Overview

LG has discontinued the 55UH5N-E, a 55-inch UHD digital signage display with an IPS panel, 500 nit typical brightness, built-in webOS 6.0 and 24/7 operation. It suited lobbies, corridors and retail walls in Qatar, and remains a reference for organisations that already run it. Request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement from SmartRooms Qatar.

What the 55UH5N-E is and where it was used

The LG 55UH5N-E is a 55-inch signage display from the UH5N series, built for standard business signage rather than broadcast or home viewing. LG has discontinued this model. Organisations that already own it can still plan spares, mounting and content around it, and buyers comparing options can use the specifications below to choose a current equivalent.

Display performance that matters on a busy wall

The 3840 x 2160 IPS panel offers four times the pixel count of Full HD, so menus, timetables and product text stay sharp at close viewing distance. The anti-glare treatment, rated at 28% haze, helps content stay legible near windows and in brightly lit atriums. Typical brightness is 500 nit, with a 178 x 178 degree viewing angle, 10-bit colour depth (1.07 billion colours) and a BT709 95% colour gamut. The panel is rated for a minimum of 50,000 hours, supports 24/7 operation and can run in portrait or landscape orientation.

Built-in webOS and content management

The display runs webOS 6.0 with 16GB of internal memory and built-in Wi-Fi. In many setups, playlists can run without a separate media player. Listed software compatibility includes SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control, SuperSign WB and SuperSign Cloud, along with Mobile CMS and Connected Care. For multi-screen estates, useful functions include tile mode up to 15 x 15, PIP and PBP modes, local content scheduling, fail over and Wake on LAN.

Connectivity and installation planning

Three HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort input, each up to 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz
HDMI output and daisy chaining, with input from HDMI 1, 2, 3 or DP
RS232C in and out, RJ45 LAN, IR in and a USB 2.0 Type A port
VESA 300 x 300 mounting interface, 16.1 kg head weight, 20.5 kg packed

Measure the wall and plan the bracket, cable routing and power supply before installation day. The monitor measures 1231.4 x 707.2 x 29.7 mm without the IR receiver, and its bezels are 8.9 mm on the sides and top and 12.9 mm at the bottom. Hidden power inlets allow a slim bracket to bring the display about 13 mm from the wall. Because of its weight, SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey to check the wall and bracket load before mounting.

Where it fits in Qatar

Hotel lobbies in West Bay: wayfinding and event listings in air-conditioned foyers.
Private schools in Al Wakrah: corridor announcements and timetables, with several screens managed from one content system.
Clinics in Al Sadd: queue and information screens in waiting areas.

The rated operating range is 0°C to 40°C with 10% to 80% humidity, and Qatar summers can exceed 45°C. Install the display in air-conditioned indoor spaces, away from direct sunlight, and confirm the environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before fixing the bracket. Power input is 100-240V, 50/60Hz, with typical consumption of 110W and a maximum of 160W.

Request a quote

Because the 55UH5N-E is discontinued, SmartRooms Qatar will quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement, with delivery to all eight municipalities of Qatar, professional installation, and purchase orders or government tenders where needed. Send the wall dimensions, the number of screens and your content plan, and the team will return a quotation usually within one working day.

Questions about 55UH5N-E

Is the LG 55UH5N-E still available from LG?

No. LG has discontinued the 55UH5N-E, so it is no longer in the manufacturer's current range. SmartRooms Qatar can still quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement for organisations in Qatar that need 55-inch UHD signage. Send the number of screens, the wall location and the content you plan to show, and the team will confirm compatibility in the quotation, usually within one working day.

Who is a 55-inch UHD signage display like this suited to?

It suits business signage where text and maps must stay readable at close range, such as reception areas, corridors, waiting rooms and retail walls in offices, schools and clinics. The 3840 x 2160 IPS panel and 500 nit typical brightness handle daylit foyers well, and the 24/7 operation rating supports screens that run through the working day and beyond.

Can the display be used in portrait orientation?

Yes. The panel supports portrait and landscape operation, and the software includes screen rotation and external input rotation. That suits vertical directory boards, wayfinding columns or menu screens in a hotel lobby in West Bay or a shopping mall in Lusail, where a tall format fits a narrow wall. Check the bracket and cable routing for portrait mounting before ordering.

How many video sources can it connect to?

It has three HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort input, each supporting 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz, plus one HDMI output at 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz for passing a signal to a second screen. There is also one USB 2.0 Type A port, RS232C in and out, and an RJ45 LAN port for network control. A meeting room in Doha can switch between a laptop and a media PC on the same display.

Does it need a separate media player?

Not always. The source describes a high-performance system-on-chip that handles several tasks without a separate media player, and the display has 16GB internal memory and webOS 6.0. Local content scheduling, fail over and USB plug and play are included, so a single screen can run its own playlist. Larger multi-screen estates may still prefer an external player, which the team can scope in the quotation.

Which content management software works with it?

The listed compatible platforms are SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control and Control+, SuperSign WB, SuperSign Cloud, Mobile CMS and Connected Care. A retailer with branches across Lusail or a school group with campuses in several areas can schedule content centrally with SuperSign Cloud, while a single site might use a local setup. Confirm the software version needed for your site in the quotation.

How deep is it, and can it sit close to the wall?

The monitor measures 29.7 mm deep without the IR receiver, and its hidden power inlets allow a slim bracket to bring the panel about 13 mm from the wall. The VESA pattern is 300 x 300. The head weighs 16.1 kg and the packed unit weighs 20.5 kg, so SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey to check the wall type and bracket load before installation. Optional wall mounts WB21LMA/B and OLW480A/B are listed by the manufacturer.

Can it be installed in a hot or dusty area?

Its rated operating range is 0°C to 40°C with 10% to 80% humidity, and Qatar summers can exceed 45°C. Install it in an air-conditioned indoor space away from direct sunlight, not in an open entrance or a window-facing lobby without shading. The IP5X dust rating and conformal-coated power board protect against dust, salt and humidity, but they do not replace air conditioning.

What are the power requirements and consumption?

The power input is AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz with built-in power, which covers Qatar's 240V, 50Hz supply. Typical consumption is 110W and maximum is 160W. With Smart Energy Saving it drops to about 77W, and power-off or DPM draw is 0.5W. The power cord is included, and SmartRooms Qatar will confirm plug compatibility with your sockets when quoting.

How does it compare with a Full HD signage screen?

It has a 3840 x 2160 native resolution, which is four times the pixel count of Full HD. For a clinic or government office, that means denser text, smaller fonts and clearer maps when viewers stand closer, such as at a directory or information point. Content benefits from this resolution only if it is produced at 4K. Compare brightness, mounting and bezel sizes too when choosing a replacement.

Is it secure enough for a bank or ministry network?

The display includes LG's Enhanced Kernel Protection technology, and the source lists this model as ISO/IEC 15408 Common Criteria EAL2 certified. It also supports SNMP, Wake on LAN and network-ready operation, so the IT team can manage it on a controlled network. Share your security requirements with the team before ordering, so the replacement and configuration match your network policy.

Can we buy it through an LPO or a government tender?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including those published on Monaqasat, and accepts payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. For a ministry or school buying several units of a discontinued model, send the quantity, delivery location and tender reference, and the quotation will propose a current replacement. Products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
