which suits training rooms and government meetings. Wireless mirroring depends on your network, so have your IT team confirm the set-up before installation.

How do I stop visitors changing settings in a public area?

Pro Mode lets you disable input and remote control functions, remove labels and block buttons. You can also store display settings and copy them to other displays using USB flash memory, which saves time across several units. This is useful in hospital waiting areas or bank lobbies where visitors should not be able to alter the display. Request a quote and we will confirm the set-up with you.

What are the power consumption figures?

Rated power consumption is 328 W, standby power is 0.5 W, and the EPREL on-mode figure is 154 kWh per 1000 hours. Networked standby is listed at 2.00 W over Wi-Fi, Ethernet or HDMI. Power Saving Mode and Dynamic Backlight Control help reduce use further. These figures help schools and ministries estimate running costs before approving a budget.

How do I order the FW-98BZ30L in Qatar?

Send us the site location, room size and number of units, and the SmartRooms Qatar team will issue a quotation, usually within one working day. We supply to all eight municipalities of Qatar, provide professional installation and free site surveys, and accept LPOs and government tenders. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Request a quote today.
