A wireless extension for larger conference rooms

The Snom C52-SP is an expansion speakerphone that works alongside the Snom C520 WiMi conference phone. When one unit cannot pick up voices across a long boardroom table or fill a big room with sound, the C52-SP adds a second point of pickup and playback right where people sit. Each unit has two microphones and a loudspeaker, so a discussion can move across the room without anyone leaning toward a single device.

Range, pairing and microphone coverage

DECT radio allows each C52-SP to sit up to 50 m from its base. That distance covers a boardroom on one floor of a government building or a long training room with the base at the front. One C520 WiMi can be paired with up to three C52-SP units, and the microphones of all units synchronise automatically, which keeps the conference operating as one audio setup. With the C620, the series listing shows support for up to two C52-SP units.

Battery life and daily handling

Each unit runs on a rechargeable 7.2 V, 2,100 mAh Ni-MH battery. The manufacturer rates it for up to 12 hours of talk time and up to 70 hours of standby. A red LED shows the charging state, while four multicolour LEDs indicate call status. Five hard keys cover mute, volume up and down, and going on and off hook. At 305 mm by 305 mm by 61 mm and about 1.1 kg, the unit is light enough to move between tables when a room is rearranged.

Summer temperatures outdoors in Qatar can pass 45 °C. The C52-SP is rated for an operating ambient range of -5 °C to +45 °C and is intended for indoor desktop use. Keep it in air-conditioned rooms, away from windows that receive direct sun, and out of hot cars or unventilated stores. The stated storage limit reaches +60 °C, but storage temperature is not an operating rating.

What to plan before you order

Count the seats in each room and mark where the base C520 WiMi and each expansion unit will sit, keeping every expansion unit within 50 m of the base. Check the plug type before shipping: the power adapter accepts 100 to 240 V AC at 50 to 60 Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V supply, but the data does not specify a plug style.
