What the DS-D2046TL-2B is built for

The DS-D2046TL-2B is a 46-inch LCD panel from Hikvision's Mirror Series, designed to sit as one tile in a video wall. Its 2.5 mm physical seam, with a stated tolerance of ±0.8 mm, keeps the gap between adjacent screens small so that content reads as one picture across the grid. The panel uses VA LCD technology, direct-lit LED backlighting and a 1920 × 1080 resolution.

Specifications that matter on a wall

Brightness is rated at 500 cd/m², with a 178° viewing angle both horizontally and vertically, so people standing to the side of a control room or lobby still see the image clearly. The contrast ratio is 1200:1, the response time is 8.5 ms and the colour gamut is 72% NTSC. Factory calibration is applied for colour and brightness uniformity, which matters when several panels sit side by side and must match. The surface has a haze of 25% for an anti-glare finish.

Connectivity and control

Inputs: one each of VGA, HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort and USB
Output: one HDMI output for passing the signal to the next panel
Control: one RS232 input and one RS232 output for chaining commands
Supplied cables: a 2-metre HDMI cable and a network cable

The data describes automatic signal looping through HDMI interfaces for up to 30 screens, so one source can feed a grid from a single cable run.

Where it fits in Qatar

A logistics company's monitoring room near the Industrial Area could arrange several panels in a grid to show operations dashboards and camera feeds. A hotel lobby in West Bay might use a wall of these panels for wayfinding and welcome content, although a large public lobby may call for a different specification. An education institution in Education City could place a stack in a seminar room and switch between Meeting and Movie picture modes for presentations and video.

What to plan before ordering

The stated working temperature is 0°C to 40°C, with 20% to 80% humidity non-condensing. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so these panels belong in air-conditioned rooms, and the room conditions should be confirmed with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation. Each panel weighs 10.5 kg ±0.5 kg net and uses a 600 × 400 mm VESA pattern, so wall structure and brackets need checking. Wall-mount and modular brackets are available but are not in the packing list. The power supply is rated 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, and draws up to 200 W. Because the panels are sold individually, count your wall carefully, and consider a free site survey for multi-panel walls. Public bodies can order with an LPO or tender reference. Request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar for delivery to all eight municipalities and for professional installation.

Questions about DS-D2046TL-2B

What is the Hikvision DS-D2046TL-2B designed for?

It is a 46-inch LCD panel designed as one tile in a video wall, for control rooms, monitoring centres, lobbies and showrooms where several screens must show one continuous picture. With a 2.5 mm physical seam and 500 cd/m² brightness, it suits an operations room in Doha or a security monitoring desk in the Industrial Area that needs clear images over long shifts.

How narrow is the bezel and why does it matter on a video wall?

The panel has a 2.5 mm physical seam with a stated tolerance of ±0.8 mm. On a wall of four or nine panels, a narrow seam keeps the gaps between screens small, so spreadsheets, maps and camera feeds are less interrupted. Narrow seams are a main reason buyers choose a dedicated video wall panel over a standard monitor, so check the seam against your layout before ordering.

Is 500 nits bright enough for a room with daylight?

The panel is rated at 500 cd/m² with a 25% haze anti-glare surface. That suits rooms with controlled lighting, such as a control room or a boardroom with blinds closed. A glass-fronted lobby with direct sunlight is a harder setting, so position the wall away from windows and ask SmartRooms Qatar to review the room before you request a quote.

Can the panels be chained together for a larger wall?

Yes. Each panel has an HDMI input and an HDMI output, and the data describes automatic signal looping through HDMI interfaces for up to 30 screens. A 3 by 3 wall can therefore be fed from one source with cables running through the stack. Confirm the cabling route, source capacity and cable lengths with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation.

Which inputs and outputs does it have?

The panel has one each of VGA, HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort and USB for video and audio input, plus one HDMI output for looping. It also has one RS232 input and one RS232 output. The data lists a 4K signal input, but the native resolution is 1920 × 1080, so ask how 4K sources will be displayed before ordering.

Can it be controlled from a central room?

Control is through the RS232 interface, with one input and one output so commands can pass from panel to panel. The package includes a remote control and an IR receiver for local use. The data does not describe the command protocol or software, so check integration requirements with your system integrator before you request a quote for a building control setup.

Will it run on Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains supply?

The power supply is rated 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz supply. Power consumption is up to 200 W and standby consumption is 0.5 W or less. The data does not state the plug type, so confirm that the power cable fits BS 1363 (Type G) sockets with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation to avoid adapters on site.

Can it be installed outdoors or in a hot area such as a loading bay?

No. The stated working temperature is 0°C to 40°C with 20% to 80% humidity, non-condensing. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C and dust is common, so the panel is intended for indoor, air-conditioned rooms. Keep it out of loading bays, unconditioned corridors and window-facing spots, and confirm the room conditions with SmartRooms Qatar before you order.

What is in the box?

Each carton includes the LCD display, a power cable, a network cable, a 2-metre HDMI cable, four screws, a remote control, an IR receiver, quick start guides in English and multiple languages, and an LCD maintenance notice. Wall-mount and modular brackets are not in the packing list, so include them in your quote if your layout needs them. Products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty; ask for the terms with your quotation.

How much wall space does a 3 by 3 grid need?

Each panel measures 1020.91 mm wide, 575.44 mm high and 47.95 mm deep. A 3 by 3 grid with 2.5 mm seams is roughly 3.1 m wide and 1.7 m high. Each panel weighs about 10.5 kg net and the VESA pattern is 600 by 400 mm, so plan the wall structure and brackets, and arrange a site survey before mounting.
