Overview

The Panasonic TY-CSP1 PressIT360 combines four cameras, a seven-microphone array and a speaker in one unit that sits on a meeting table and connects to a PC through a single USB-C cable. Its cameras cover a 360-degree horizontal view, and its microphones pick up voices up to 5 metres away. It suits meeting rooms in Doha and Lusail where people in the room join Microsoft Teams or Zoom calls with colleagues elsewhere.

A single unit for hybrid meetings

The Panasonic TY-CSP1 PressIT360 puts a camera, a microphone array and a speaker into one round unit that is placed in the middle of a table. Connect it to a PC with one USB Type-C cable and it sends video and audio into Microsoft Teams, Zoom or another conferencing application, so remote colleagues can see and hear everyone in the room without a separate camera or speakerphone.

Setup is quick: place the unit, run the cable and open the application. The operation base is 100 mm across and the body is 285 mm tall, weighing approximately 950 g, so it takes up little space on a table.

Camera and microphone performance that matters in a room

Four cameras cover a 360-degree horizontal view and 60 degrees vertically, with a 5MP CMOS sensor specification. Video is output in UVC at 1280 × 720 or 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps, so people sitting at any seat, not only those facing the camera, can be seen clearly by remote participants.

Seven MEMS microphone units in an array use beamforming to pick up voices up to 5 m (16.4 ft) away across a full 360-degree area. Echo cancellation, automatic gain control, noise reduction and keyboard noise suppression are built in, which reduces the echo and typing noise that often disrupt hybrid meetings. Performance still depends on the conferencing system, internet connection speed and bandwidth.

Choosing a video mode and display range

Five video modes let the room operator choose the layout. Single view follows one speaker. Dual view follows up to two speakers, and Multi view follows up to four, showing a green bar above the active speaker on remote screens. Surround view divides the 360-degree image into two 180-degree screens, and Stable view holds a fixed picture, useful for a whiteboard or a presenter. Buttons on the unit switch modes, adjust volume and mute the microphone.

The display range setting narrows the recognised area to 360, 270 or 180 degrees, so a presenter at the front can be framed without picking up the rest of the room. People outside the chosen angle are not recognised. This setting requires main unit software 0.0.7904.92 or later, plus the PressIT360 app 1.4.2047.56 or later on Windows or 1.4.2034.40 or later on Mac.

Where it fits in Qatar

  • A boardroom in West Bay or Lusail where directors in Doha join a call with a team abroad on Teams or Zoom. The unit replaces a laptop webcam and a separate speakerphone.
  • A university training room in Education City where a lecturer teaches at a whiteboard while remote students follow. Stable view with the display range narrowed to 180 degrees keeps attention on the front of the room.
  • A meeting room in the Industrial Area that hosts external partners regularly, where one compact unit avoids cluttering the table with several devices.

Planning the room and the environment

The operating range is 0 to 40 °C with 20 to 80 percent humidity, non-condensing, at altitudes up to 2,800 m. Outdoor summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45 °C, so keep the unit inside an air-conditioned room, away from direct sunlight through glass, and confirm the site conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team during the free site survey.

Power comes from USB Type-C (5 V/3 A) or an AC adaptor rated DC 12 V/2 A, and the unit draws 11 W while outputting video. USB-C alone gives less volume than the AC adaptor, so check which option suits the room before ordering. For a permanent position away from the desk, use the 1/4-inch tripod screw hole and a Noble Wedge lock for mounting surfaces of 11 mm or less.

