A 55-inch touch display built for shared daytime use

The Samsung PM55F-BC is a 55-inch interactive display from the PMF-BC Series, designed for organisations that want touch-based presentation, digital writing and content playback in one unit. Its S-VA panel renders 1,920 x 1,080 pixels at a 0.63 mm pitch, which keeps text and spreadsheets sharp at the normal seating distance of a meeting room.

Brightness, contrast and touch performance

Typical brightness is 400 nit and the contrast ratio is rated at 4,000:1, with MEGA DCR dynamic contrast. A 178/178 viewing angle keeps the picture readable from the sides of a room. The glass front has a non-glare finish and 15% glass haze, which reduces reflections from windows and ceiling lights. Capacitive touch supports 10 touch points, so two or more people can annotate at the same time. The 6 ms response time and 72% colour gamut suit video and presentation content rather than colour-critical design work.

Built-in player and connectivity for existing rooms

An embedded media player running Tizen 2.4 on a system-on-chip lets the screen play signage or presentation content without an external PC. For live sources, the panel offers two HDMI inputs, one DVI input, a DisplayPort input, a DVI-I RGB input, two USB ports and an RJ45 network port, with WiFi built in. Bluetooth is not included. RS232 mini jacks provide serial control in and out, and MagicInfo daisy-chain support lets several units form a video wall.

Operating conditions are 0 to 40 °C at 10 to 80% humidity, non-condensing, so the room must be air-conditioned, away from direct sun and clear of dust sources.
