A 10.1-inch Android panel for meeting room bookings

The Trend TD-101CMBSL is a wall-mounted touch panel that sits beside a meeting room door and displays its booking schedule. The 10.1-inch IPS screen runs at 1280x800 in a 16:10 aspect ratio. A quad-core RK3288 processor at 1.8GHz, 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory drive the Android software, so the booking app runs directly on the panel rather than on a separate computer.

The Android operating system is available in version 5.1 or 8.1, selected when you order. Confirm which version your booking software supports before the quotation is issued, because that choice determines which apps you can run.

Touch control and room status lights

The screen supports 10-point capacitive touch, so staff can tap, swipe and scroll through the schedule with a light finger. Its 300 cd/m2 brightness and 800:1 contrast ratio suit an indoor corridor or meeting room. Viewing angles are rated at 85 degrees left, right, up and down, so people walking past at an angle can still read the screen.

A full-border LED light bar gives a status reading from a distance. The lights show red when a room is in use, blue when it is booked and green when it is available, so a visitor can judge the room from the corridor without reading the screen.

Power, network and wireless options

• PoE: RJ45 port supports power over Ethernet to IEEE 802.3at/af
• Ethernet: 100M/1000M wired connection
• Wireless: 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0
• DC power: power jack for the supplied 12V/1.5A adapter
• Storage and media: SD card slot and USB ports, including USB host

PoE lets one RJ45 cable carry both data and power, which removes the need for a separate power point beside each door. The switch port must be able to supply PoE, so confirm your switch before ordering.

Where it fits in Qatar

A government ministry office in Msheireb with eight shared meeting rooms on one floor could place a panel at each door, so staff see which rooms are free before they reach them.

A private school in Al Wakrah using shared rooms for parent meetings and teacher training could fit panels outside each room, with the LED bar giving a quick status check from the corridor.

A consultancy in Lusail or West Bay with client meeting rooms on several floors could use the Ethernet and Wi-Fi options where a cable run to a room is difficult.

Summer conditions need care. The rated operating range is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius, and Qatar summers regularly pass 45 degrees. Keep the panel inside air-conditioned rooms, away from direct sunlight through windows, and off exterior walls and open lobbies.
