LG 49UH5N-E (Discontinued) · Replacements in Qatar

Name: LG 49UH5N-E 49-inch UHD Digital Signage Display
Brand: LG
SKU: lg-49uh5n-e
Availability: Discontinued

Overview

The LG 49UH5N-E is a 49-inch 4K UHD signage display with an IPS panel, 500 nit typical brightness and built-in webOS 6.0, so it can play content without an external media player. The manufacturer has discontinued this model. Organisations in Qatar that already run one, or are comparing options for lobbies, corridors and service counters, should request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement.

What the 49UH5N-E is and where it runs

The LG 49UH5N-E is a 49-inch 4K UHD display built for digital signage in public and semi-public spaces. Its panel shows menus, wayfinding, queue numbers and announcements, and its built-in webOS 6.0 platform plays that content without a separate media player. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so this page is written for organisations that already own one, buyers comparing it with other 49-inch screens, and anyone who needs a current replacement.

Panel facts that matter on a busy wall

Resolution: 3840 x 2160 native UHD with 10-bit colour depth
Brightness: 500 nit typical on an IPS panel with edge backlight
Anti-glare: 28% surface haze to reduce reflections near windows
Colour and viewing: BT.709 95% colour gamut and 178 x 178 degree viewing angle
Operation: rated for 24/7 use with a 50,000-hour minimum lifetime, in portrait or landscape

Brightness and glare control are the figures to check for a lobby in Msheireb or a foyer in West Bay where daylight falls on the glass. At 500 nit typical, the screen suits indoor areas with controlled light rather than sun-facing positions, and a site survey will confirm placement before installation.

Playback, connectivity and network control

The 49UH5N-E has three HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort input, each accepting 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz. Its daisy chain takes HDMI or DisplayPort input and outputs HDMI at 30Hz, so one source can feed the next screen. For control it offers RS232C in and out, IR in, RJ45 LAN, built-in Wi-Fi, one USB 2.0 Type A port and an audio output. IR daisy chaining runs through RS232C rather than a dedicated IR output. Internal memory is 16GB.

On the software side, the display is listed as compatible with SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control, SuperSign WB, SuperSign Cloud and the Mobile CMS app. Local contents scheduling, group management, fail over, tile mode up to 15 x 15 and up to four picture-by-picture regions help operators run one screen or a matched set. A government service centre in Msheireb could use local scheduling to switch queue information and service notices by time of day, while a hotel in West Bay could run arrival messages from the same playlist logic.

Qatar summer temperatures can exceed 45°C, but this model is rated for an operating range of 0°C to 40°C and 10% to 80% humidity. Install it in an air-conditioned space with airflow around the housing, away from direct sun and open entrances. The IP5X rating covers dust protection and does not extend the temperature range. The listed optional mounts are the Slim Wall Mount WB21LMA/B, Wall Mount OLW480A/B and Wall Mount Adapter AM-B330S, and their availability should be confirmed with your quotation.

Power, certifications and security

Power is supplied through a built-in AC supply rated 100-240V, 50/60Hz. Typical consumption is 100W and maximum is 140W, with around 70W under smart energy saving. Qatar mains at 240V and 50Hz fall within this input range. Listed certifications include CB/NRTL for safety, FCC Class B, CE, KC, ErP and ENERGY STAR. The unit includes LG Enhanced Kernel Protection, and the manufacturer states ISO/IEC 15408 Common Criteria EAL2 certification for this model. The on-screen menu also offers Arabic.

To request a quote for a current equivalent or a compatible replacement, send SmartRooms Qatar your room dimensions, mounting height, content system and number of screens. Our team will reply with a quotation, usually within one working day, and can support purchase orders and government tenders.

Questions about 49UH5N-E

Is the LG 49UH5N-E still available from SmartRooms Qatar?

The manufacturer has discontinued the 49UH5N-E, so it is no longer in production. SmartRooms Qatar can still quote on a current equivalent or a compatible replacement that matches your 49-inch size, 4K resolution and connection needs. Send us your current model or room layout and we will respond with a quotation, usually within one working day.

What is the 49UH5N-E designed for?