Questions about TY-CSP1

Is the TY-CSP1 suited to a meeting room in West Bay?
Yes, it suits a boardroom or meeting room where people in the room join calls with colleagues elsewhere. The unit sits in the centre of the table, and its four cameras capture a 360-degree horizontal view, so participants at any seat can be seen. Only one USB Type-C cable connects it to the PC, and it weighs approximately 950 g with a 100 mm operation base, so it is easy to move between rooms.
What is the microphone pickup range, and how does it handle echo and background noise?
The seven-microphone MEMS array picks up voices up to 5 m (16.4 ft) away across a 360-degree horizontal area, using beamforming. Built-in echo cancellation, automatic gain control, noise reduction and keyboard noise suppression reduce feedback and typing noise. Results still depend on the conferencing system, internet connection speed and bandwidth, so test the setup on your actual network before the meeting.
Which video conferencing platforms does it work with?
PressIT360 is certified for Microsoft Teams and Zoom, with image and sound quality optimised for each platform. It can also be used with Cisco Webex and Google Meet, although operation on those systems is not guaranteed. It is supported in Crestron AirMedia wireless conferencing environments with main unit software 0.0.7904.62 or later. Surround and Stable views are not recommended with Microsoft Teams Rooms.
How do the video modes differ, and which one suits a presentation?
Single view follows one speaker, Dual view follows up to two, and Multi view follows up to four, showing a green bar above the active speaker. Surround view splits the 360-degree image into two 180-degree screens, and Stable view keeps a fixed picture that suits a whiteboard. For a presenter standing at the front, Stable view or Single view with a narrowed display range keeps attention on the front of the room.
Can a lecturer in Education City use it to teach remote students at a whiteboard?
Yes, that is a suitable use. Set the room to Stable view so the whiteboard stays in frame, then use the display range setting to narrow the recognised area to 180 degrees, so the lecturer and board are framed without the rest of the room. This setting needs main unit software 0.0.7904.92 or later. The mute and volume buttons on the unit let the lecturer manage the room during a lesson.
Which software versions are needed for the display range setting?
The 360, 270 and 180-degree display range settings require main unit software 0.0.7904.92 or later, plus the PressIT360 app 1.4.2047.56 or later on Windows, or 1.4.2034.40 or later on Mac. The app runs on Windows 10, Windows 11 and macOS. Plan seating positions before the meeting starts, because people outside the chosen angle of view are not recognised.
How big is the unit and what does it weigh?
The body is 64 mm in diameter and 285 mm high, with an operation base of 100 mm diameter, and it weighs approximately 950 g (2.1 lbs). It is black. The slim body and fabric netting are designed to sit discreetly in the middle of a conference table, and the camera captures faces at an angle that is not blocked by the laptop screen, so participants can focus on the discussion.
Can it be installed away from the desk, and how is it secured?
The base has a 1/4-inch screw hole for a tripod or stand, which allows a permanent position away from the desk. A Noble Wedge lock security slot takes a security cable and suits mounting surfaces of 11 mm or less. Because installation depends on the room, SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey before installation to check the surface, cable routes and sight lines.
Is it suitable for a site office in Mesaieed with a window facing the sun?
Keep it inside an air-conditioned room, because its operating range tops out at 40 °C, with 20 to 80 percent humidity, non-condensing. Outdoor summer temperatures in Mesaieed can exceed 45 °C, so place the unit away from direct sun through glass and check that the air conditioning keeps the room within range. The SmartRooms Qatar team can assess the site during the free survey.
What power does it need, and can it run on USB-C alone?
It can run from USB Type-C (5 V/3 A) supplied by the PC, or from an AC adaptor rated DC 12 V/2 A. It draws 11 W while outputting video. On USB-C alone the speaker output is 1.5 W and volume is lower than with the adaptor, which provides 3 W, so the adaptor may suit larger rooms better. Confirm the adaptor plug and socket arrangement with SmartRooms Qatar before ordering.
We are equipping several classrooms at a school in Al Wakrah. How do we order?
Send your room list and the number of units to SmartRooms Qatar and request one quotation covering all classrooms. Quotations are usually issued within one working day. Schools can issue a purchase order (LPO), and payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Government tenders, including those on Monaqasat, are supported, and delivery covers all 8 municipalities of Qatar.
Can we adjust camera image, volume and firmware from a PC?
Yes. The PressIT360 app, installed on a Windows or Mac computer, displays camera images, adjusts image quality, runs a speaker test, and checks and updates firmware. On some models it also controls zoom, tilt and pan. The buttons on the unit handle volume, muting and mode changes, and the LED ring shows the operating status by colour. Some video control functions may not work on certain models.
