What the Parlé DCM-X White does in a meeting room

The Parlé DCM-X White is a beamtracking ceiling microphone built for Devio UCX meeting room systems. It mounts above the table, so participants do not need desk microphones or cables crossing the room. Its 16-element digital array forms active beams and follows whoever is speaking, which lets people talk naturally from anywhere in the coverage area.

Because it works with Devio UCX, the microphone does not require a Tesira DSP platform. The network box handles the audio processing, which keeps the equipment list shorter for a single room and means fewer separate components to specify and maintain.

Coverage, audio figures and mute feedback

Beamtracking divides the coverage area into four 90° zones that together give full 360° pickup, and it mixes active talkers automatically. The published audio figures include a signal-to-noise ratio above 76 dB at 1 kHz, a frequency response of 150 Hz to 16 kHz within ±3 dB, a dynamic range of 92 dB and an SPL of 109 dB at under 1% THD. A green and red LED on the microphone shows mute status during calls, so the people at the table can confirm it at a glance.

One cable run, expansion and distance limits

Power and data share a single run, using PoE to IEEE 802.3at Class 3 at 15.4 W. The network box has three RJ-45 connectors: one to the switch, one to the microphone and one to an optional DCM-XEX expansion microphone. Each network box supports up to two microphones. The source gives 330 feet (100 m) as the maximum switch-to-network-box distance and 33 feet (10 m) between the network box and a DCM-XEX, with a 6.6 feet (2 m) cable to the microphone.
