What the MWE813 does on a busy indoor floor

The MWE813 is a freestanding indoor touch display that plays video, images, audio and scrolling text from its own onboard player. The standard panel is 43 inches, and the manufacturer lists sizes from 32 to 65 inches. It is designed for floor-stand installation in shopping malls, hotels, hospitals, schools, airports and railway stations, where a screen must attract attention and answer simple questions without a staffed desk.

Choosing the PC or Android configuration

The range comes in two configurations, and the choice shapes how content is run and managed.

• PC version: i5-3317U main board (listed as optional), Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 depending on the build, 4 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD option, VGA, HDMI and USB ports, and a 140 W power rating.

Screen, touch and brightness figures to compare

The panel offers a 1080 x 1920 resolution, 16.7 million colours, an LED backlight, brightness between 300 and 700 cd/m2 and a 1,200:1 contrast ratio. The minimum viewing angle is 89 degrees in each direction at a contrast ratio of 10 or more. Brightness in the upper part of that range keeps content readable in lit mall corridors and hotel lobbies, while the optional anti-dazzle finish reduces reflections from nearby light.

Touch input works with a finger or a touch pen. Ten-point touch is standard, with 20 and 40-point options, and the manufacturer rates the touch surface for more than 50 million touches. That rating matters for a wayfinding unit that many visitors use every day.

A shopping mall in Lusail could place one unit at a main entrance to show store directories and current promotions, with the 43-inch panel sized for passing foot traffic. A hotel in The Pearl could use a touch screen in its lobby for event schedules and local directions. A private school in Al Rayyan might place a unit near reception to show visitor information and notices.

Qatar's summer is the main site constraint. The stated working temperature is 0°C to 50°C, and Qatar summer temperatures can pass 45°C, so the unit belongs inside an air-conditioned space, away from sunlit glass and outdoor entrances.
