A 46-inch panel built for tiled video walls
The Samsung VM46B-U is a 46-inch video wall display designed to sit beside identical panels and work as one large image. Its IPS panel runs at 1,920 x 1,080, and the 178/178 degree viewing angles keep content readable for people seated at the side of a room or walking past a lobby wall.
The unit is rated for 24/7 operation, which matters for control rooms, transport hubs and public information walls that cannot switch off during the working day or overnight. Its non-glare panel and 500 nit typical brightness keep images visible under ambient room light.
Specifications that shape a wall layout
- Bezels: 2.25 mm on the top and left and 1.25 mm on the right and bottom, so the gap where two panels meet stays narrow.
- Pixel pitch: 0.53 x 0.53 mm, which gives sharp text when viewers stand at normal distances from the wall.
- Contrast: 1,200:1 static and 45,000:1 dynamic, with an 8 ms response time and a 72 % colour gamut.
- Cabinet: 1022 x 577 x 69.9 mm and 15.7 kg per unit, with a 600 x 400 mm VESA pattern and a glossy frame.
- Power: AC 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, 160 W in on mode and 0.5 W in sleep mode, with energy efficiency class B.
Where the VM46B-U fits in Qatar
A hospital in Doha might fit a two-by-two wall at a patient reception to show queue numbers, wayfinding and health information, in an air-conditioned area that runs through office hours and beyond. An operations room at a logistics firm in the Industrial Area could tile panels to display live shipment status, while a university in Education City might install a few units in a research group's collaboration room. Hospitality and retail venues in The Pearl or Msheireb may use a single panel in a lobby for brand content, provided the space is climate controlled.
Connectivity, control and content
Two HDMI inputs, one DisplayPort 1.2 input and a DVI input let the panel connect to most media players, PCs and AV sources. DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI ports can daisy chain the signal from one panel to the next, so a single source can drive a wall without an external graphics card. For facilities teams, the RS232 input and output, RJ45 connection, USB port and IR input allow the display to be controlled and monitored from a central system or a local remote.
Planning power, environment and calibration
Qatar's summer heat is the main planning point. The VM46B-U is rated for operating temperatures from 0°C to 40°C and humidity from 10% to 90%, so it belongs in air-conditioned rooms rather than unshaded halls or outdoor locations. Its IP5x dust rating helps in dusty conditions, but cooling still has to be planned. Multi-step factory tuning provides uniform brightness and colour across panels, and Color Expert Pro software allows advanced adjustments, with Color Expert Pro Mobile available for white balance on walls up to 5 x 5.
Before ordering, measure the wall, confirm a bracket that matches the 600 x 400 mm mount pattern and check the load of each 15.7 kg unit. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys and professional installation, so the wall can be checked before any panel is fixed. Quotations are usually issued within one working day.
