What the Parlé DCM-XA White does in a meeting room

The Parlé DCM-XA White is a ceiling microphone with beamtracking and an integrated two-channel amplifier. Biamp designed it for Devio UCX meeting room systems, so the microphone, its network box and the room loudspeakers can be planned as one audio package instead of separate parts. This white edition is item 920-00028-20000. Its electrical, acoustic and amplifier specifications match the black edition, item 920-00028-10000.

Rather than passing a table microphone around, the unit sits in the ceiling and picks up speech from anywhere in the room. A 16-element digital array forms an active beamformed pickup pattern, and four 90° zones cover the full room. Participants seated on any side of the table are captured without lobe aiming or room mapping during installation.

The microphone connects to its network box with a 6.6 ft (2 m) RJ-45 cable. The network box then uses three RJ-45 connections: one to the network switch, one to the microphone and one to an optional DCM-XEX expansion microphone. The switch-to-box run can reach 330 feet (100 m), and the box-to-DCM-XEX run can reach 33 feet (10 m). Each network box supports up to two microphones, so a larger room can add a second pickup point without adding a separate DSP.
