Overview
The Nearity AM01 is an expansion microphone from Nearity. Expansion mics add capture points to a conference setup, which helps when speakers sit far from the main unit or across a long table. It suits boardrooms, classrooms and training rooms in Doha, West Bay and Lusail. The manufacturer data we hold does not list pickup range or compatible systems, so SmartRooms Qatar confirms fit before quoting. Request a quote today.
What the Nearity AM01 adds to a meeting room
The Nearity AM01 is an expansion microphone, an add-on that extends audio pickup in a video conferencing setup. In many meeting rooms the main conference unit captures speech well only for the people sitting closest to it. An expansion microphone places an extra capture point where people actually sit, so remote colleagues can follow the whole discussion rather than only the speakers near the main unit.
What the source data confirms and what to check
The manufacturer data for this model confirms its identity: the Nearity AM01, listed in the Accessories series within the Video Conferencing category. It does not state pickup range, connection type, dimensions, weight, cable length, power requirements, operating temperature or a list of compatible Nearity systems, so this page does not state them. Those details should be confirmed before you buy.
To speed up that check, send SmartRooms Qatar the following:
- Conference system model currently installed or planned for the room
- Room dimensions and table length, with the number of seats
- Mounting point and cable route between the table and the main unit
- Interface needs, such as the connection your system expects
Where it fits in Qatar
A few realistic situations show where an expansion microphone earns its place:
- A university committee room in Education City where ten people sit around a long table and join sessions with partners abroad.
- A ministry boardroom in Msheireb where the main unit sits at one end and participants at the far side are harder to hear.
- A private school in Al Wakrah setting up a staff meeting room for hybrid sessions with teachers who join from other locations.
Planning the installation
Plan the microphone position and cable route before the installer arrives. Mark the planned position on the table, check where the cable will run to the main unit, and keep it away from mains power cables. Because the data does not give a cable length, measure the distance on site and share it with us. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys, and our professional installation team uses the survey to plan the layout before any equipment is fixed in place. We deliver to all eight municipalities of Qatar.
If you are equipping several meeting rooms, we can quote against a purchase order (LPO) or a government tender, including Monaqasat. Payment is by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. The AM01 is a current model, and products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty; the warranty terms will be confirmed on your quotation.
To receive a quote, send us your conference system model, room size and seat count. Quotations are usually issued within one working day, and our team can confirm fit before you commit to a purchase.

What is the Nearity AM01 used for?
The Nearity AM01 is an expansion microphone, an add-on that extends audio pickup in a video conferencing setup. It suits meeting rooms where the main unit cannot reach every seat, such as a long boardroom table in West Bay or a committee room in Lusail where participants sit far from the centre of the table. Request a quote and our team will confirm fit for your layout.
Is the AM01 a complete conference system?
No. The product data lists the AM01 as an accessory in the Video Conferencing category, so it is designed to add to a conference setup rather than stand in for one. A room that needs video and audio end to end still requires its main conference equipment. Tell us which system you already own or plan to buy, and we will confirm how the AM01 fits alongside it in your quotation.
Which Nearity systems is the AM01 compatible with?
The manufacturer data supplied for this model does not list compatible Nearity systems, so this page does not claim any. Before ordering, send SmartRooms Qatar the model of your conference unit, your room size and the seat count. Our team will confirm compatibility in writing as part of the quotation, and a free site survey is available if you want the room checked in person across Qatar.
What connection does the AM01 need?
The source data does not specify the connector, interface or cable type for the AM01, so do not assume a plug-and-play link with your system. Confirm the required connection before purchase, particularly if you are adding the microphone to a meeting room in Doha that already has cabling and a fixed conference unit. Ask us to check this during the site survey so the installation is planned correctly.
How many AM01 units does a large boardroom need?
The data does not give a pickup range, so the number of units depends on the room itself. Measure the table length, count the seats and note where the main unit sits. A large boardroom with a long table, such as a ministry meeting room in Doha, may need more than one unit to cover every seat. Our team can recommend a layout after the site survey and include the quantity in your quotation.
Is the AM01 suited to a school classroom?
Schools are a realistic fit when the room is used for conferencing rather than general teaching. A private school in Al Wakrah setting up a staff meeting room for hybrid sessions, or a training centre joining remote speakers, would use an expansion microphone in a similar way to a boardroom. For a teaching space, confirm the intended use and the room's cable routes with SmartRooms Qatar before ordering.
Does SmartRooms Qatar install the AM01?
Yes. SmartRooms Qatar provides professional installation across Qatar. We recommend a free site survey first, so the installer can plan the microphone position, cable route and connection before any equipment is fixed. Quotations are usually issued within one working day, and you can speed this up by sending your room dimensions and conference unit model with your request.
What warranty applies to the AM01?
Products supplied by SmartRooms Qatar are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. The source data for the AM01 does not list the warranty period or its terms, so we will state them on your quotation rather than assume them. Keep the quotation and purchase documents with your asset records, as these help when your facilities or IT team needs to log the equipment.
Can a government body buy the AM01 through a tender or LPO?
Yes. SmartRooms Qatar supplies against purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including Monaqasat. A ministry or public school equipping a conference room can add the AM01 to the same order as its main conference equipment, and payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Send the tender reference with your request so the quotation matches the required format.
Is the AM01 a current or discontinued model?
The AM01 is a current model, so you can request a quote for it now. Nothing in the source data indicates that it is discontinued. If your room needs a different configuration or a different number of pickup points, tell our team the layout and we will explain the options in your quotation.
How should I plan the cable route for the AM01?
Plan the route before installation day. Mark the planned microphone position on the table, trace the path to the main conference unit, and keep the cable away from mains power cables. Because the data does not give a cable length, measure the distance on site during the survey instead of guessing. Routing cable through table floor boxes or wall trunking can keep the room tidy.
Why do I need a site survey for an accessory?
A microphone is only as useful as its position. Table shape, seating arrangement and the location of the main unit all affect how well speech is picked up. A free site survey lets our team measure the room, observe how people sit and speak, and identify a placement that works. This avoids re-running cabling after the equipment arrives, and it gives you a clear scope for your quotation.
