What the SRG-XS10 captures on screen
The Sony SRG-XS10 is a PTZ camera built for 4K 60p capture, so fast movement stays smooth in lectures, panel discussions and live events. Its 4K STARVIS image sensor is designed to deliver clear, low-noise pictures in low light, which matters in lecture theatres and auditoriums where the lights are dimmed for projection.
Optical zoom reaches 10x in 4K. Tele Convert Mode extends the reach to 20x in Full HD. Because 4K oversampling produces detailed Full HD output, the same feed works for live streaming and for archiving recordings after each session.
Smooth pan, tilt and zoom for live rooms
A refined motor design gives smoother pan and tilt movement, and the speed of each movement can be adjusted to suit the room. Whether a teacher is walking along the front of a classroom or a presenter is crossing a stage, the camera keeps motion natural from start to stop.
Control options are broad. VISCA over IP supports integration with external systems, the optional RM-IP500 remote controller gives precise operation, and a browser-based web app runs on a tablet or PC. The supplied IR remote commander covers simple wireless use without any extra equipment.
Connectivity: NDI HX2, PoE++ and streaming outputs
- NDI HX2 is pre-installed, so video can move over an IP network without extra software or licence setup.
- SDI and HDMI outputs for traditional AV systems.
- RTSP, RTMP and SRT protocols for IP streaming.
- PoE++ delivers power, video and control over one LAN cable.
Where it fits in Qatar
In a university lecture hall in Education City, a ceiling-mounted unit can follow the lecturer between the lectern and the whiteboard while the session streams to students studying remotely.
In a hotel meeting room in West Bay hosting a board meeting that links Doha with teams abroad, the camera can feed a video conferencing system over IP, SDI or HDMI, depending on the inputs that system provides.
In a multipurpose school hall in Al Wakrah, a tripod-mounted unit can cover assemblies, while a second camera on the ceiling covers the stage.
Planning the installation
Choose white or black to suit the room and its interior design. Decide between tripod and ceiling mounting early, and use the image flip function where the camera is mounted upside down. Confirm that the network port feeding the camera supports PoE++, and map the cable route and sight lines before ordering brackets.
An operating temperature range is not listed for this model here, so confirm the environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before choosing an outdoor, rooftop or window-facing location. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C.
