CS8601

What the CS8601 does in a meeting room

The BenQ CS8601 is an 86-inch display for meeting rooms, built around a 3840 × 2160 IPS panel with a 16:9 active area of 1895.0 × 1066.0 mm. Typical brightness is 450 nits and typical contrast is 1200:1, while the 10-bit colour depth and 8 ms response time suit presentations with moving slides and video. Its panel covers 68% NTSC colour gamut.

Connections for laptops, conferencing PCs and room systems

The CS8601 has three HDMI 2.0 inputs and one HDMI 2.0 output, a VGA input, three USB-A 2.0 and three USB-A 3.0 ports, a 3.5 mm line-in for microphone or PC audio, a 3.5 mm line-out and an optical S/PDIF output. An OPS slot takes a slot-in computer, and a 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet port serves both the Android system and the OPS computer. An RS-232 port is available for control integration.

Presenting, sharing and whiteboarding without cables

Wireless sharing runs through InstaShare 2, which lets up to four screens be shared at once, so attendees can present from their own devices. The EZWrite 5.0 whiteboard lets attendees add notes and media from their devices, and the Floating Tool gives quick access to annotation and recording during a session. Cloud-stored files can be opened through AMS and edited directly on the display using WPS. The system runs Android 8.0 with 4GB memory and 32GB storage, and the remote control doubles as a clicker and pointer.

Where it fits in Qatar

A bank head office in West Bay might fit one CS8601 in a medium-sized boardroom, with a conferencing computer in the OPS slot joining video calls to colleagues abroad. A university seminar room in Education City could use the display for hybrid sessions, with a camera chosen to suit the room. In Lusail, a real estate developer's sales office could present floor plans to visiting clients and annotate them live. The rated input of 100-240V at 50/60Hz covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains supply.

What to plan before ordering

The panel weighs 54.3 kg and ships at 77.1 kg, so the wall bracket must be rated for the load and fixed to suitable structure. The VESA pattern is 600 × 400 mm with M8 screws. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey to check the wall, sight lines and cable routes before installation.

The operating range is 0°C to 40°C, and storage is rated from -20°C to 60°C. Summer temperatures in Qatar regularly pass 45°C, so the display belongs in an air-conditioned room, away from direct sun and heat-trapping glazing. Typical power draw is 173 W and standby consumption is under 0.5 W. The included accessories are a 5 m VGA cable, a 1.5 m HDMI cable, a 3 m USB cable and a remote control; no camera is listed.
