Overview

The LG 49UV5N-EP is a 49-inch 4K UHD signage display, and LG has discontinued this model. It has an IPS panel, 3840 x 2160 resolution, 500 nit typical brightness and 24/7 operation, with webOS 6.0 and built-in Wi-Fi. Qatar offices, schools and retail sites that already run this model, or need a comparable panel, can request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement.

What the 49UV5N-EP is and who it suits

The LG 49UV5N-EP is a 49-inch UHD signage display for business use. It pairs a 16:9 IPS panel at 3840 x 2160 resolution with webOS 6.0 software and 16GB of internal storage for content. LG has discontinued this model, so this page is written for organisations that already own it, buyers comparing it with newer displays, and anyone who needs a replacement for an existing screen. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement.

Picture performance and daily operation

The panel is rated at 500 nit typical brightness with a 1,100:1 contrast ratio and a dynamic contrast figure of 1,000,000:1. It covers 95% of the BT709 colour space and supports 10-bit colour, which gives 1.07 billion colours. Response time is 8 ms rise and 10 ms fall. The display is specified for 24/7 operation with a minimum life of 50,000 hours, and it can be used in portrait or landscape orientation.

Connections and video wall planning

The connection panel offers three HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort input, each able to carry 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz with HDCP support. An HDMI output at 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz passes the signal to the next screen in a daisy chain. Control options include RS232C in and out, an RJ45 LAN port, an IR input and a USB 2.0 Type A port. Bezels measure 8.9 mm on the top, left and right and 12.9 mm at the bottom, which keeps the gaps between tiles narrow. Tile mode can be set up to 15 x 15 for larger walls, and built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are included.

Where it fits in Qatar

In a hotel lobby in West Bay, one screen beside the reception desk can show directions, dining times and event listings. A private school in Al Wakrah might place screens in corridors and the main hall to show timetables and announcements, with scheduled content changing at set times through local scheduling. A shopping mall atrium in Doha could use several units in a tiled wall for promotions that need to be seen from across the floor. Each of these sites should be indoors and air-conditioned, because the operating range is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius and Qatar summers regularly pass 45 degrees.

What to plan before you order

Check the mounting and handling details before the display arrives. The head weighs 13.6 kg and the packed unit weighs 16.1 kg, so plan for two people during installation. The VESA pattern is 300 x 300 and the monitor measures 1095.6 x 630.8 x 29.7 mm without the IR module. Optional mounts include the WB21LMA/B slim wall mount, the OLW480A/B wall mount and the AM-B330S adapter. Power is rated at 100-240V, 50/60Hz, with typical consumption of 90W and a maximum of 130W. The tilt face-down setting is rated to 30 degrees at 40 degrees Celsius, and the product carries an IP5X dust rating.

Questions about 49UV5N-EP

Is the LG 49UV5N-EP still sold by LG?

No. LG has discontinued the 49UV5N-EP, so this page is for buyers who already own it or need a replacement. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement for the same role. Send the quantity, the mounting location and any existing wall mount details so the quotation matches your setup. Quotations are usually issued within one working day.

What kind of space is this 49-inch display best for?

The 49-inch 16:9 panel suits corridors, lobbies, reception areas and meeting room walls where viewers stand a few metres away. In a hotel lobby in West Bay, one unit can show wayfinding and event information clearly. Its 500 nit typical brightness suits indoor spaces with controlled light, while locations close to large glass areas should be checked on site before ordering. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey for this.

How many video inputs and outputs does it have?

The display has three HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort input, each rated for 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz with HDCP support. It also provides one HDMI output at 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz for passing the signal on. Control connections include RS232C in and out, an RJ45 LAN port, an IR input and a USB 2.0 Type A port. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are included. Confirm your source device output before ordering.

Can I daisy chain several units from one source?

Yes, within the limits of the product data. The display accepts HDMI or DisplayPort input and outputs HDMI, so one unit can pass the signal to the next. The HDMI output is rated at 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz rather than 60Hz, so the chained screen receives a lower refresh rate than the original input. For a multi-unit wall, tile mode supports up to 15 x 15 layouts, and the layout can be confirmed with the SmartRooms Qatar team.

Can it be installed in a hot area such as a loading bay or outdoor canopy?

No. The operating range is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius with 10% to 80% humidity, and Qatar summers can exceed 45 degrees Celsius. Install it inside air-conditioned spaces away from direct sunlight and heat sources such as server racks. The IP5X rating is a dust protection rating, not a rating for outdoor use. Confirm the exact location with the SmartRooms Qatar team before the site is prepared.

Can it be mounted in portrait orientation?

Yes. The panel supports both portrait and landscape orientation, which suits digital menus, wayfinding columns and vertical corridor signs. The VESA pattern is 300 x 300, and the head weighs 13.6 kg, so the bracket must be rated for that load. Optional wall mounts listed by the manufacturer include the WB21LMA/B slim mount, the OLW480A/B wall mount and the AM-B330S adapter. Check your chosen bracket against the VESA pattern before ordering.

Do I need a site survey before wall mounting?

A site survey is recommended for a display weighing 13.6 kg without packaging and 16.1 kg packed. Check that the wall can carry the bracket and fixings, that the mounting height suits the viewing distance, and that cable routes reach the 300 x 300 mounting points. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys. Plan for two people during delivery and installation because of the weight.

What power supply does it need in Qatar?

The built-in power supply is rated AC 100-240V at 50/60Hz, which covers the 240V 50Hz mains used in Qatar. Typical consumption is 90W and maximum is 130W, and smart energy saving mode is rated at 70W. A power cord is included in the basic accessories. The product data does not specify the plug fitting for BS 1363 sockets, so confirm the plug type with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.

What software manages the content?

The display runs webOS 6.0 and is compatible with SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control+, SuperSign WB, SuperSign Cloud, Mobile CMS and Connected Care. It also supports Crestron Connected, SNMP and Wake on LAN for building management systems. Local content scheduling and group manager features help operators control several screens together, which is useful for schools and hotels running multiple displays across one building.

Does the on-screen menu support Arabic?

Yes, the on-screen display menu includes Arabic alongside English and many other languages. This helps offices and schools in Qatar where staff work in Arabic and English side by side. The product data covers the menu language only, so check which language your content will use with the SmartRooms Qatar team before setting up the screens.

How would this work in a video wall in a shopping mall or lobby?

Units can be tiled with 8.9 mm side and top bezels and 12.9 mm bottom bezels, and tile mode supports up to 15 x 15. For a mall atrium or hotel lobby wall, plan the overall wall dimensions, cable routing and mounting frames first. Send the wall layout and the number of units with your request so the quotation matches the installation.

Can a school or government office order several units through an LPO or tender?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including Monaqasat, and accepts payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Delivery covers all eight municipalities of Qatar, and professional installation is available. Send the quantity, specification and required date with your request, and the team will issue a quotation usually within one working day. Lead times are confirmed with the quotation.
