Overview

The Barco UniSee 55-inch is a bezel-less LCD panel for building video walls in control rooms, boardrooms and lobbies. It offers Full HD resolution, 700 cd/m² typical luminance and automatic Sense X calibration that keeps colour and brightness even across the wall. Panels mount in landscape or portrait and connect via HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort. Best suited to air-conditioned rooms in Qatar.

What the UniSee 55-inch is built for

The Barco UniSee 55-inch, model Barco UniSee 700 with article number R9867700, is a 55-inch LCD panel designed to be tiled with others into one large display. Each panel uses an IPS panel at Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Because the bezel is absent, the gap between tiles is kept very small, so one image can run across several panels without a black border cutting through it.

Brightness, calibration and image consistency

Typical luminance is 700 cd/m² and the typical contrast ratio is 1200:1. The panel uses direct LED backlighting with local dimming, which the manufacturer links to higher contrast, lower heat output and reduced power draw. Sense X runs automatic, continuous colour and brightness calibration so the wall keeps a balanced picture over time. Uniformity is rated at 98% on the 9-point and 13-point measurements and 92% on the 21-point measurement. Viewing angles are 178° horizontal and vertical, and response time is under 8 ms. The native colour gamut is 70% NTSC, which makes this panel a good fit for dashboards, maps and information graphics rather than colour-critical image grading.

Mounting and wall planning in Qatar

The UniSee Standard Smart Mount supports up to 10 rows in landscape or 6 rows in portrait. The InvisiMount option supports up to 4 columns by 3 rows in landscape, or 4 columns by 2 rows in portrait. Each LCD weighs 17.3 kg including its power supply and input board, and 23.2 kg gross. A 4 x 3 wall therefore carries a considerable load, so a site survey should confirm the wall structure, cable routes and power outlet positions before installation. Panels can be mounted in landscape or portrait, and the temperature sensors embedded in each panel help the system monitor conditions across the wall.

Where it fits and what to plan for

  • Operations rooms: a government authority in Doha assembling a multi-panel wall to show live data to a duty team.
  • Corporate lobbies: a bank or real estate developer in West Bay or The Pearl presenting branding and building information.
  • Training and control centres: an industrial or logistics operator in the Industrial Area or near Hamad International Airport monitoring processes around the clock.

Plan the room climate before ordering. The operating range is 0°C to 40°C with 20% to 80% non-condensing humidity, so the panels belong in air-conditioned spaces, away from direct sunlight through glass during Qatar's hot months. Power input is 100 to 240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz, and typical consumption is 241 W with the internal power supply or 227 W with the external one. Heat output of 822 BTU/h with the internal supply should be included in the cooling calculation. The system is fan-less, so there are no fan noise considerations in the room.

Setup is handled through the upgraded Video wall Manager module, which includes a guided installation wizard and recognises panels automatically as they are added. Request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar and we will confirm the mount, wall layout and connectivity for your project. We supply and deliver across all eight municipalities of Qatar, arrange professional installation, and offer free site surveys before wall-mounting.

Questions about Barco UniSee

What is the Barco UniSee 55-inch best used for?
It is built to tile into video walls where one image must run across several screens without black borders. In Qatar, typical uses include operations rooms, control centres and corporate lobbies in air-conditioned buildings. Each 55-inch panel offers Full HD resolution and 700 cd/m² typical brightness, so content stays readable from a distance in a larger room.
Can the UniSee 55-inch go in an outdoor area or near a window in Qatar?
No, it is not designed for that. The operating range is 0°C to 40°C with 20% to 80% non-condensing humidity. Qatar summer temperatures can exceed 45°C, so install the panels in air-conditioned rooms and away from direct sunlight through glass. Confirm the room climate with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.
How many panels can one UniSee wall contain?
With the UniSee Standard Smart Mount, a wall can have up to 10 rows in landscape or 6 rows in portrait. With InvisiMount, the limit is 4 columns by 3 rows in landscape or 4 columns by 2 rows in portrait. Plan the grid size against the room dimensions and the viewing distance before requesting a quote.
What resolution and panel type does the UniSee 55-inch use?
It uses an IPS panel with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Viewing angles are 178° horizontal and 178° vertical, and response time is under 8 ms. These figures suit dashboards, maps and video content viewed from different seats in a meeting room or control room.
How does Sense X affect the look of a multi-panel wall?
Sense X performs automatic and continuous colour and brightness calibration, which helps the whole wall look consistent over time. Uniformity is rated at 98% on the 9-point and 13-point measurements and 92% on the 21-point measurement. This matters when a single dashboard spans many panels and any panel that drifts would be obvious to operators.
What does the bezel-less design mean for a video wall in a Doha operations room?
The bezel-less design keeps the gap between tiles very small, so a duty team can read a map or live feed across several panels without a black line cutting through it. This is useful for a government or utility operations room where a single image must span the wall. Confirm the grid layout against the room before ordering.
How heavy is each panel and what does a wall need structurally?
Each LCD weighs 17.3 kg including its power supply and input board, and 23.2 kg gross. The LCM alone weighs 15.0 kg. A 4 x 3 wall is twelve panels, so the wall structure must carry the total load. A free site survey before installation confirms the wall, cable routes and power outlet positions.
Which inputs and connections does the UniSee 55-inch provide?
It has two HDMI 2.0 inputs and two DisplayPort 1.2 inputs with one DisplayPort output, all supporting 4K at 60Hz. It also has two Ethernet ports, two USB ports used only for power, and HDCP 2.2 support. Plan the source feeds and network cabling for each panel when you request a quote.
Does the UniSee 55-inch work with Qatar's 240 V mains supply?
Yes, the power input accepts 100 to 240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V mains. Typical consumption is 241 W with the internal power supply or 227 W with the external one. Heat output is 822 BTU/h with the internal supply, which should be included in the cooling calculation for the room.
Can a training centre in Al Rayyan or Education City use this panel for a teaching or monitoring wall?
It suits a monitoring wall in a control or training room that is air-conditioned and has a fixed viewing position. The 178° viewing angles and 700 cd/m² typical brightness support group viewing. For a classroom with heavy daylight, discuss the room lighting with the SmartRooms Qatar team before choosing this model.
Can a government ministry buy the UniSee 55-inch through an LPO or a Monaqasat tender?
Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including Monaqasat, and accepts payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Quotations are usually issued within one working day. Products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and the team can prepare the quote for a multi-panel wall in one document.
Is there a newer version of the UniSee platform?
Barco has released a newer generation of the UniSee platform, so buyers comparing models should check the current options. Ask SmartRooms Qatar for a quote on the UniSee 55-inch or a current equivalent that matches your wall size, brightness target and connectivity needs.
