CDE5531-1C

A 55-inch 4K display built for continuous signage duty

The ViewSonic CDE5531-1C is a 55-inch commercial display designed to run for long hours, whether as a signage screen in a lobby or as a presentation display in a meeting room. Its panel is a native 4K UHD unit at 3840 x 2160, so text and fine graphics stay crisp at close viewing distance, which matters on a reception wall or a classroom board. It combines the screen, an Android 14 playback platform and network ports in a single unit.

Panel details that matter once the screen is on the wall

Brightness is rated at 500 nits, and the panel offers a 1,200:1 typical contrast ratio, rising to 5,000:1 with dynamic contrast enabled. The anti-glare surface, rated 3H hardness with 25% haze, reduces reflections from windows and overhead lighting in lobbies and open-plan offices. Viewing angles are rated at 178 degrees horizontally and vertically. The 6.5 ms response time and 50,000-hour backlight life suit screens that run all day. The 9.9 mm bezel on each side keeps seams narrow when several units are placed together.

Android 14 playback, USB media and automatic failover

Inside the CDE5531-1C is a quad-core ARM Cortex-A73 processor with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 32GB storage, running Android 14 AOSP. The platform can be upgraded to Android 16 and supports ongoing security updates. Fast warm boot is rated to launch content in under 7 seconds, so a reception screen does not sit blank at the start of the working day.

Video, audio and image files can play from a USB drive on a schedule, without a connected PC. When no signal is detected on the primary input, the display switches to the next available source according to a priority you set, such as another HDMI input, USB-C or a powered OPS module. That is the difference between a lobby screen that keeps showing information and one that goes dark.

• Three rear HDMI 2.1 inputs (4K at 60 Hz) and one HDMI output
• USB-C with 65W power delivery, DisplayPort 1.2 and a 10/100M network connection
• Two RJ45 ports (LAN in and LAN out) and one WiFi slot
• Two USB-A ports, 3.5 mm audio in and line out, SPDIF output and RS-232

Where the CDE5531-1C fits in Qatar

In a private school in Al Wakrah fitting out new corridors, the unit suits a wall-mounted screen for timetables, events and announcements. Content can be loaded from a USB drive or scheduled in advance, so staff do not change files every morning. Portrait mode lets the same model work as a wayfinding panel beside a classroom entrance without losing detail.

In a clinic or bank branch in West Bay or Msheireb, a reception screen can show queue information and service messages. The display is compatible with Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS and AMX control systems, so it can be managed from the room's AV control. In a meeting room in Lusail or The Pearl where colleagues join from laptops, AirSync shares a screen through a web browser without cables or installed software, and AirPlay, Miracast and Chromecast are also supported.

Planning the installation

Plan the location before fixing the screen. The CDE5531-1C is rated for 0 to 40 degrees Celsius and 20% to 80% relative humidity. Qatar summer temperatures can pass 45 degrees Celsius, so install the display in an air-conditioned space, away from direct sun through glass and from outdoor entrances. A free site survey from SmartRooms Qatar can confirm the position before installation.

The panel weighs 12.95 kg net and measures 1233 x 703.5 x 62 mm. It uses a 400 x 400 mm VESA pattern. The box includes wall-mount screws, five clamps and a 3 m power cord, but no wall bracket is listed, so confirm the mounting hardware in your quotation. The input range is 100 to 240 VAC plus or minus 10%, which covers 240 V mains, and the supplied cord should be checked against BS 1363 sockets. Power draw is 57.75 W with ENERGY STAR.
