Overview

The LG 49UH5C is a 49-inch Ultra HD signage display with 3,840 x 2,160 resolution, 500 cd/m² brightness and built-in Wi-Fi, suited to reception areas, schools and corridors across Qatar. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so owners and buyers comparing options should request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement.

What the LG 49UH5C is built to do

The LG 49UH5C is a 49-inch Ultra HD signage display from the UH5C series, designed to run menus, wayfinding, announcements and promotional content in reception areas, corridors and waiting spaces. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so this page serves organisations that already own one, buyers comparing it with newer screens, and anyone looking for a replacement that does the same job.

The specifications that matter on a signage project

The 3,840 x 2,160 panel carries four times the pixels of Full HD at 1,920 x 1,080, which keeps small text and fine graphics crisp when people read the screen from a short distance. The rated brightness of 500 cd/m² (500 nits) should be weighed against the light in the room. A windowless corridor suits this figure well, while a lobby flooded with daylight needs a site check first.

Inputs cover HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-D, USB 3.0 and an SD card slot, with DisplayPort output and external speaker output. Control is handled through RS232C, RJ45, an IR receiver and a pixel sensor. Built-in Wi-Fi lets content be shared over a wireless network, and the Soft AP function allows the display to act as a wireless access point for mobile devices. The panel supports HEVC content, a codec the manufacturer says halves network traffic compared with H.264 for the same material.

Power, heat and placement in Qatar

Typical power draw is 102 W, falling to 70 W in Smart Energy Saving mode. The unit has built-in power with an input range of 100-240 V at 50/60 Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz supply. Heat is the bigger planning question. The rated operating range is 0°C to 40°C with 10% to 80% humidity, so the display belongs in an air-conditioned room. Open loggias, car-park entrances and sun-exposed window bays, where summer temperatures can pass 45°C, are not suitable locations. Confirm the environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.

Where it fits in Qatar

Government and corporate reception: a visitor screen in a ministry or company lobby in Doha showing directions, the day's meetings and welcome messages.
Schools and campuses: corridor displays in a private school in Al Rayyan or a training centre in Education City, with RS232C and RJ45 control for facilities staff.
Clinics and hotels: waiting-area information in a clinic in Al Sadd or a serviced apartment lobby in Lusail, placed indoors away from direct sun.

Planning the installation

The head weighs 13.3 kg and the monitor measures 1,103.2 x 648.0 x 38.6 mm, so plan the mount point, wall loading and cable route before delivery. Bezels of 11.9 mm at the top, 12.4 mm on each side and 15.5 mm at the bottom matter if you plan several screens side by side. Optional accessories listed for this model include the wall bracket LSW350B, VESA adapter AM-B330S, stand ST-201T, speaker SP-5200, pixel sensor KT-SP0 and OPS kit KT-OPSA. The box includes a remote controller with batteries, a power cord and an HDMI cable.

SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys, professional installation and delivery to all 8 municipalities. Because this model is discontinued, request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement, and include your mounting details and the media player you use. Our team will respond with a quotation, usually within one working day.

Questions about 49UH5C

Is the LG 49UH5C still sold by LG?

No. LG has discontinued the 49UH5C, so new units are no longer available from the manufacturer. If you are replacing a unit or planning a new signage area, request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar for a current equivalent or a compatible replacement. Include the mounting details, the OPS or media player you use and your content platform, so the team can match the closest option to your site.

What is the LG 49UH5C used for?

It is a 49-inch Ultra HD display built for signage, running menus, wayfinding, announcements and promotional loops. Hotel reception desks, bank branches, clinic waiting areas and school corridors in Doha, Lusail or Al Khor are typical locations. Its 3,840 x 2,160 panel keeps small text readable at close range, and built-in Wi-Fi lets content be shared without running a cable to every screen.

What resolution and brightness does it offer?

The panel is rated at 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, four times the pixel count of Full HD, and 500 cd/m² (500 nits) of brightness. For a shop front or lobby with strong daylight, check glare on site before choosing a position, because 500 nits is a moderate figure in very bright spaces. A free site survey from SmartRooms Qatar can confirm whether the position suits the lighting.

Can it take an OPS media player or an external player?

Yes. The specifications list OPS Type Compatible, and the optional OPS Kit KT-OPSA is listed for that purpose. An external media player, the MP500 or MP700, can also be attached. Compatible content software includes SuperSign-w lite and SuperSign-c. Confirm which player and software your content team uses before ordering, because that choice shapes the setup.

Which inputs and control options does it have?

Video inputs are HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-D and USB 3.0, plus audio and an SD card slot. DisplayPort output and external speaker output are also provided. For control, the unit has RS232C, an RJ45 port, an IR receiver and a pixel sensor. At a university campus such as one in Education City, RS232C and RJ45 let facilities staff manage displays from a central point, depending on the control protocol used.

Does it run on Qatar's 240 V mains supply?

The power input is listed as 100-240 V at 50/60 Hz with built-in power, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz supply. The data does not list a plug type, so confirm the power cord and socket arrangement with the SmartRooms Qatar team when you request a quote. Typical consumption is 102 W, and 70 W in Smart Energy Saving mode, which helps budget running costs for several screens.

Can it be placed in a hot lobby or near a window in summer?

The rated operating range is 0°C to 40°C with 10% to 80% humidity, so it should be installed in an air-conditioned space. Unconditioned areas in Qatar summers can exceed 45°C, so avoid open loggias, car-park entrances and sun-exposed window bays. In a hotel lobby in Msheireb with a glass frontage, set the display back from direct sun and check the site before installation.

How much power does it use?

Typical power consumption is 102 W, and the Smart Energy Saving figure is 70 W. The unit uses built-in power, so no separate external power brick is listed in the data. When several screens run in a school or government building, the gap between the two modes helps estimate daily running costs. Send the number of screens and operating hours with your quote request for a project-level estimate.

Which safety and energy certifications does it carry?

The specifications list safety certifications UL, cUL, CB, TUV and KC, EMC approvals FCC Class A, CE and KCC, ErP compliance for the EU, and Energy Star 8.0. These matter to government and institutional buyers who review purchasing documents. If your tender requires a specific certificate, include it in your quote request so the team can respond to it in the quotation.

How heavy is it, and what should be planned for a wall mount?

The head weighs 13.3 kg and the monitor measures 1,103.2 x 648.0 x 38.6 mm, so plan for a two-person lift. Confirm the mounting height, cable route and power point before delivery. The optional wall bracket LSW350B and VESA adapter AM-B330S are listed as accessories. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys to check the wall and fixing points before installation.

How thin are the bezels if I want several screens side by side?

Bezels measure 11.9 mm at the top, 12.4 mm on each side and 15.5 mm at the bottom. In a corporate lobby in West Bay with several screens side by side, these gaps remain visible between panels, so frame alignment matters. The data does not describe a video wall configuration for this model, so confirm the setup with the SmartRooms Qatar team before buying more than one unit.

Can a school or government office order several units on a purchase order?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs), government tenders including Monaqasat, and payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order, with delivery to all 8 municipalities of Qatar. A school in Al Wakrah fitting out several corridors can request one quotation covering every unit, and the team usually responds within one working day. If the 49UH5C cannot be supplied, ask for a current equivalent in the same request.
