What the LG 55SM3C is built for

The LG 55SM3C is a 55-inch standard signage display from the SM3C series, with a 1,920 x 1,080 full HD panel and a brightness rating of 350 nits. It is built for fixed indoor screens that show menus, schedules, notices and looping promotional content, and it can be mounted in portrait or landscape. LG has discontinued this model, so this page serves organisations that already run one, buyers comparing it with newer displays, and anyone looking for a replacement.

Connections and control that matter on site

The panel accepts HDMI, DP, DVI-D, RGB and an audio input, so a laptop or media player can feed it through whichever port matches its output. Its outputs are DP, audio and an external speaker output. For management, the listed options are RS232C, RJ45, an IR receiver, a pixel sensor, USB 3.0 and an SD card slot. The unit is OPS-compatible, and the external media players MP500 and MP700 can be attached, which gives you a way to add a media player later.

• Inputs: HDMI, DP, DVI-D, RGB and audio in
• Control: RS232C, RJ45, IR receiver, pixel sensor
• Software: SuperSign-w lite and SuperSign-c are listed as compatible

Where it fits in Qatar

A shop or mall unit in Msheireb or Lusail could use a portrait-mounted screen beside the entrance for promotions and opening hours, while a clinic in Al Sadd could place a landscape screen in the waiting room for queue numbers and health notices. A hotel lobby in West Bay might choose the same panel for directions and event listings. The 350-nit rating is best matched to indoor positions, so check the light level at the chosen spot before ordering.

Heat, power and wall planning

The operating temperature range is 0°C to 40°C with 10% to 80% humidity. Qatar summers often push outdoor temperatures above 45°C, so the display should sit in an air-conditioned room, and the exact location should be confirmed with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation. The built-in power supply is rated 100-240V at 50/60Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains. The panel measures 1,238 x 714.9 x 38.6 mm, weighs 17.3 kg and uses a 300 mm x 300 mm VESA interface, so a free site survey is worth booking before wall mounting, especially in corridors where the wall structure is unknown.
