What the black Parlé TCM-1A includes

The Parlé TCM-1A black is an AVB ceiling microphone system built from two parts: a black pendant microphone that hangs below the ceiling and a plenum box that sits above it, carrying a two-channel PoE+ amplifier. Item number 920-00493-10000 covers this black finish. The pendant is 51 mm high and 63 mm across and weighs 0.2 kg. The plenum box is 51 mm high, 178 mm wide and 181 mm deep, and weighs 1.1 kg.

Beamtracking pickup across the whole room

Each pendant divides its coverage into three 120-degree zones, which together give 360-degree coverage of the space beneath it. The pendant uses an 8-element digital array with a beamformed polar pattern. Its frequency response is rated from 150 Hz to 16 kHz within ±3 dB, with sensitivity above 70 dB and a maximum sound pressure level of 106 dB at 0.5% THD. A green and red mute LED on the pendant shows the mute state. The microphone height can be adjusted by the user to suit the table and the ceiling.

Amplifier, power and cabling

The plenum box receives power over the network cable through PoE, IEEE 802.3at Class 3 at 15.4 W, so the switch port must support that standard. Its two amplifier channels are Class D. Continuous output is 8 W with one channel driven and 4 W per channel with both driven. Burst output reaches 40 W per channel at 4Ω and 30 W at 8Ω, and a burst mode handles peak loads. An internal limiter is included, and software selects the balance between power and channel count. The maximum distance from switch to plenum box is 100 metres.

Daisy chaining and cable runs

• A second RJ-45 connector on the plenum box links a TCM-1EX expansion microphone

Planning the installation

Before ordering, confirm the ceiling type, the space above it and the cable route from the switch to the plenum box. The microphone is evaluated to UL 2043 and is suitable for air handling spaces, which matters where the plenum box sits in a return-air void. The source data gives no operating temperature range for this model, so confirm ambient conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team before fitting it in a hot or dusty void.
