Overview
The Angekis RS232 Cable is a current accessory in the video conferencing range, built around the RS232 serial standard. It suits Qatar organisations linking a room controller to compatible meeting room equipment in boardrooms, classrooms and lecture halls. The source data for this model is limited, so SmartRooms Qatar confirms the port types and cable run before quoting. Request a quote to match the cable to your devices.
What the Angekis RS232 Cable is
The Angekis RS232 Cable is a serial accessory from the Angekis video conferencing range. The manufacturer lists it as a current model, so it can be quoted and ordered now. RS232 is a long-established serial standard, and cables of this kind carry control commands between a controlling device and compatible room equipment that has a matching serial port.
Details to confirm before ordering
The available information for this model covers its brand, model name, series and category only. It does not list connector types, cable length, pin layout or baud rate, so this page does not state them. Check the serial port on your codec, display or control processor and the port on the device at the other end. Send those details with your request so the SmartRooms Qatar team can confirm the right cable.
Where it fits in Qatar
- Boardrooms in Msheireb or West Bay: a room controller that must send commands to a codec installed in a cabinet elsewhere in the room.
- Lecture theatres in Education City: adding serial control to an existing presentation system during a refit.
- Government meeting rooms in Doha: linking a wall-mounted control panel to equipment that sits behind joinery or in a rack.
Planning the installation
Measure the route between the two devices, including vertical runs and any floor boxes, and add a margin for connections. Where cabling runs through existing ceilings or trunking, a free site survey from SmartRooms Qatar helps confirm the path before quoting. For projects with several rooms, list each room and its devices in one request so the quotation covers the full set. Quotations are usually issued within one working day, and products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
Request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar with the make and model of both devices and the approximate cable run, and our team will confirm whether this cable suits your installation.

Questions about RS232 Cable
What is the Angekis RS232 Cable used for?
The Angekis RS232 Cable is a serial accessory in the video conferencing range, built around the RS232 standard. Cables like this carry serial control commands between a controlling device and compatible room equipment. The source data identifies it as a current accessory for video conferencing setups, so confirm the exact devices it will link before you order.
Is the RS232 Cable a camera, codec or display?
No. It is a cable accessory, not a camera, codec, display or control unit, and it does not come with those devices. Its listed category is video conferencing accessories. If your project needs a complete meeting room system, tell the SmartRooms Qatar team which devices you already have, and we will quote the cable alongside any equipment you need.
What connectors and pin layout does the cable have?
The manufacturer data for this model does not list its connector types, pin layout or wiring, so we do not state those details here. Before ordering, check the serial port type on your codec, control processor or display, and the port on the other device. Send those details with your quotation request so the SmartRooms Qatar team can confirm the right cable.
What length is the Angekis RS232 Cable?
The source data does not list a cable length for this model. Measure the route between the control device and the equipment in the meeting room, including vertical runs down walls or through floor boxes, then add a margin for connections. Include that measurement in your quote request, and the team will confirm whether this model suits the distance.
Can it link a boardroom controller to a codec in West Bay?
Yes, that is a common reason to use a serial cable: a room controller needs to send commands to a codec installed in a different part of the room or in a cabinet. Confirm that both devices have a compatible RS232 port and that the cable run is practical. For a boardroom in West Bay, include the controller model and codec model in your request.
Will it work with video conferencing equipment from other brands?
Compatibility depends on the port and command set of each device, and the source data does not list compatible equipment for this cable. Do not assume it will work with another brand simply because both devices have a serial port. Share the make and model of both devices with the SmartRooms Qatar team, who will advise whether this cable fits before you order.
Can I install it in a hot outdoor or dusty location in Qatar?
The source data gives no operating temperature or environmental rating for this cable, so we cannot confirm outdoor use. Qatar summers can exceed 45 degrees Celsius and dust storms are common, so keep cable runs inside air-conditioned rooms and risers where possible. If your route crosses an exposed area, ask the team to confirm suitability before you order.
Does a school with several classrooms need one cable per room?
In most cases, yes. Each room with a serial-controlled device needs its own cable run between its controller and its equipment. A school in Al Wakrah or Lusail fitting out several classrooms should list each room, its devices and the estimated cable length in one request. Orders can be placed by purchase order (LPO), and the team will quote the full set together.
Do I need a site survey before installing the cable?
A site survey is useful when cable routes pass through existing ceilings, trunking or walls, which is common in older Doha buildings being refitted. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys, and the survey lets us check the path, port positions and access before quoting. It also helps avoid rework when a room has to stay in use during installation.
What warranty covers the Angekis RS232 Cable?
Products supplied by SmartRooms Qatar are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. The source data does not state a warranty duration or terms for this cable, so please confirm the details with the team before you order. Keep your quotation and purchase documents with your project records for any future claim.
How soon can I receive a quote for this cable?
SmartRooms Qatar usually issues quotations within one working day. Include the quantity, the two devices the cable will connect and the approximate run length. Lead times are estimates confirmed with the quotation, based on stock, so the team will confirm availability at that stage.
Can I buy it through a government tender or purchase order?
Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and supports government tenders, including those published on Monaqasat. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. For a tender, include the quantity and the device pairings so the quotation matches the specification you are working to.