It is a 49-inch 4K UHD display built for digital signage, showing menus, wayfinding, queue numbers and announcements in public areas. Its 24/7 operation rating, built-in webOS 6.0 playback and IP5X dust rating suit lobbies, corridors and service counters. Organisations that want one screen to run content without an external media player will find this layout fits their needs.

Does it need an external media player?

No. The high-performance processor is listed as running multiple tasks without a separate media player, and 16GB of internal memory holds content. Playlists can be managed through SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control, SuperSign Cloud or the Mobile CMS app, all listed as compatible. Confirm which CMS version your IT team prefers before the quotation is finalised.

How bright and sharp is the panel for a bright lobby in Doha?

The IPS panel has 500 nit typical brightness, a 3840 x 2160 native resolution and a 28% haze anti-glare surface that reduces reflections. These figures help text stay legible near windows in West Bay or Lusail, where daylight can wash out screens. For positions that receive direct sunlight, have the SmartRooms Qatar team check placement during a free site survey.

What are the operating temperature limits, and can it sit near a window?

The rated operating temperature is 0°C to 40°C, with 10% to 80% humidity. Qatar summers can exceed 45°C, so place the display in an air-conditioned, ventilated space and keep it out of direct sun and dust-storm exposure, even though it carries an IP5X dust rating. Ask the team to confirm the exact position during a free site survey.

Which inputs and outputs does it have?

It has three HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort input, each supporting 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz. The daisy-chain output is HDMI at 30Hz and accepts HDMI or DisplayPort from the source. Control ports include RS232C in and out, IR in, RJ45 LAN and one USB 2.0 Type A port, plus an audio output and built-in Wi-Fi for network connection.

Can I build a video wall with it?

The data lists a tile mode of up to 15 x 15, portrait and landscape operation, RS232C sync and local network sync, so it can be arranged in a wall. Plan the layout with the bezel figures: 8.9 mm on the top, left and right, and 12.9 mm at the bottom. Share your wall dimensions with the SmartRooms Qatar team so the quotation matches your controller and content setup.

How much wall space does it need?

Without IR, the monitor measures 1095.6 x 630.8 x 29.7 mm and the head weighs 13.6 kg, with a 16.1 kg packed weight. It uses a 300 x 300 VESA interface. With the slim bracket the manufacturer quotes about 13 mm of wall clearance. The optional Slim Wall Mount WB21LMA/B and Wall Mount OLW480A/B are listed, so confirm their availability in your quote.

Is it suitable for a school corridor?

Yes, for corridor announcements, timetable panels and event notices. A private school in Al Wakrah fitting out new corridors could schedule content locally by time of day, use fail over and no-signal images for reliability, and rely on the built-in speaker for audio. Confirm the wall height and cable route with the SmartRooms Qatar team during the site survey.

Does the on-screen menu support Arabic?

Yes. The language list for the on-screen display includes Arabic alongside English and other languages, which helps Qatari offices that work in both Arabic and English. Content font support depends on your media player software and file formats, so test a sample playlist with your Arabic text before rolling out the screens across a site.

What security features does it include?

It includes LG Enhanced Kernel Protection, which guards against external access or attack, and the manufacturer states ISO/IEC 15408 Common Criteria EAL2 certification for this model. It also supports SNMP, Wake on LAN and network-ready operation over RJ45 LAN or Wi-Fi. Government and corporate IT teams should review the network policy before connecting the display.

What power and energy figures should I plan for?

The built-in power supply is rated 100-240V, 50/60Hz. Typical consumption is 100W, maximum 140W, and about 70W with smart energy saving. Standby and power-off draw are each listed at 0.5W. Qatar mains at 240V and 50Hz fall within the input range. The basic accessories include a power cord, a remote controller with batteries and cable holders.

Which certifications are listed for this model?

The listed certifications include CB/NRTL for safety, FCC Class B, CE, KC, ErP and ENERGY STAR. Software compatibility lists SuperSign CMS, Control, WB and Cloud, Crestron Inside and Cisco certification. When comparing with a replacement, ask your SmartRooms Qatar contact to check the certification list for the current equivalent you are considering.
