What the MC08 does in a room

The AISPEECH MC08 is a ceiling microphone for rooms that need one unit to cover the whole teaching or meeting area without cluttering the ceiling. Its white, circular body measures 445 mm by 445 mm and is 57.5 mm deep, and it weighs under 3 kg. Inside is a 32-element MEMS microphone array with a 4.5 m effective pickup radius, aimed at the lectern and board area so a presenter who moves or writes stays clearly audible.

Audio processing and pickup zones

Processing happens on the device. AI noise suppression, AI reverberation cancellation and AI echo cancellation work together with full-duplex operation, so remote participants and people in the room can speak at the same time. The MC08 offers eight configurable pickup zones, split into four teleconference zones and four voice-lift zones. Each zone can be set to amplification, communication or mute, which lets a teacher reinforce speech at the board without sending door noise or back-of-room chatter to the far end. The unit samples at 48 kHz with 24-bit depth, rejects background noise by up to 35 dB, and lists a delay of 25 ms.

Connectivity: Dante, analog and PoE+

The MC08 includes Dante audio, providing one remote conference channel and one local reinforcement channel over an IP network. Where a room still runs analog equipment, the unit also provides analog audio interfaces, so the space can be upgraded step by step rather than replaced in one go. Power comes over PoE+ through the single Dante/PoE network port, and the unit consumes 12 W. Two MC08 units can be cascaded, and the MC08 can be cascaded with the MC10 series, which the manufacturer lists as unlimited. The package includes a remote control, and the unit has a reset button.

Where it fits in Qatar

Three scenarios suit the MC08 well. A private school in Al Wakrah fitting out new classrooms can use it in regular or smart classrooms with lectern areas of about 5 to 7 square metres, so in-person and online lessons draw on the same microphone. A company head office in West Bay or Lusail can mount one in a huddle room of 20 to 40 square metres, where stand-up meetings must reach a team working in another city. In a small conference room in Msheireb or Al Sadd, the unit keeps speech clear without desk microphones on the table.

What to plan before installation

• Choose one of four mounting methods: ceiling flush mount, surface mount, wire suspension or rod suspension.
• Confirm a PoE+ port is free at each ceiling location, since PoE+ is the power supply listed in the data.
• Check the temperature in the ceiling void. The working range is 0°C to 40°C, which matters in Qatar summers above 45°C; ask the SmartRooms Qatar team if the void runs hot.
• Agree pickup zones with the room users before commissioning, especially where a door or air-conditioning unit sits near the lectern.
