Overview

This 86-inch ViewSonic CDE8614-2C is a commercial display with 3840 x 2160 native resolution and 500 nits typical brightness. Android 14 runs on a quad-core processor with 4GB RAM, and the panel rotates between landscape and portrait. USB playback carries on through a signal failover if the main source is lost. It suits lobbies, corridors and meeting rooms in Doha that run signage for long hours.

What the CDE8614-2C is

The ViewSonic CDE8614-2C is an 86-inch commercial display with a 3840 x 2160 native panel, a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 500-nit typical brightness rating. It runs Android 14 on a quad-core ARM Cortex-A73 processor with 4GB DDR4 RAM and 32GB storage, so content can run on the display itself. The screen can be used in landscape or portrait orientation, which suits vertical wayfinding and menu boards as well as presentation walls.

Facts that matter for a large-format screen

Three details shape how this panel performs. The 1200:1 typical contrast ratio rises to 2000:1 with DCR enabled. The anti-glare coating carries a 25% haze rating and 3H hardness, which helps in rooms with windows. The 15.9 mm bezel on every side keeps the image edges visually clean when the panel sits beside other screens. Viewing angles are rated at 178 degrees horizontal and vertical, and the backlight life is rated at 50,000 hours.

Connectivity: three HDMI inputs, a USB Type-C port with DisplayPort 1.2 and 15W power delivery, two USB Type-A ports, RS-232 control, LAN and a WiFi slot.
Audio: two 10W speakers and a 3.5mm audio output.
Power: 100-240 VAC input and 120.95W consumption with Energy Star.
Environment: rated for 24/7 operation, 0 to 40 degrees C and 20% to 80% RH non-condensing.

Where it fits in Qatar

In a corporate lobby in West Bay or Lusail, the panel can show visitor welcomes, directions and meeting schedules around the clock, while staff use the same screen for internal updates. A hotel or serviced apartment reception in The Pearl could use portrait mode for arrival information. In a school in Al Wakrah, a wide corridor screen can carry announcements and timetables, with USB playback continuing if the main feed is disconnected. Shopping centres and transit operators can use scheduled USB playback and remote monitoring to keep displays running consistently across several sites.

What to plan before installation

The display weighs 42 kg net and 56.95 kg gross, so the wall, frame or stand must be checked for load before fixing. The VESA pattern is 600 x 400 mm, and four wall mount screws come in the box. The overall size is 1930.8 x 1101.7 x 68 mm, so allow space for cable routing behind the panel. Because the operating range tops out at 40 degrees C, place it in an air-conditioned room with ventilation around the cabinet and keep direct afternoon sun from windows off the screen.

Integration planning matters too. If the room uses Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS or AMX, confirm the control path with the SmartRooms Qatar team. A free site survey, quotations usually within one working day, and delivery to all eight municipalities of Qatar are part of the service. The unit is covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Questions about CDE8614-2C

Who is the CDE8614-2C built for?

It suits organisations that need a large screen running most of the day, such as a reception area in a West Bay office or a hospital corridor in Doha. At 86 inches with 3840 x 2160 resolution, it is sized for lobbies, boardrooms and wide hallways where viewers stand several metres away. Its operating hours are rated 24/7, so it fits signage that must stay on through the working week and into the evening.

Will the picture stay readable in a bright lobby with large windows?

The panel is rated at 500 nits typical brightness and has an anti-glare coating with a 25% haze rating and 3H hardness. That helps against reflections from windows, but a lobby facing west onto strong afternoon sun may still need a check of screen position. A free site survey before mounting lets the SmartRooms Qatar team review sightlines and glare from the entrance.

Can it be used outdoors or in a very hot space such as a car park?

No. The stated operating temperature range is 0 to 40 degrees C, with 20% to 80% RH non-condensing humidity, so it is not rated for outdoor use or for spaces above 40 degrees C. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45 degrees C, so place it in an air-conditioned room with airflow around the panel, and confirm the environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before you accept a quotation.

What happens to playback if the signal source fails?

The CDE8614-2C supports USB media playback with automatic signal failover, so content keeps running from USB media when the primary source is lost. Scheduled USB media playback can also show chosen content at set times without a computer connected. This matters for wayfinding, menus and safety messages in an airport-area lobby or a shopping centre, where a blank screen is a real problem.

Which ports and inputs does it provide?

The rear panel has three HDMI inputs with 4K at 60Hz support, with HDMI 3 supporting ARC. It also has a USB Type-C port offering DisplayPort 1.2, USB 2.0, 15W power delivery and Ethernet sharing, plus two USB Type-A 2.0 ports, a 10/100M RJ45 LAN port, an RS-232 input, an RS-232 output, a 3.5mm audio output and a WiFi slot.

Can it be controlled by Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS or AMX systems?

Yes. The display is Crestron Connected certified and compatible with the Crestron XiO Cloud service, Extron IP Link certified, offers a Q-SYS Verified Plugin and supports AMX. These links let a control system manage power, inputs and other AV devices remotely, so a facilities team in Doha can run a meeting room or signage network from one controller.

How do we manage several units across different sites?

The unit supports web-based remote device management and works with ViewSonic Manager for deployment and remote management. A retail operator with screens in several shopping centres, or a school group with units in separate buildings, can monitor its displays without visiting each site. ViewSonic Launcher and AirSync wireless presentation come bundled, so staff can share content from a laptop without cables.

Can it be wall-mounted, and what should we plan for?

Yes. It uses a 600 x 400 mm VESA wall mount pattern, and four wall mount screws are included. The net weight is 42 kg and the gross weight with packaging is 56.95 kg, so the wall or frame must be checked for load before fixing. Use at least two people to lift it, and book a free site survey to confirm the mounting point and cable routes for a unit measuring 1930.8 x 1101.7 x 68 mm.

Will it run on Qatar's 240 V mains supply?

The power input is rated 100-240 VAC with a plus or minus 10% tolerance, and that range includes the 240 V supply used in Qatar. The listed consumption is 120.95W with Energy Star. The unit comes with a 3 m power cord, so check that it suits your BS 1363 sockets, and ask a licensed electrician to confirm the circuit protection before installation.

We are a school in Al Wakrah ordering several units. Can we order by LPO?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs), and government and school buyers can use tenders such as Monaqasat. For a school equipping a main hall or a wide corridor, the quotation can list the same CDE8614-2C model for each location, with a site survey to confirm wall positions. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order.

What is included in the box?

The package includes a 3 m power cord, a remote control with two AAA batteries, a Quick Start Guide, an RS-232 adapter, four wall mount screws, a 3 m HDMI cable that is HDMI LA certified, and a compliance statement. Check the contents against your quotation on delivery, and keep the compliance statement with your asset records.
